There are many methods for separating dreads at the root if or when they have become spider-webbed together, but this method will specifically show you what I do to split dreadlocks for white hair. Dread splitting at roots takes time and attention but when done correctly, your caucasian hair dreadlocks will grow out long, strong and straight. You need to separate dread roots regularly or else it could cause more problems down the road.
Watch this tutorial of splitting dreadlocks which is my preferred method of dreadlock root maintenance so after splitting I can go ahead and interlock my dreadlock roots after separating locs. Learn how to split your dreads today and become a pro with caucasian dreadlock maintenance!

I make a refreshing spray… in a glass spray bottle I use Witch hazel, water, frankincense, orange, rosemary and lavender essential oil. I also make one with rose essential oil and chamomile

How long had that been since the last separation? Also, are the congos you do have intentional or from waiting too long to separate? Loved the video btw!

@@EarthRise1968 Hey! Tbh I’m not exactly sure how much time passed since the last separation, I’m gonna guess 8 months. About the congos, (I had to google that term lol) they are not intentional. Some of my dreads were super thin so it was easy for them to get tangled into the dread beside it at the root. Sometimes it just makes sense to let them stay together and keep growing that way.
In other cases I had some breakage and thinning so letting those ones connect to the one beside gave them more strength, instead of having them break off completely so you’re left with a short patch.
I did have some dreads that were wrapped (with embroidery floss) and some with beads, over time they got really heavy which caused breakage and thinning. Gotta be careful with decorations. Another reason why I let some of them join.
