- Rise and shine! Pro chef Saul Montiel and home cook Onika are swapping recipes and hitting the kitchen to start the day off right with a breakfast sandwich. We provided Onika with all the ingredients necessary to make chef Saul’s over-the-top $107 sammy, sending only $11 worth of materials back the other direction. Could our home cook rise to the challenge or did chef Saul outshine his budget and deliver a winner with his "Croque Montiel?"

Saul and Onika are my new favorite pairing. Saul dropping the fork mic after tasting his and Onika's dishes was a highlight for me. Also, their little explosion fist bump?! ADORABLE. I will never NOT love Onika personifying her ingredients as well because you know that's where the love comes in, when you talking to your food lol

The cheese trick that Saul taught is actually really helpful. I'm glad he showed it to us in the Burrito video.
it is helpful, but it was done on this channel before, whether it's grilled cheese or burger, so long you can guess the right time when the cheese is going to stick to the bread, but is not burnt on the other side, it would be perfect.
I do it after seeing it months ago and am shocked how much fat the cheese solids swim in once melted. I use a paper towel to absorb the fat in pan.

This might be the best yet! And I'm already a big fan of this series. Side note: I'm glad that the editors are now showing us a fuller picture of Onika, who is quite delightful. Until now, the '4 levels' videos have tended to show her being sassy and then ... cutting away. Knowing now that she almost always follows the sass with something self-deprecating or otherwise charming makes me really wish they'd let the camera roll a little longer before.

Honestly Saul knocked it out of the park for this one. He used the same ingredients but made a complete different sandwich to a bacon egg and cheese with sliced tomato and coffee.
Yessss finally a chef that doesn't use other ingredients from their kitchen. Saul is are savior.
This series actually makes a lotta sense. Continue doing this, pleaaaase!!! This allows the chef to be more creative with the techniques he learnt and the home cook is taught how to make new stuff and they learn techniques along the way. Win-win, for both parties, including those drooling at home.
You should make a video like this one, but where two chefs swap recipes! Like Saúl x Frank

Chefs at this level don’t do recipes. They follow their heart and their creativity. maybe a better spin would be to trade ingredients and then both make their own version plus use the other chefs ingredients to make their own new version and see how they differ from each other.

It might be good for a 1 off. I find the dynamic is so good though, because it gives the pros a chance to exercise their creativity, and it pushes the homecooks into new territory

The way she cooked his breakfast sandwich looked freaking Bomb!!!!!! I wanted a bite soooo bad. I bet it was sooo creamy from the avocado and that fried tomato sounded gooooood! Dammm I want a bite of that! The coffee ice cream was some talent right there it looked tasty and sweet! They both did a great job.

i think price per serving would give more information for wiewers is there a possibility to add this into next videos? because the 107$ looked like 5 portions but the 11$ more like breakfast for one

Saul is hands down my absolute favorite chef here on this channel. The man makes me laugh for real out load. He reminds me so much of my uncle cooking at 3am making tortillas and potato flautas. We didn't have that level of ingredients coming up in my hood but when you have a Hispanic kitchen full of simple ingredients, love and humor. Don't nothing lack in flavor baby!! Boy, what this man did to that sandwich was AMAZING. I am too vegan for all of that and I don't use coffe, but it was definitively the most radical transformation any simple ingredients ever got in this show.
