This band embodied the hard rock of the late 70's. Progressive Rock was at it's creative peak and even straight ahead rock bands were borrowing ideas from some of the Prog Rock Giants like Boston and Yes. The 80's came and and Rock went into a down period though it rebounded in the 90's. Still Boston was a cut above most bands of the time.
This is called REAL music..... never will there be a 1970s again...the sounds that came out of that decade are unbelieveable. Todays music is complete trash against this gold. Brad Delp also has the voice of an angel, in male form, you can't even describe it's beauty. I have never heard another like it. RIP. He had a rough go of life.
1965-1985 there was some great music made. Then along came the 3 note bass, so called drums and some kind of shit called (c)rap music. I suppose on some Sirius station you can find some good music still, but mainstream totally sucks.
@@indy_go_blue6048 you need to go listen to some of the modern alternative and indie rock, it’s ignorant to say everything both of you just said when there is still amazing music being produced day in day out, i would argue with the introduction of new musical production tools musicianship has only improved and new sounds are being crafted that nobody from older generations ever thought they would hear
@@sanctus_dominus163 Some artists rely on those tools way too much (which I guess means you could ask whether they're actually artists), but people with talent are able to use the tools for superior art. Every era has its quality music and stuff that sucks. You're right, people who say any era's music is/was superior to another are just afraid of growing older
Any time. I'd go back in the blink of an eye. They can shove the last 40 years, especially the last 25 of them, right up where the sun don't shine. Gimme the time machine, I'm gone, baby !
@@kirkharry yeah man. I am 18 year old in 2021 and even I know that our generation plain sucks. I have rejected the stupid cringy modern culture and have fully adapted the old school culture.
It saddens me to listen to this. Knowing that something like this time in my life will never be duplicated, it is a distant memory that is bittersweet for me.
wildtill9 That's why I listen to so much of the 60's, thru to the 80's. It's because we're living in the end times. And I feel such melancholy and sadness too. I can't even list what's being done to us citizens.
For me as well. It brings me back to much better, less complicated days. I was 9 years old when my brother got this album. Boston, KISS, Rush, etc. I feel very fortunate growing up in the 70’s.
I feel ya when I'm listening to this beloved album it is bittersweet I find myself drifting away to those days when my mom my brothers and many of my friends were still with me ' my kids are grown but thankfully the girl I've always loved still loves me and that's what's up as 60 yrs old is coming on fast
When I first heard the song in 1976-77 I felt nostalgic. Today, I know what I am nostalgic for now when I hear it. The quality of the albums released by rock bands from 76-77 will never be surpassed. So fortunate to have been alive and young at that moment in time.
I have always felt that way. I got into rock and roll with Boston's first album and all the great albums from that time, skynard's one more from the road, Frampton comes alive, areosmith toys in the attic, Steve Miller's book of dreams, foreigner's debut album, I was 9, 10 years old and that music made me learn drums and played in bands from my early teens until my late 20s I totally agree with you, awesome time for rock n roll!!! 🤘🏻✌🏼 🎸
Damn, this debut album was an absolute MONSTER. Those not around at the time may not fully appreciate it... it was so so good ... exploding on the scene. This opening track, then each and every track, bam bam bam, great stuff.
People sitting behind the stage probably watching this today and saying "Damn, if we knew how much music was going to suck 40 years from now we would have got off our asses and rocked out."
@@r0guetwinz if you're lucky enough you may live long enough for some kid gamer to call you old and jaded. The Definition of jaded pretty much describes todays music "tired, bored, or lacking enthusiasm, typically after having had too much of something"
Boston's debut album was an all-killer-no-filler masterpiece. And this song, More Than A Feeling, was the crown jewel of the collecrion of magnificent songs. A feelgood song that never fails to lift my spirits up. 😊
You can make an argument that Boston should be in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame of their first album alone. Maybe the best debut album to come out ever.
