County Pot to Lancaster Hole via Manchester Bypass - Full Trip
Вставка
- Опубліковано 31 лип 2024
- This is the (almost) uncut footage from a County Pot to Lancaster Hole solo trip in the Ease Gill cave system. It is almost three hours long, and not designed to be watched start to finish (although you can if you want). I have included some timestamps below for each part of the route, for your reference.
Unfortunately, later on the video (Monster Cavern to Fall Pot area), the video quality degrades significantly. This is because my GoPro cannot keep up with the sheer size of these passages, combined with only a head torch for lighting. This setup works fine in small passages, but in larger ones you tend to just see what is immediately in front of me, surrounded by darkness. Apologies!

It‘s 2 AM in Germany and I can’t stop watching. Not a caver myself, just fascinated.
I'm really glad you enjoyed the video, Andreas!
@@andrewnorthall you’re so welcome! Thank you for posting the entirety. I always want to see the whole way through and most people show edited clips.
Same here
The UA-cam Algorithm does its job 😂 Same here ..... watched it before sleeping
Well, to each their own BUT I can tell you, I was ecstatic to find a 3-hr, uncut caving video to watch while I work. Thank you so so much for sharing this!
Unedited, no intrusive music just informative captions. Excellent mate!
That is fkn insane. Alone- so many things could go wrong. I'm just amazed. Thank God your still here. Thanks for taking us along for the adventure. Damn that was a long video. So much for productivity today. But I got to go caven.
That was one hell of a slog mate! That Spangle Passage in the bypass may have had me wishing I’d been somewhere else. Especially dragging that rope bag along. BH! Never been one for soloing, but we’ll done. Great video.
That ffs at 1:11:27😂 I am up after 1am watching your crawl of he!! In entirety!
Thank you so much for watching.
It's interesting how you meticulously you prepare the things you do. You plan ahead. I hold our creator in awe on his creation, that is our world.
I WOULD NOT have been surprised if
the words "MY PRECIOUSSS"
came echoing through that cavern.
😆Haha! 🎶California Dreamin'
on such a winter's day🎵🎶
You're a brave Chap. Congratulations!
Cheers From: Reno, Nevada 🇺🇸U.S.A.🇺🇸
This gave me a good chuckle! Thanks for watching!
I watched the whole thing. Whilst I will NEVER EVER understand the appeal of caving, I appreciate the hard slog that was to make it through. I just wish you’d shown the bit when you finally get into the fresh air at the end!
Thanks for all your HARD WORK. a lot of that cave looked VERY UNFORGIVING. BE SAFE DOWN THERE.
I can hardly stand to watch this. You are an awesome man! Would have enjoyed seeing you come into the daylight out of that hole.
Every time you adjust your light I freak out like I'm beside you. "Turn That SHit Back ON!!"🤣🤣
Amazing footage! Thank you for sharing
Such an awesome video, thanks for sharing!
sat and watched the whole video trip all i can say is it has sparked an interest in caving and potholing ive done some caving before but only a little bit as a group party . now i want to join a club to see what the rest of the systems ive seen look like
That was definitely worth a sub. I just sat through your entire video with my jaw hitting the ground amazed and stunned, you are one very brave man i have to give you that. Then that noise which I am assuming was a rock falling around monster area? I was like "Oh Hell No..!!!" Fair play to you thou bud if that is what makes you happy in life I wish you all the best, as for me ever trying anything like that Nope Nope and another Nope. hehe all the best my man.
Thanks for watching the entire thing, that’s dedication. Really appreciate your time and the comment 🙂👍
Uneditted and no music. Just the truth. Awesome.
Well done. You did it. That was awesome. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for watching and your kind comment!
it looks like your climbing between 2 huge dragons coiled into a cave. Awesome video. I hope to one day to be brave enough to do what you are doing.
Love the part when you started listening to music ^^
This trip is really interesting for a non-caver ^^
Finished off the whole vid except a few of the last 20 min. yesterday (watched 90 min. 1st viewing). Forgot to like so came back next day here which may mean something. The bit of singing was OK but the music distracted. Your peek back at the camera towards the end gave an idea of who I was watching.
This would make a excellent first person video game!!
Am excited and scarily same time
I just wanna say I love the work you men are putting in. Don’t stop keep creating music.I love how you guys work together.
