I can think of so many wonderful songs that are not on here. What about Bridge Over Troubled Water? American Pie? Two of the biggest songs of 1979 were Just When I Needed You Most and Sad Eyes. Also, If You Love Me Let Me Know by Olivia Newton John, which was her greatest song. Also, How Deep is Your Love by the Bee Gees and Easy and Three Times a Lady by the Commodores.
Blondie have released a lot of albums that you can buy and then play in the comfort of your home. Plus, radio stations still play their songs, so I don't know how you can miss something that is readily available and accessible. OMG!!!!!!
Omg I Remember all these song and the bands to ....and I loved the 70s Era of music. Some of the bands must be from the Uk and other places....because I don't remember hereing them .... here in the United States .up until 1980....
There are some great songs here, but this is a strange list. The one song from ELO is "Last Train to London," a minor disco hit, but their better songs aren't on the list, and no other disco songs appear on the list except for "Don't Say Goodnight," a minor hit from Wings. And that song appears at #11 on this list, while McCartney's "Maybe I'm Amazed" is not on the list. What is most noticeable to me is how the list shuts out almost all of funk, soul, and disco. There's not even one song from Stevie Wonder, and he was one of the towering artists of the 1970s. Progressive rock is also underrepresented here.
Interesting choices. Some thought was put into this list - there is a fair amount of variety in the selections 50-100. I like that some European pop was represented. But there is really no disco, R&B, or soul represented here, and Reggae is represented entirely by Bob Marley. Lots of other missing songs people have already mentioned here in the comments.
Phil Collins didn't release a solo album until 1981. Let It Be by the Beatles was their last album, released in May 1970. Lionel Richie didn't go solo until 1982, previously he was a member of the Commodores. Dire Straits only formed in 1977 and Sultans of Swing was their only charted song the that decade. Bruce Springsteen was churning out hits in the 1970s- but for other people- his recordings of many of the songs didn't chart while covers did. For example, Springsteen wrote and released Blinded by the Light in 1973; but it did nothing. Manfred Mann recorded it in 1976 and reached Number 1 on Billboard. This postings song selection is, uhm, eclectic. I know several of the songs listed were never chart toppers anywhere.
