10 years later, to the day, I got married. Should have just stuck with the concert.
Still listening in 2024❣️
"More Than A Feeling" is one of the most perfectly crafted songs ever recorded. It is beautiful, complex, uplifting, and unique.
Song has everything u could ask and the lyrics are so good to
They were studio tech geniuses
Tom Scholz was a 😊wizard in

100% agree. Perfect arrangement ❤❤❤❤

Beautiful complex, cousin lov3, well crafted, guitar, chilling vocals
"So many people have come and gone, their faces fade as the years go by."
We didn't know how true that was back then.
And this comment is wonderfully touching😭
I missed those years. I was about 6...we had 2 vinyls of Boston Album.
If only we can go back in those days ❤️🤟🤟🤟🤟
Why isn't this legendary band in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?? They helped define the 70's.
It’s politics. Same with Eddy Money.
Because they helped define the '70s.
And Toto
truly unbelievable
The R&R HoF is a joke compiled of more misses than getting it right. It could and should be so much more.
The guy in the white, short-sleeved shirt w/a pocket protector standing behind the stack of amps = an MIT acoustic engineer, "Tom, do it like this. It'll rock."
I think what is awesome are the normal people off stage watching. Just casual no drama.
This man is SOOO underappreciated! A top voice that NO ONE speaks about. Rest In Peace Mr. Brad.
Boston is a band that has never had a predecessor and will never have a mimic. They stand alone in their type of rock. And they KILLED it.
Something about those days in the 80’s
Great comment
Luv the song
Ehhh. Might want to do a 20 second UA-cam search. There are TONS of cover bands that destroy Boston. Sorry to burst that bubble of delusion. They were a great studio band. But LIVE? As witnessed in this live show. The vocals were awful. Pitch and falsetto vocals were horrible.
@@inthecrosshairs4480 probably had longer to practice the tunes
No flashy lights, no distractions. Just. Music.
Also a 1958 lp goldtop with p90s,
those go for half a million up these days😂
Hell yes. My old man spun this record when i was little and have been a fan ever since. Probably the best debut rock album of all time
Back in 1978 West germany Heidelberg Rhein-Neckar Hall my first concert. I was 15. Will never forget that concert.🌞🎈
Swear to god the 70s were just magical for music, we'll never see it again.
Yes, the most magic time, best music an times, bittersweet!
Who knows may be we will see it again.
An amazing time for music, that is for sure. This concert is two days before my 20th birthday. I always loved Boston
I was just a little boy in the 70s... then suffered 2 head injuries in the mid 80s... When I awoke from my coma, I didn't even know how old I was but there are still a few things that haven't faded from my mind: I'm walking through the room when the cable music station my mother was listening to played those couple distinctive notes on an acoustic guitar.... I stopped dead in my tracks! I looked to my mother and told her, "Cat's in the Cradle. Harry Chapin... N-n-n-nineteen-seventy-four!" There was a pause as my mother hit the info button on the remote control.... "Yeah! And you suffer memory problems!" she said. She and I both laughed. :-) More recently; father's flippin' channels and I hear a couple other distinctive notes on a guitar. I spoke up, "Pete Townsend /Roger Daltrey, The Who -- "Behind Blue Eyes"... N-n-n-nineteen, seventy-two!" My father was silent for a moment while he hit the info button to check me... "But Jeffrey! You weren't even born yet!" I chuckled before I reminded him that "Yeah, I was three-years-old..." My father replied from the next room, "But still!" I smiled and told him "Well, I might have been stoned all through the 80s... but that's not to say that I didn't PAY ATTENTION!" (He and I laughed and laughed after that one!) :-D
Everything was hand made from blood, sweat & tears.
Not just a different time, it was a different world.
A better world
Brings back some good memories, lifts my soul ❤️❤️❤️
Yep back then no one got offended, someone pissed you off you punched them in the face then they became one of your best friends.
I would jump back in a time machine in
A heart beat ....
Amen on that, i would like to do those years over again.
Really regret not going to see them with my friends.
Back in the 90's I worked as an amp tech at a regional music store chain in New England and a Yamaha 12 string came into the guitar repair shop which was the next room over from where I was. No big deal until I heard one of the guitar tech playing the intro to this song on it. Curious (and because I loved Boston) I went into the shop to listen. I told him it sounded just like the original recording of More Than a Feeling. He laughed and he said, "It should...this is the guitar that was used for that recording!". Holy Crap! He let me play it and now I can say I have played the guitar that opened that song...Pretty cool stuff!
Very cool!
60’s and 70’s. I was there for it. Best music ever. Never come again. Thank you Lord.
There are Great tunes in every decade. Just because you’re too lazy to find good music in the last 30 years is on you
@@cbennett196631 Nope. I tried.. Just not there. Kids today have NO idea.
Its absolutely criminal that Boston is not in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame.
Beautiful the beginning most people don't realize how cool this realize just beautiful
I was at the concert on October 1st 1979 in Frankfurt Germany. Great memories !
At 67 years old this has always been my favorite band, always loved all their music!
Also 67 and one of my favorites too!
I was born in 2005 . im half 2000s and half 2010s kid but 70s 80s 90 s rock is better than todays music a million times
It's a crime they are not in the rock and roll hall of fame.
I had a 8track of this song in my darkest teen yrs it helped me survive 💗
"I closed my eyes and she slipped away"..... just all the years since this song came out. Time really does fly.
and gets faster. dam.
This type of music has aged so well. A timeless piece of art.

