The "really old people" here may outlive you, btw. I knew many who never made it past 25. Btw, unlike today, people back then could afford to buy homes and live on their own.
I spent most of the decade of the 1970s as a teenager ('73-'79), and even though I hated bubblegum pop and disco at the time I still remember every one of these songs. After about 1986, we never had real musical diversity on the radio again, where you could hear a pop song, a rock song, a country song, a disco song, a novelty song and a New Wave song all on the same station. Try that now - damn near everything sounds alike; no matter what style it is, every song contains elements of all the other styles combined together in a mashup, and it all sounds homogenized, as if all the songs were written, performed and produced by the same people. And in a lot of cases, they probably were.
The 70s… I finished 6th grade in June 1970 and finished college in May 1980. What a decade! I remember all of these songs, even the country crossovers. To be honest with you, how could the one thousands through NOW, EVEN HOLD A CANDAL TO WHAT CAME BEFORE THEM. Twenty years of the greatest song writers of all time! Every song writer worth a crap wants to come up with great, original songs. How could they do that after the, scorched earth of the super 70s and 60s?? To be honest, the last song writer I was aware of was Cristtofer Cross in 19teen seventyNine . After him, its a blank.
Corporate crap!!! It's the same exact thing that happened to Broadway. Corporations took over and sent in the bean counters. It became all about controlled formulas to maximize profits over the art. Then in the 90's Clear Channel (more corporate overlords) began to buy up all the radio stations and it was no longer what the listeners wanted and asked to hear, but the "artists" the labels pay them to play.

BEE GEES once again ❤️Wooow!
You Should Be Dancing 18:28
the 60's 70's even the 80's when music was music. I don't know what the hell it is today.
MrLourie i call it 'Faceless Generic mash'.
