I'd like to see it today, molding a bansai is one thing, the tree's ability to survive that alteration is another. It really is very beautiful though. Great work. =D
THAT is an INCREDIBLE tree. The work you both did to it was inspiring as well. It makes me wonder I can do such bends to my upright dwarf alberta spruce...
I think I may have discovered a potential new hobby. The "Stuff You Should Know" podcast brought me here. I find the concept and aesthetics of Bonsai fascinating, but I'm not sure how much time or money is required to embark on the Bonsai journey. A bit more research must be done on my part but, having said that, spectacular work on your tree, gentlemen!
Walter White I just got my first bonsai, a Chinese Privet (£9.50 ish). I got the tree at a Japanese Garden in Cornwall. P.S. this is in the UK,not sure how it is in other countries. Hope this helps!
I have multiple trees in bonsai process. most of which I've just picked from around my yard. fairly cheap getting started. more expensive as you get into it. according to how you want to do it. it's all up to you.
Seeds are very cheap. Ive just started some japanese maples... yeah its gonna take a fair few year for a tree to be there but its a start. lol Honestly gail dont be scared to do something just do it. £3 for some seeds in the uk or by a young tree for 10 quid lol :)
When until a couple days ago you thought bonsai were naturally like that and now your watching people bend the limbs into shape with metal special glue and bits of tree
I would speculate on it being over a thousand dollars. It'd take a long time to get one to grow like that, but the sentimental value in growing one to that size is priceless, it's a very rewarding hobby.
Even if it is, you can still grow a fair sized tree in your lifetime, considering a fast growing species can get a couple dozen feet tall in a few decades in nature. A tree like that means nothing to someone who buys it for all that money just because it looks cool.
To make it looks like an old tree rather than a young tree. Branches of old trees go down with weight of the branch / snow, etc. That won’t happen naturally with a young tree.
I'd like to see it today, molding a bansai is one thing, the tree's ability to survive that alteration is another. It really is very beautiful though. Great work. =D
Need to see this tree again!! Please have a recap vid of all the bomb ass old trees!!!
Mind blowing what you two masters just accomplished... WOW!!!!

Walter White its much work and it takes years for a good bonsai
Watch "the real walter white" on UA-cam. Pretty sad. Yes bonsai is a great hobby and nobody gets killed.

Woww its incredible anticipation on that hard work..
Mabuhay ! amazing collaboration... may I know what’s the brown liquid in 1:53 ?
Hi Emily! That is Lime Sulfur that bleaches the deadwood so that it becomes white/greyish and to protect it from rotting.
Cheers,
Hans van Meer.

Gail Try a young one- they're usually pretty cheap (the older the tree=the more it costs)

Very nice tree and good work. However the pot is quite small and shallow for this size tree.
Respekt super Ergebniss
Absolutely sick
Amazing.
how old is this tree? do most junipers end up with trunks that are thick like the one on this video?
What a beutyfull bonsai.
Muhteşem. Tebrik ediyorum.
Is bonsai root washing a thing?
When until a couple days ago you thought bonsai were naturally like that and now your watching people bend the limbs into shape with metal special glue and bits of tree
Nice tree and good technique. However the pot is a bit small and it is not deep enough.
what solutions are you applying
Wow mantap
NICE WORK
Hi Bjorn,
About repoting- why you did not remove long roots?
Mostly such one, are removed, or it is coused by root system or that is yamadori?
Impressive!
So nice
What's with the rebar? I have never seen that technique before in branches
What is the specific name of this bonsai tree? Great effort btw
kaspar akgün juniperus
this tree reminds me of one you would see in the jungle book :)
WOW! Thats some tree....
What is the red liquid being brushed on to the jin of the tree?
Lime Sulfur
lime sulfur. seals dead wood and makes it turn that white color
good video!
Before they cut the leaves it looked like a giant Jungle tree in miniature. After it just looks like a bonsai
What was the stuff brushed on the roots?
That is Lime Sulfur that bleaches the deadwood so that it becomes white/greyish and to protect it from rotting.
Cheers,
Hans van Meer.
precioso
VERY work!!
bravissimi!
Would this tree be considered octopus style?
buenisimo. 👏👏👏😉😉😉
Nice👍👍
waow beutyfull
What would be the approximate cost of this tree anybody, tnx!
I would speculate on it being over a thousand dollars. It'd take a long time to get one to grow like that, but the sentimental value in growing one to that size is priceless, it's a very rewarding hobby.
Japan Tobi good luck growing that tree. probably a couple hundred yrs old.
baban606 5-$10,000 USD.

Mega Beauty:)
😍😍
name of music?
BlackPage Darude - Sandstorm
How old?
i'd say around 30+ big trunk on her
Why do you have to wire it?
Luis Armando So that it grows in the right direction.
Aquatic Doodles I wouldn't say right way, but rather a non natural way of growth so it looks like how they want it to look
To make it looks like an old tree rather than a young tree. Branches of old trees go down with weight of the branch / snow, etc. That won’t happen naturally with a young tree.
Stress training. Its not so it grows in the "right direction" its so a grower can grow his tree the way he wants too.
Because they cheat. Hahaha!
Its too big for my taste. But I do like it.