And it’s just a fresh today as it was 40 years ago
Ares Apollo Very true!
When I first heard the song in 1976-77 I felt nostalgic. Today, I know what I am nostalgic for now when I hear it. The quality of the albums released by rock bands from 76-77 will never be surpassed. So fortunate to have been alive and young at that moment in time.
Me too
I have always felt that way. I got into rock and roll with Boston's first album and all the great albums from that time, skynard's one more from the road, Frampton comes alive, areosmith toys in the attic, Steve Miller's book of dreams, foreigner's debut album, I was 9, 10 years old and that music made me learn drums and played in bands from my early teens until my late 20s I totally agree with you, awesome time for rock n roll!!! 🤘🏻✌🏼 🎸
I was born in 1976.
Steve Miller Band, Kansas, Little River Band, Frampton, etc etc etc
Man they deserve a bigger crowd!
Boston - "MORE THAN A FEELING"- Ty for sharing.... I am a MA girl living in a PA world...OMG! So miss hearing this band! They are "wicked" good! It has taken me a long time to re listen to this song ... have to deal with yesterday memories ..yes I miss those days but I know they would want me to not live in the past... & I will always keep them forever safe & in my heart.... They keep me going strong...so this is good I can listen to it now with new meaning!

I got my son a guitar hero type game in 2006 when he was about 13. We would both play and try and out-do each other.
One day I came home and my son yelled out from his room: “Dad! Come here! You’ve got to hear this!”
I went into his room and he was playing the game (and doing very well) and rockin’ out. I started singing, word-for-word, the song he was "performing" which stopped him in his tracks.
“How do you know this song? This game is new!”
“Son, when I was your age, THIS was on the radio.”
Then he exclaimed these words that still ring in my ears:
“How come they don’t make music this good anymore???”
Musically, the 1970s took us to the top of the world. The 1980s kept us there. We have been on the slow downward spiral since then.
Well this 40 years went by quick.
Sure did
Dear lord yes!
Boy, ain't that the truth.
Agreed!
Seems like yesterday.
Boston's debut album was an all-killer-no-filler masterpiece. And this song, More Than A Feeling, was the crown jewel of the collecrion of magnificent songs. A feelgood song that never fails to lift my spirits up. 😊
Soooo true
and the whole thing was recorded in a basement of one man and no band.
I tingle just listening to them..I am a musician and pretty selective..
The best debut album ever.
@Wooley689 *most of it was, the vocals were done at capitol studios, Barry played on foreplay/long time, and scholz didn't play the drums
Man, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve just said “screw it,” took a drive and blasted my favorite Boston songs, hell, I even took one tonight. This band means so much to me; this band has helped me through college for the past 2 years. It might sound silly to some, however, these songs have truly helped me get through some of the darkest and depressing days. If there was one dead person I could ever meet, it would honestly be Brad. Yeah, he died when I was a kid, but honestly this dude, through his songs, has been like a “best friend” for me for the past few years. Love ya, man!
I couldn't agree more I have gone through depression 3 times in my life and this song along with so many others from this era just snapped me back into reality along with support from my 👪 family.
Same im in my 20s but something timeless with Boston! Hope you're better.
Check out Ken's version...

