Great job guys!!! There is some love in these lobster rolls.
Even though I have scrolled through the entire comments section I have found him 😔 *entrenal peace*
hey chef frank!!!!
Did you miss filming because you were still building your lobster traps?
Frank! 😭❤
Hannah Vickers The man doesn’t need lobster traps. He can probably catch them with his bare hands.
I am so obsessed with a food scientist being named Rosemary Trout.
A perfect name!
The perfect name for a food scientist
I never noticed that before 😂😂
Nominative determinism!
I was literally thinking the same thing
"Simplier ingredients, stuff you'd find in your local grocery store or home kitchen"
*Me looking over at my pet lobster*
😆
What’s the name of your fo- I mean pet?
Does your name happen to be Yusuke Kitagawa?😂
“Im sorry Leonardo Dipinci.”
Don't eat Larry!
Lmao Rawlston said “nah, I’ll just do a cheaper version of my roll anyway”
Rawlston said “no I’m making a Caribbean lobster roll still”
That probably means if he had only three ingredients he can make a full corse meal lol
Sorr i meant to aent that to another person
was thinking the same thing. Awesome guy, but its no longer in the spiritual realm of the classic lobster rolls we grew up with on the Canadian east cost
his favorite parts of his dish were mostly things not from the box
Purple Tri wtf
Gabby: provides mayonnaise and potato chips
Rawlston: no❤️
And yet, he also supplied mayo to her.
Colin Richardson brah💀😂
@@ColinRichardson kewpie mayo is different than normal western mayo tho, msg and made with yolks instead of whole eggs

Rawlston hit them with the sorrel, tamarind sauce, and the Chadon Beni (kinda like culantro but better) and the Mango Chow! the Caribbean is proud, mostly Trinbago

Epicurious: 2.9 million subs

Frank's channel: 60K subs
These numbers don't add up.
His channel has only been around for 6 months, but yes, I stopped watching this video at 4 minutes
Facts
whats his channel called?
@@Lakeetris It's called ProtoCooks With Chef Frank.
I see. COVID forced Frank to find a second source of income
Rawlston has a great relaxed charisma to him, and a pro Caribbean chef is a welcome addition to the team!
YES . Happy to see some diversity from pro chefs
F
What team
Really hoping they bring him back in some day if they do like a 3 levels of a Caribbean dish.
I feel like he didn’t do the challenge though, used tons of ingredients that were not provided. While not even using certain ones. I get it, but that’s part of the fun as he obviously added money to the cost.
Maybe this is just me, but every time the pro chef brings in a pantry item or substitution, like plantain chips instead of kettle chips, the video team should estimate how much of a cost difference it made by that substitution.
I also think it undermines the whole point when the pros toss out the amateur ingredient and add something else. The whole exercise is to make the best of WHAT YOU HAVE!
RAWLSTON IS SUCH A GOOD CHEF! So easy to understand what he’s doing and I love how he put so much creativity into his recipes
I am from the Caribbean and I’m sick of people calling dishes “Caribbean” because they toss pineapple in it! But chef Rawlston Williams is spot on! Plantain, mango chow, tamarind and culantro (we call it chadon beni) are all staples in Caribbean cooking (at least the English-speaking Caribbean), especially Trinidad & Tobago 🇹🇹! Awesome job guys!
That really sucks that people think anything with pineapple is carribean. That's like thinking anything with rice is asian
Same with Hawai’i.
Perfect comment. Whenever I see Caribbean pineapple chicken in other shows I die inside. But he seems legit even the coco bread
@@markpang8847 I once ordered a menu called hawaiian burger, and it just a standard beef burger with pineapple slice in it 😂
When he mentioned the scotch bonnet pepper I knew he knew what he was doing 👏🏾
I need to know where Gabrielle shops, to get all that for 15 dollars
It's per serving not in total
@@tobiassoriano9788 Was wondering where the hell you get a lobster for $10?! 😝
@@taracarroll4218 not hard when they're on sale, I've seen 2 for twenty and the like, and it actually doesn't look like it's per serving looking at the ingredient list
@@David-if2hj That's awesome. Maybe it also depends on location too. I'm Australian and a West Coast Tasmanian Crayfish on special would be $75 AUSD.
@@taracarroll4218 oh my for sure, that deal was in Boston I believe which is big on lobster, I can't believe it costs so much though there might be higher demand there, especially since certain australian varieties are considered more luxurious
I’d watch Gabrielle cook a peanut butter and jelly sandwich
me too. i can even ditich the pb&j sammmich part
André Guia So you would just watch Gabrielle? Like just doing whatever
The Owl yea she fine asl
Ray Ruiz Yea she’s hot, but would you watch her just read a book for 4 hours, not talking to the camera?
The Owl yes
I love chef rawlston introducing all these ingredients that I had never used before or heard of :) always great to get a peek into unfamiliar cuisine
Frank got lost at sea while trying to capture lobsters with his bare hands. He'll be back in a few weeks.
While sailing on the boat he carved from kapok trees that he harvested in Brazil
Frank didn’t get lost at sea, the sea got lost in his eyes. And you know frank he doesn’t like disappointing
he legit was on deadliest catch
Whew okay I was worried
Stop talking about frank! I can’t even watch the episodes he’s not in and not hear about him.
Please bring back Rawlston anytime, all the time! He's so charismatic with awesome ideas to cook!
@@willblove8206 I went there and nope... I didn't saw any video of them. But, thank you.
Up!!
I love it when he actually anesthetized the lobster then kill it, thank you.
well its just the right thing to do...plus no way the channel would let him do it any other way (harsh but real)
Rawlston is great . would love to see more of him . also seeing Gabby do close ups is hilarious .

