@@duncandonuts5268Yes, they were banned for this performance. You can't see it on video (SNL cameras wouldn't show it), but RATM draped American flags upside down because they were understandably pissed about Steve Forbes being the guest host.
The video isn't banned, Rage was banned after trying more than once to hang upside down United States flags on their amps. Upside down flag meaning duress.
I don’t understand how back in those days, this was NOT considered “rap-rock”. It absolutely 100% is. Clearly. With funk elements and others. But Korn and Slipknot? So much further from rap tho KoRn *dressed* in their adidas suits and the videos are similar to rap videos and sure they had Ice Cube on a song and a few others. Back then it was kind of a rivalry
they displayed Old Glory upside down....but not for the performance; hence they were banned from the show ever since. typical of that General Electric-owned show, not to mention that Steve Forbes was guest host (!!) What were the SNL producers thinking???
It’s funny how a lot of SNL musical performances are artists that suck and RATM were so awesome at being who they are that they are too good to stay on SNL. SNL always did have bad taste for the most part of who they let perform on the show. I know they got banned from their protesting at the time, but It’s funny how an awesome band like Rage were banned considering SNL are usually awful at choosing live performers.
I think Tim had the flag upside down but it was removed by security right before they started playing. After Bulls there were some fighting/arguing backstage over the flag and I believe a frustrated Tim stormed Steve Forbes dressing room and made a scene. Haha. They were escorted out of the building at least and told to never come back. edit: If you search around a bit I know Tom have talked about how it went down in a few interviews.
HOLY SHIT, easily one of the most incredible live performances I've seen of any band, and of course they banned it 😂
this was good shit, but they didn't get banned because of this performance

Zack is literally face of angry
Love Zach LaRocha's face and aggression at the end of the performance 👍🤣‼️
It's just like "you're cheering but you don't fkn know what you're doing" :D
Iconic 🔥🔥

Hell yeah thanks for reposting this version!
Seriously just finding out they played the Steve Forbes episode. WTF
Unfortunately, on Peacock, while they have the episode on there. They omitted the performance.