@@Brian-fy6mr Yeah, those "behind the stage" seats were for random people, some of whom can be seen going to buy beer or whatever during "More Than a Feeling" lol.
I remember riding with my best friends in college and one owned a bronco and we had the windows rolled down and no one was talking. We were just singing out loud. Omg. What a memory!
All eight songs from Boston’s debut album get regular airplay on the radio. Is there any other album whose EVERY song gets airplay? And this was their FIRST album. Incredible.
Very True (I was there). Every song on that album was 1st class and was the soundtrack to my high school years. But then their 2nd album, several years later, was half as good. And then they were gone. "One Hit Wonders", albeit one hit with an entire album.
IKR, totally agree! Their debut album Boston - Boston is incredible. Wore out two cassette tapes in my buddys mustang back in high school. We rocked out to that album hard! lol
JustCallMeMrWest You most definitely should not. Rockers always accept other rockers regardless of age. Plus those of who truly want rock music to be around forever know the torch must be passed. No way in hell that happens if the younger crowd are shunned. To me it has and always will be about the music.
From a 55 year old to a 21 year old you're more than invited and welcome to dig the killer Tunes some of my other favorite Tunes from this era are Bad Company's shooting star and of course Eagles Hotel California
This song : It's a view for every man who lost that one lady in their life . But The ending of this damn masterpiece is letting you know you can carry on . Listen, you can tell
I wish i could go to a Boston concert. I grew up to my grandparents listening to them and it just amaze me the talent is amazing. Brad Delp was my fave. He’s got the most beautiful pristine tone without even trying.
Boomers where whores more concerned with feelings and personal journeys than the state of our society. Now everyone seems to be a collectivists deprived of individualism or responsibility to be better said Lol... Those were the days.
At 61 years old , I never get tired of this band. More than a feeling is a masterpiece that sounds as fresh today as it did in 1975. And yes, I had such a bad crush on Marianne S. In high school that just added to my love of this song!
The guy in the white, short-sleeved shirt w/a pocket protector standing behind the stack of amps = an MIT acoustic engineer, "Tom, do it like this. It'll rock."
Jeffrey Smith he taught me how to play drums......he plays in a musical way. I inherited my brother old 8track tapes. Boston, Kiss, Kansas..........I feel lucky to have had them as my teachers, even if they didn't know.. RIP Sib Hashian, much love and respect to you!!
The sound that this band generated was like no other. I’m a life long Who fan; always will be. But when Boston come on the radio, my radio gets turned up and I enjoy the drive I’m on so much. It’s great to be in motion when listening to Boston.
IT'S FUNNY HOW A SONG CAN TAKE YOU BACK TO A SIMPLER TIME IN LIFE WHEN YOU CAN SMILE AND THINK HOW LUCKY YOU WERE TO LIVE IN THAT ERA... THIS IS ONE OF THOSE SONGS.
"I looked out this morning and the sun was gone Turned on some music to start my day I lost myself in a familiar song I closed my eyes and I slipped away. " Magic and sadness as I hear this song. RIP Brad.
Brad Delp, one of the greatest voices of all time. Saw these guys in St Louis in 1977 I think it was. Absolutely awesome live. RIP Mr Delp, I know first hand of your plight.
I'm sorry you know that first hand....He was a good friend of mine, and I loved him even when he wasn't easy to love. I know you'll understand that statement... God, I miss him! 💔💔
I never got to go to concerts. My first was Alabama with an older cousin. My parents were so over protective of me. Then they died. I was all alone to fend for myself, knowing nothing, naive. Now I'm living, seeing all the bands that I could only listen to on the radio. I feel like a kid. Thank God for video's. They are timeless treasures.