And then breeding the lobsters that he caught to make the perfect lobster

Imagine spending years to become a professional chef, get the opportunity to work with a popular food channel and 70% of the comments are about another chef. This happens a lot on epicurious videos and it makes me wanna hug everyone in these videos who get compared to the same 3 persons all the time:Frank, Lorenzo and Emily
No hard feels but Frank is ledgit the best to watch and taste ^_^
Yes! I love Frank too but it's hella annoying
Who the hell is emily
And sometimes they DRAGGGGGGG the professional for being confident and knowing what they are doing.
Yes, I feel it too!!! I love Frank so much but I find it a little bit annoying
I remember as a kid everyone believed that you had to cook a lobster alive or it poisoned the meat. So glad to see people kill them before boiling them now.
Yeah you only cook crab alive
Unrefrigerated lobster apparently becomes disgusting very quickly.
This is probably my favorite ingredient swap video I’ve seen on UA-cam
While Frank is a one of a kind character, Chef R seems to be just as good a teacher and engaging person and I am really wanting to see more of him!
I totally loved him and Gaby's interaction. Would love to see more of him as well.
My only complaint is he deviated from the original more than Frank does but, then again, she didn't really give him much to work with.
When this dude made plantain chips... pullin them out like like he had factory levels of control... what incredible skill
Also being from the Caribbean, Really loving the Caribbean flavors that Chef Williams brought in this video!! The tamarind description is on point and lol at tamarind fingers. Can totally relate.
Gabby just seems like the most genuine and happy person 😊
The chef seems like a real nice fella.
Oh yes. And I think you got the same activities. To smoke?
@@borobodur to smoke some buns heh