This would be so much fun. I’m 46 now and have severe rheumatoid arthritis so my exploring days are few now. I wish I could do this before I turn back into dirt though.
Very entreating. Almost had me believing it. Then i got it. good job.
This is crazy man 😱
brings back memories
Just crawling through miles of horrifying tunnels jamming green day. Got my sub all the way from Charleston SC, USA
1:49 ❤❤ you indeed walk alone. Poetic hearing the guitar echo in the cave a bit too!
It’s 6am in Western Australia 🇦🇺 and have been watching for ages braver than me that’s for sure 👍🇦🇺
Cheers mate. Appreciate your time.
Quite a journey to undertake alone. I've been fairly deep in some limestone caves in southern Indiana, USA. That blinding darkness and silence is a force for sure. What all did you have packed away? Extra lights, I'm sure.
Amazing how much faster solo is. We did Lanc - Wretched Rabbit about 20 years a go as a group of 6, and it took us best part of 6 hours. Nice vid.
Thanks Mark - there’s a lot of resting or eating/drinking etc edited out of this video, I think the overall time is around 5 hours! Amazing that I spent almost 2 hours doing nothing at all - but that is also the pleasure of solo activities - if you want to take it steady and enjoy the environment at your own pace, you can.
Watching these videos is so inspiring, wish I could do this as a hobby but i don’t know where to start or who to talk to about this :(
@@NatoNuKe usually the first step would be to find a nearby caving club who can lend you equipment to use and teach you how to cave safely! What country are you in?
@@NatoNuKe where are you? There's a lot of easy runs you can start on that give you the confidence and allow you to test any equipment you buy such a torch and headlamp reliability and if your boots are ok. You don't need to spend much to get going, a pair of wellies, hard hat, headlamp and torch and maybe waterproofs. If you are in Yorkshire /ish try Yordas then Great Douk and go from there (in a small group) (both free to access).
I am up to 01:54:14 You are an awesome caver man. Coming back to watch tomorrow.
Thank you so much!
That was a real trip down memory lane. I'd have done the old route via Poetic Justice as it seems pleasanter. Unfortunately some very strange farting noises appeared on the soundtrack around the Minarets - had to turn the sound off. Nevertheless a very enjoyable video of a favourite place. Please do some more.
Never never don't go to a cave alone! ❤
I used to cave. Old with knackered knees now. Wanting to go down there now!
Enjoyed the maze of the cavern
Amazing video. I'd love to do that trip. Alone too? Great job!
Kickass!
Is it a playoff between being dry.. er and overheating in PVC clobber ? A1 videos guys as always favorite channel fullstop.
I hate tight spaces, idk how you do it. Watching you is like therapy. Desensitize myself.
Quick question about the rope work. If the first pitch down wasn't pre-rigged, how would you have gotten your kit back? Would you rig a retrievable abseil? Or circle back around once you had finished your trip to gather your rope again?
So cool
Awesome, have you thought about getting an XHP90 headlamp?
There is a cave similar to this one in Covington West Virginia that leads to two big underground chambers with pools of water in them that you are sble to walk around.
At 42 minutes: how did they get a ladder that size in place?
not seen this ch b4 . im 20 mins in n you iz loco looks like great fun but id be freakin terrified lol
Archer saying "do you want to die? ... cuz thats how you do it" comes to mind
Nice quality video. Read on Wikipedia a man died here in 2020
Yes, unfortunately there was a diving accident in the main downstream sump, I believe. I don't dive, so don't know an awful lot about it. I've been to the sump and it's a fairly ominous place, though.
Not brave enough to be a caver but have just watched this from start to finish
I am in absolute awe
The bravery and skill to tackle this challenge is beyond belief
I have a question though
What would have happened if the rope was not there at the finish
Is it scalable without?
Well done Andrew 👍👍👍😊
Hi Rich, appreciate your kind words but I wouldn’t take too much credit - lots of people complete this trip! I put the rope at the end before I started but you are always a bit nervous if something happened to it or it got caught up before it reached the floor. If it wasn’t there it’d be a walk back out the way I came!
That first passage reminds me of a slot canyon.
@1:43. Happy holidays!
42:29
HOW THE HECK DID SOMEONE GET A LADDER IN THIS PLACE !? 🤯🤯🤯
prolly brought it in pieces, then assembled it together
You should link up with the Action Adventure Twins when they rope down that 430ft drop they found on their last video
Do you tell someone when you go down in the cave
How did you know where to go?