At 61 years old , I never get tired of this band. More than a feeling is a masterpiece that sounds as fresh today as it did in 1975. And yes, I had such a bad crush on Marianne S. In high school that just added to my love of this song!
KC sunshine band was 1975 petrified STP crust. Boston More than feelings came out 76 dust. Crosseyed on pcp elephant tranquilizer terminal buzz

Any time. I'd go back in the blink of an eye. They can shove the last 40 years, especially the last 25 of them, right up where the sun don't shine. Gimme the time machine, I'm gone, baby !
@@antondial5326 I'm totally right there with you....when do we GTFO of here
I had a band at that time, we did a lot of Led Zep, we had a fantastic singer so we took on Boston songs, the hardest part was getting the guitar tones to match, we had Marshall amps but couldn’t quite get that sounds, we didn’t want to crank them to 10 to get that sound, LOL we got by, what a time that was.
Best song ever
IT'S FUNNY HOW A SONG CAN TAKE YOU BACK TO A SIMPLER TIME IN LIFE WHEN YOU CAN SMILE AND THINK HOW LUCKY YOU WERE TO LIVE IN THAT ERA... THIS IS ONE OF THOSE SONGS.

The odds of a band member who just happena to be from MIT & brilliant musicians & a man who had the most beautiful voice of angel, mix & get a kickazz band & not for a long, long, long time we shall see it again. Every song on debut album was a hit.
Just FANTASTIC formation for long times.

Truly amazing
Back when instruments, and hair, were used to their fullest.
Nobody does today what Tom did with his guitar back then. He’s a genius.