Sorry about your parents. You've had a tough life, but I'd bet anything you are a strong person who enjoys every minute of life as a result. I know it may be easy for me to say, but hang in there. You certainly have the right attitude. These videos/songs sure are a Godsend. Brings back some wonderful memories of what seemed to be a simpler time gone by. @@pammie1774 So, you are a Hoosier. I had to respond to that simply because I was born in Indiana (Washington). So technically I am a Hoosier. Thing is we didn't live there very long, and I certainly do not recall any of it. My father worked in the insurance business and when he started out, was forced to move to different places. I guess we even lived in some God forsaken town on the Kansas/Oklahoma border. My mom hated it, and she let it be known she did. Needless to say we moved out of there pretty quickly. That is one place I'm happy to say I don't recall living in. Anyway, we ended up in a very nice suburb of Mpls/St. Paul, MN. Still living in the Twin Cities area and absolutely love it. It didn't hurt that I love hockey and was blessed to have played through college. Anyway, I agree with you in regards to Axl Rose and GNR. Those guys have been through hell and back...….a few times. I'm sure you know, but David Lee Roth is also a Hoosier. Yeah, I'll always love good ol' rock & roll that blows you away. My first concert was KISS with Judas Priest back in 1979. I'm dating myself but hey, I lived through a period of incredible music that I will always love.

I'm from Mexico, I listened to this this song since I was a kid and I still rock with it, incredible performance! Great band, this and peace of mind are great songs both.
Ah my high school years at their best. SO grateful that I got to experience such art in my lifetime. The human race, 100 years from now, will not know what greatness they missed out on.....
When I was in HS in the early 70's, there was NO dominate solidifying band or music!!! So I missed out on what you experienced... But how how could there be dominance 1969-1973??? These were some of the Greatest releases by some of the Greatest bands-- EVER. With that kind of competition... no one could stand out like Boston did. I'm talking in my HS years EPIC releases by The Who, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Deep Purple, ELP, Alice Cooper, Chicago, and Grand Funk Railroad to name a few...
@@georgeblue1457 You forgot to edit the first one. Think of it as: Your = A belonging - "I like your cat" You're = You are. You ' are, You 're. The apostrophe is replacing the space and the 'a', as you can see above. It's a common mistake, so don't worry!
This is my wedding song for a reason.... but queen out did Boston for me specifically just because of the level of presentation and performance and creativity. Just my opinion
"When I'm tired and thinking cold I hide in my music, forget the day And dream of a girl I used to know I closed my eyes and she slipped away She slipped away" How many of you can relate to that lyric? Do you have that girl who slipped away?
Boston - "MORE THAN A FEELING"- Ty for sharing.... I am a MA girl living in a PA world...OMG! So miss hearing this band! They are "wicked" good! It has taken me a long time to re listen to this song ... have to deal with yesterday memories ..yes I miss those days but I know they would want me to not live in the past... & I will always keep them forever safe & in my heart.... They keep me going strong...so this is good I can listen to it now with new meaning!
This song was pretty good the 1st thousand times i heard it. I had it on 8 track and the radio played the shit out of it. You heard it at least once an hour.
I was only 7 and I still remember dad cranking this in his 8 track player, Dodge Duster. One line that catches my ears to this day still is "so many people have come and gone". Life...sigh...
LOL! Wow, I was driving my dad's Dodge Duster in 1978, with Jensen Triax speakers on the uplifted area under the rear window, and Clarion booster. Man, that was an incredible sounding system! THanks for reminding me!
This gives me goose bumps every time I watch it... this was truly greatness witnessed. I got to see Boston in '78 and was stunned that they could reproduce such excellent music in its entirety. Especially when they were getting so much flack for being too "technical". Hmm...
Saw them in Terra Haute IN in spring of 77. Mushroom cloud and fireworks announced their arrival onstage......Best concert I ever saw in my life.......just awesome talented men.....miss the days of such talent!

The 80's came and and Rock went into a down period though it rebounded in the 90's. Still Boston was a cut above most bands of the time.

This is called REAL music..... never will there be a 1970s again...the sounds that came out of that decade are unbelieveable. Todays music is complete trash against this gold.
