- People are really starting to change their view about Kia. One car that is helping to make that happen is the Kia Optima SX. Under the hood is a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 that produces 245 HP and mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. It's exterior is sport without being over the top. On the inside you will find an interior that looks like it is from a more expensive car. Is the 2020 Kia Optima SX the best midsize performance sedan value?

I LOVE my 2019 Kia Optima. They’re great cars to have and so reliable. My favorite by far. And all the features that come with it, especially stock models, you get a bang for your buck

If you notice, his voice doesn't even waver. We're so used to this stuff down here that we just adjust our driving skills for it. At least he's in Tampa, in Orlando or Jacksonville the driving gets EXPONENTIALLY worse, with those two being the top two cities in the USA for traffic deaths... I think.

My wife has this car as a rental for a Honda accords 2013 repair. I am pretty impressed. We have the base model. I found the acceleration delivery to have a bit of delay and not provide the smoothness of the 2013 accord. But still the car is pretty good. Thanks for the videos.

I think Kia really hit their peak in terms of desing with this Optima. I like the interior on the 2021 model, but the exterior just isn't working for me. I love the look of the 2020 and I considered buying one.

I have the 2019 sx version of this car...Same color but seats are black...Also the inside of this car looks very cool at night cause of the ambient lights. My favorite is the red. If you put the car in smart mode the ambient lights will change colors as the car switches driving modes. Everything else is also great!

Got the 2018 SX-L, pearl white with the aubergine interior every option checked off.Must say, I get compliments almost everyday especially since I debadged it.Most likely going to get the 2021 Optima with the AWD with every option checked.

I like the current Optima in which I don't get in Indonesia (since Kia went out from the Indonesian market for a while and just came back recently with the Picanto), and I've seen the lovely next gen optima and I'm exciting to review one!!

The totally redesigned Optima has been unveiled in Korea and should be released early 2020. I still like the looks of the car and they packed it with tech. No prop Rod’s Joe.:) I believe the torque is 265 with that 245 hp engine. Seriously considering this model for my son. The Optima has very high IIHS testing. I do see dealers selling these as low as 27k for the SX.
That new Optima will be a 2021 car and it will be unveiled by April I think but not go on sale until 4th quarter. It does look awesome.
Really, I wasn’t aware they were holding it back until the fourth quarter. I would have thought they’d want to rush that out to compete with the Sonata and other brands.
I miss the 2.0 thetta ll turbo with 274hp i dont know why they drop the power on this engine but it was fun and it had tons of torque.....

Just leased a 2020 Optima sx, hoping in 36 months optima will come out with the 290hp 310trq and awd if not will get the redesigned stinger instead if they decide to continue the stinger line
looks good even to this date. Update gauge full lcd, electronic valve exhaust, make it lighter this would be a killer. Dct 8speed is a must

Hey Joe, just curious, was it Kia that told you the 0-60 is 5.7 secs? Since the 2016 redesign, the quickest I have seen 0-60 in the new Optima has been 6.7 secs. Some have even been above 7 secs. Even the more powerful first gen Optima with 272hp was only 6.2 secs. Maybe the 2020 is just that much quicker though. I hope so. I have always really liked all generations of the Optima, and can't wait for the new one.
I saw it on a stat sheet. Maybe my eyes are going! I wouldn't be surprised.

You know we in Canada don't get the SX, we have the EX and EX+. It's a Zonk for Canada but I will live with it lol but its still a nice car overall
There's a brand new 2020 Optima SX for sale here in Dayton, Oh with the discount and incentives currently it's at $23,400. I'm thinking about hopping on it

I'm definitely thinking about it. I like staying in the H/K/G brand. I'm wanting either a Forte5 SX, Forte GT, or a Elantra GT N Line. I'm really wanting to get a hatchback for the versatility but those are the same price as the Optima and it has 40 more HP and nicer overall quality. I have a 2014 Malibu LTZ and drive my 2009 Spectra5 waaay more. Hyundai and Kia are just the best new deal pound for pound
@@_dmfd Regardless of what you go with, make sure you know which incentives you qualify for. The online process with incentives may not be for everyone

Great looking car and a strong contender. I considered one when I bought my Accord Sport 2.0t manual, but I thought and still think the Honda comes out ahead. The Koreans are certainly stepping up their game overall.

There is a lot of cabin noise on most highways but super flat asphalt , it’s coming via wheel archs and windows . driving it , you will learn not to pick your next car based on looks

Seeing it in South Korea if that is the same styling that comes here i would zonk the fast back look. There to many cars on the road today with that styling example Accord, Civic, Sonata.

I bought a previous rental 20 LX, wanted a 20 sonata so I got the Kia for 7k less, plus it has rear parking sensors, a blind spot monitoring system, Kia screams value plus it'll be more reliable than the 20 sonatas because of it IS a year aFTER FACELIFT.

Raiti another good review. After watching your review on the Kia GX and now the Optima!! I think I might get a KIA when I trade in my Jetta TSI. I will look up the torque spec but at 245-HP this is a standout for this class. KIA here I come. PS: Torque is 260 ft lb ..

I was torn between the accord, Camry, and optima and let’s just say I test drove all of them and I loved the exterior of the accord, the drive of the Camry, and the overall comfort of the optima. Being a mom I chose the optima. I’m not someone who wants to keep cars for 20 years anyways lol if you are get a accord because the Camry felt like I was in a toy car so squished!!!

Thats a very premium german looking interior. OH WAIT one of VW/Audi head designers switched to working for Kia years ago! (Long gone are the days of Korean/Japanese cars looking cheap).

@@LS1007 that's more like it. Decently quick for the price after incentives. Nice middle ground between the upper and lower Camry/Accord trims. I'd take this over the 1.5T Accord and 4cyl Camry. The top trims are another story.

Nice looking car. If KIA employs former Audi designers, then VW must have used former Buick designers from the 1990’s to design the Passat.
A zonk to all other Optima trim levels because the SX is the only version that comes standard with a spare tire.

yea....I don't know. I have a 2013 Kia Optima SXL and looking at the specs, I'll stay with that. I personally think the 10-13 Optima SXL models are still the best ones(even with the recall). They have that sleek design with the dovetail in the back. The 16+ models all drop in horsepower and torque......

If this was around two years ago when I was looking at my Accord Sport 2.0 10AT I might have gone with this, assuming same price. There are a lot more amenities in the SX for sure but I think Honda has better reliability and resale.

I used to own a 2013 optima. Great overall vehicles, terrible resale value. You can find a used 2013 kia with low milage, where I'm from, for 9k

YOU MUST check out the interior design of Nissan sentra 2020 , it looks exactly like Mercedes Benz ( ia m not kidding ) . ...dont waist your 33000 hard working money on this optima 2020
It's going to be interesting. The Sentra is not a competitor to the Optima though. It competes with the Forte.
That's exactly my point ....Sentra 2020 was designed for china population ( called syphly ) to ACT like ( Altima / optima / accord ) to serve the middle class of china ....Sentra 2020 is acting like Altima/ accord / optima ) but much cheaper price for chines buyers ...I hope you got my point .... it was brilliant strategic move by new Nissan management to capture china market
in addition , sentra 2020 WILL eat Kia forte for lunch ...( BTW , I do have a manual transmission Kia forte 2019 and loving it )...my bad luck , Nissan Sentra 202 0 is NOT offering manual transmission for 2020 which is very disappointing :( ....I just LOVE so much the new interior of Nissan 2020 sentra . ...for 23 K is THE most beautiful interior design in the market ( including maxima / altoma / sonata / Altima / corrala / Toyota camery ....)