I was only 11 at the time but I would give anything to go back in time to see this song performed live. RIP Brad. 🕊️
My favorite song growing up.
"I looked out this morning and the sun was gone
Turned on some music to start my day
I lost myself in a familiar song
I closed my eyes and I slipped away. " Magic and sadness as I hear this song. RIP Brad.
The voice of Brad was unmistakable he is missed RIP
All eight songs from Boston’s debut album get regular airplay on the radio. Is there any other album whose EVERY song gets airplay? And this was their FIRST album. Incredible.
Very True (I was there). Every song on that album was 1st class and was the soundtrack to my high school years. But then their 2nd album, several years later, was half as good. And then they were gone. "One Hit Wonders", albeit one hit with an entire album.
IKR, totally agree! Their debut album Boston - Boston is incredible. Wore out two cassette tapes in my buddys mustang back in high school. We rocked out to that album hard! lol
What can you say, they had rly good weed at the time. Just the right amount of THC, very soft, very mellow and then they had a lot of sex
*gets airplay consistently 50 years later
Van Halen
My 14th birthday. June 17th. What I would give to see them in concert. Almost 59 years old now and I still love them.
I never got to go to concerts. My first was Alabama with an older cousin. My parents were so over protective of me. Then they died. I was all alone to fend for myself, knowing nothing, naive. Now I'm living, seeing all the bands that I could only listen to on the radio. I feel like a kid. Thank God for video's. They are timeless treasures.
Sorry about your parents. You've had a tough life, but I'd bet anything you are a strong person who enjoys every minute of life as a result. I know it may be easy for me to say, but hang in there. You certainly have the right attitude. These videos/songs sure are a Godsend. Brings back some wonderful memories of what seemed to be a simpler time gone by. Sounds as though they bring you a lot of happiness as well. I wish you the very best!!!! Stay strong and keep on rocking!!!
@@jasonbroten7956 Well I was writing a reply to you and something happened and "poof" it was gone. :/ Gotta love the internet. I was just saying that I'll bet most ppl who are told that they are strong and strong bcs they "Had" to be. I could have gotten into drugs and drinking but that's not a choice I made. It has taken a toll on my nerves though. I just love Axl and they guys. I'm the type of person who will try to understand someone and why they do what they do, instead of judging them. I have a feeling that you're the same kind of person. I'll be 80 and still rocking to GNR and Axl. His life hasn't been easy either. We Hoosiers are tough!! :)
@@pammie1774 So, you are a Hoosier. I had to respond to that simply because I was born in Indiana (Washington). So technically I am a Hoosier. Thing is we didn't live there very long, and I certainly do not recall any of it. My father worked in the insurance business and when he started out, was forced to move to different places. I guess we even lived in some God forsaken town on the Kansas/Oklahoma border. My mom hated it, and she let it be known she did. Needless to say we moved out of there pretty quickly. That is one place I'm happy to say I don't recall living in. Anyway, we ended up in a very nice suburb of Mpls/St. Paul, MN. Still living in the Twin Cities area and absolutely love it. It didn't hurt that I love hockey and was blessed to have played through college. Anyway, I agree with you in regards to Axl Rose and GNR. Those guys have been through hell and back...….a few times. I'm sure you know, but David Lee Roth is also a Hoosier. Yeah, I'll always love good ol' rock & roll that blows you away. My first concert was KISS with Judas Priest back in 1979. I'm dating myself but hey, I lived through a period of incredible music that I will always love.
You still have a chance to go to concerts
I was born in 1960 and obviously my teen years were subjected to the '70's. To me the best rock music was during that era. I miss it all the time.
+tjerwin1 Don't sound so apologetic. It was an awesome time to have been there, I wouldn't have missed it for the world! We were lucky to be subjected to this, this is real music :):)
+tjerwin1 I was born in 60 too. Back then they really played good music because they really worked hard to be able to play good, now it's just a bunch of noisy cords.
+apfelprincess45 awful lot of opinions floating around on here. Sure, this time produced some great music but it's not 'real music' just because you say it is. I hate the crap on the radio as much as the next person. There is still great music being produced now. Just need to look harder for it. It's not the mainstream anymore. :( Take care.
+tjerwin1
You and me both
After losing David Bowie, I quite often find myself in a nostalgic mood. More often than not, I end up listening to the music that has given me the most pleasure and naturally has the most memories associated with it - stuff from this era
+Brody Chandler You happen to have a detailed map in wich to find this current but decent music ? All im hereing is absolute shit .
When this came out you knew this band was headed for superstardom this song can be played over and over and over and over and over and I wouldn't get tired of hearing it RIP Brad
This is rock perfection
One of the best voices ever. RIP Brad Delp.

Never forget you brad👍
So amazing how he could easily transition from his chest voice to his head voice/ falsetto.
What a talent!!
I agree ....Brad Delp's voice is angelic.