I understand now
What is the approximate distance covered horizontally and also there appears to be so much debris that has fallen
Is there a risk of it falling on you while you undertake such scrambles
So many questions sorry 😂
This caving is strenuous work. After a session of caving, you must shower and grab a bite to eat.
The struggle was real with that bag. 🤔
Try sleep with no pain. Is a blessing
Good night
Why do this on Christmas day?
Who the hell brought that long ladder all the way down there? Lol. That must've been like a real-life version of those puzzle games where you have to try and fit the pieces through spaces they don't appear able to fit through.
Whoever it was, I’m very grateful!
@@andrewnorthall No doubt! That was one heck of an adventure. Thanks for sharing, bud!
@@andrewnorthall I've been trying to determine which side seems like it would be more forgiving for lugging a ladder all the way down there. My conclusion? Neither.
🤣🤣
You could see that it was made up sections bolted together.
I'm more fascinated that you don't talk the entire time, I talk to myself constantly...
blvrd of broken dreams prolly hits different down there🙂
At 35:45 if I didn’t know better, You seem / appear to be lost. I can tell that they need to mark the caves extremely good. So as to guide folks. Underwater cave divers you know, use twine.
Let’s link up and do Santa Cruz hell hole bro!
I thought number one rule was never cave alone
It looks like you're being pulled through a knot hole.
Anyone else feel like doing this by yourself is just too risky.? I'm not a caver (Although I have been caving) so maybe I don't know what I'm talkingabout.
1:08:52 bro. I felt that too bro. Geeez I was having trouble breathing just watching ……:: well never mind. Back to hyperventilate we go.
I wanted to watch but then I realized I didn’t want to sit through 38 commercials. Skips or or not
I put this on Facebook.
All those foot prints. But no big foot prints. No little foot prints.
What’s so important about those bags I always see other spelunkers like you, Dragging them with them all over the damn place????? What’s inside them that makes them so important????
I use the bag to carry my vertical kit when I’m not using it, as well as some food, water, batteries for my GoPro, phone and some spare rope. Thanks for watching.

Went down county pot with my mate for my first caving experience. We got too painters pallet. Then came back the way we came. It was unreal.

They mean
And to think that the waters choice, was to choose the path of least resistance. The extraordinary properties of water, to on the one hand, sustain all of life, be it on land to deep within its depth’s, only to note it’s corrosive properties when acknowledging its destructive powers as it influences literally everything it comes into contact with. I get claustrophobic under the weight of my duvet and would pose a significant hindrance to making any headway, when with even the most basic and elementary maneuvers to contend with, would be met with a blubbering imbecile, convinced of the futility of the exercise accomplishing anything worth while.
if only I could conquer such a journey instead of it, from overwhelming me.
Watching those that venture beneath the surface, meet with consummate ease, such obstacles as vertical cliffs, to huge waterfalls and innumerable tight squeezes from the comfort of my armchair, smug in the knowledge that my feet are tucked up beneath me, snuggled in luxurious lambs wool slippers and a steaming hot aromatic coffee awaiting my attention. For now, with each excruciating encounter, I can at least sigh and with some relief, take some comfort from the fact that those who do venture beneath our feet, do so responsibly. Respect
A lovely comment! Thank you.
You need more light. I love watching exploring, but it's hard to watch this.
Great effort though.
Hmmm.
Not let any go further they tell me
That ti y face is my minds eye
You see that you know I am watching you
Thus said
I speak In toung
If ever I go for a walk nd hear faint sounds of music coming from down below I will know it's only a cave walker called Andrew.
Long time spelunker here, the video is amazing, but going on your own, is really sketchy....... Safety first, always safety.....
It would be easier if you were to push the bag in front of you rather than dragging it from behind!
You’re quite right. Not sure why I wasn’t…
Would have been improved with dialogue.
Bad cave! Every picture is close quarters.
Nothing scenic. It also doesn't look like any fun traversing it.
Watching you mess with that bag the entire time is very frustraiting, plus being that you're alone makes it difficult for us to get a real sense of the surroundings and your struggle.
I suggest all to check out mudfossil university.U will never look at a rock nor a cave the same way again.."It wasn't a rock-it was a rock lobster" !!!...a perfect analogy would be to imagine these guys were venturing inside the ventricles of a giant creature or being's heart system-or perhaps the entrails of a digestive system..