Chef Rawlston has convinced me that I can't cook another meal without a smoking gun....my wallet is already screaming at me.
"Smo-oked, smoked, smooked" lol
took everything in my power not to send it back to Epi 😅
The smoking gun also makes one hell of a smoked Old Fashioned cocktail 😉
You can get one for just a few bucks. I got one to smoke cocktails, using tea, for like $20
@@cczsus6513 Smoking food is not any more carcinogenic than using nonstick cookware or stepping outside in the sunlight.
That was amazing! Chef Rawlston repping Caribbean-inspired cuisine. Need to have more videos with him!
I want the pro chefs swap ingredients and make their own versions of each others dishes
Gabby was great, as always, her laugh is so precious. Also, we need an episode with Rawlston & Frank.
This is my first time ever seeing Ralston -- I want to see more Ralston!
I was saying the same thing
Me too!!
One of my favourite episodes! Both you guys out did yourselves
Loved when the chef replaced the potato chips with the plaintain ones. In my county, we have our seafood with plaintains. Just seeing him cooking made me feel like if it was my mother's kitchen.
Everyone: where’s frank?
Me: *jealous at how nice everyone’s kitchens looks compared to my bathroom size space*
i feel you, i live in a small 2 bedroom appartment, with a decently sized kitchen for the size of the appartment, but man it looks like a postage stamp compared to their kitchens
They probably switched to a black person to “get with the trend”
@@bowspammer5417 Or maybe Chef Rawlston is just a really good cook and Frank was unavailable. :)
@@orangemittens Probably this since Frank has his own channel now.
@@bowspammer5417 it's not like they have not had other chefs then Frank on the show before ...
This is the first time I’ve seen this chef on this channel. More of him please!!!

I love Rawlston! I want to see other videos with him he seems so fun!
I would like to know where they are getting a live Maine Lobster that size for $10.
my exact thought lmao
Yeah that’s around $35 where I’m from
Literally..
I think it’s cause they’re in New England
I've seen frozen lobster tails for $6 each at the super market. I don't know squat about Lobsters since the don't live as far north as I live and we have penty of other sea food that is a lot cheaper so never bothered to try one. I don't know if the frozen ones are the same as the live ones, but there are lobsters at that price.
This is legit Caribbean goodness ....the roast corn, tamarind, hibiscus, the plantain chips, the SHADO BENNY aka BANDHANYA called culantro here. Damn bro! Represent, we see you
The home cook is positively radiant! She got me thirst commenting lol😍

Chef Rawlston is amazing for explaining how to humanely prepare a lobster ❤
I like Rawlston. Seems like a chill guy, and I really like seeing the Caribbean influence he brings! Hope he's back more
Seems chill yet there is a 70% chance he will commit a violent crime.
MrSinister718 Without context the first interpretation of that is a racist one
@@yeon_ster Whoa. It's almost like there are actual genetic differences betweens races besides skin tone. If only enough people were intelligent enough to accept that.
MrSinister718 The way you said it, it implied that he was more likely to commit a violent crime,. And I would really like to know why a race more committing a crime would be based off of a genetic differences.
rawlston’s kitchen is so pretty omg😍

Costing a bit more than $15.
Right he should of used all the ingredients and added extra if he felt he needed to.
@@belindamartinez8946 I thing crossing out the potato chips completely was the right call, plantain hours so well in the dish
so by the time the 'pro' is done making the "$15" lobster roll... is it STILL $15? or is it now $30 because of everything extra they've added?
They should add $0.95 for each extra ingredient.
tamarind, mango, and plantains aren't super duper expensive! it was probably a $20 lobster roll at max
I mean, he didn't add anything that would bring the total up an extra 15, at most probably 20, and that's assuming you live in like New York or somewhere where these ingredients are expensive...
Cutmeloosebruce how much is that smoker tho?
@@alexissoveryhot I feel like it’s not really fair to include extra equipment, especially equipment they already have but either way it still depends on what smoker he has...

TIL that sorrel is dried hibiscus 🌺.
All these years when drinking my nan’s homemade sorrel drink, I was actually drinking the juice/tea of an hibiscus. Cool.
There a two plants called sorrel. One is the dried hibiscus like in the vid (which was probably used in the tea you used to drink) and the other one is very similar to spinach
Our sorrel is a different thing. Róselle according to google.