One of the greatest voices in the history of rock and roll.
The greatest! Ever!!!!
RIP Brad. You had the voice of an angel!
Y'all are Awesome Your Never Forgotten Love Y'all ❤❤❤❤
Amazing and yet then unknown. So few in the stands at yet those who were there have an everlasting memory.
This is what real music sounds like, this is legendary!
@David Roberts lie
are you kidding? This's even better live..
@D Roberts ever played in a band? It's very very hard to reproduce anything close to what you can do in studio at a live concert
@D Roberts Ok, in that case can you ellaborate on why not live?
@D Roberts as a guitar player I think Brad Delp and Tom Scholz do a great job, drums and bass are fine,
and obviously the vocals aren't that good.
So yeah, I agree, vocals sound quite bad compared to the studio version. Have a like.
Concerning the statement, I think modern music has overall better singers (talking about non-pitch-corrected aka non-autotuned vocals, no lip-sync and stuff, although without this many singers' performances likely would sound worse), but therefore most don't have real instruments anymore, which is a shame. Both would be the ultimate combination.
Just....freaking....freaking....awesome. Go watch the entire Grammy show this year...there was nothing on there that could carry the jock strap of this much talent.
Robert Beatto, the producer, has a channel on here,he did a whole analysis of 'More than a feeling's that is unreal, how it was made. In another episode he has raw vocals of Brad Delp singing and it is unreal how good it sounds he had pipes. Meanwhile most 'stars' these days have little or no talent, he had tapes of some of them singing raw,OMG. Outside people like Lady Gaga ( I have heard her sing genuinely live, years ago, in a caberet performance, she was singing the anthem live,J lo was lip sync her) and Adele, most of them if it wasn't for auto tune or studio tricks they would just be croaking on stage.
Saw them in Vail 1979, what a night, what a band!
My God if you didn't have this album and your collection you are
This band was such such a different thing than the hard rock of the time. Amazing musicianship. Tom.....genius. Brad Delp.....one of the best singers ever. His range was just unbelievable. A great loss.

I'm gonna suggest Kansas was the same kind of awesome thing and agree about the rest.
Between 1983-1987 I played basketball with tom every Tuesday night and Saturday morning in Boston...he's probably 6'4" and had springs in his legs! I had a party for about 30 friends at my condo in Charlestown and Tom was the first to arrive and the last to leave...as humble as they come...spent about 20 mins perusing my record collection....I was too embarrassed to have him sign any albums. But just a really down to earth nice guy.
This band embodied the hard rock of the late 70's. Progressive Rock was at it's creative peak and even straight ahead rock bands were borrowing ideas from some of the Prog Rock Giants like Boston and Yes. The 80's came and and Rock went into a down period though it rebounded in the 90's. Still Boston was a cut above most bands of the time.
This when music was music. Real and pure and worth what you paid for when went to a concert
When this entire album came out, this rocked the US, the riff, the vocals, kicked. The souls that weren’t alive for the greatest rock bands of this era, you were robbed and I don’t feel for ya, what I see today, you guys don’t deserve it, sad to say
I remember buying the BOSTON album and the first time we played it. We were in junior high school and now I'm 59. I love BOSTON!
Five guys sound like a chorus of thousands!!! The genius of Boston cannot be understated! THE BEST AOR ROCK BAND TO COME OUT OF THE 70's!!!
FM and some headphones. Drown out the world. That was the feeling.
Brings me back in time!!!😊
They were the hardest working band and had a sound like no other. Miss Brads voice very much rest in peace

When this album came out it blew everyone away. It was fabulous. It’s still fabulous. Todays music sucks compared to these groups. Rockn roll
I totally agree. There is no creativity in most modern music, especially due to autotune. This album really was and still is a masterpiece.
These guys have real talent not like this shit today from c-Rap to this new pop trash . Boston kansas ,foghat etc. Were amazing bands with real know how.

Ah my high school years at their best. SO grateful that I got to experience such art in my lifetime. The human race, 100 years from now, will not know what greatness they missed out on.....
When I was in HS in the early 70's, there was NO dominate solidifying band or music!!! So I missed out on what you experienced... But how how could there be dominance 1969-1973??? These were some of the Greatest releases by some of the Greatest bands-- EVER. With that kind of competition... no one could stand out like Boston did. I'm talking in my HS years EPIC releases by The Who, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Deep Purple, ELP, Alice Cooper, Chicago, and Grand Funk Railroad to name a few...
I keep watching these old Boston live shows and I realize they were in a class by themselves nobody was better love RIP Brad
