- OC - Lakewood - 234 Lincoln St. - Structure Fire - 2nd Alarm
Around 11:20 PM Lakewood Police got a report of a working structure fire based on details of Engine 5 arriving they struck a general alarm for the township. E-5 had heavy fire out the C-D first-floor windows extending towards the roof. Crews made a push inside with 1.3/4 attack line and knocked bulking of the fire on the first and second floors. That fire quickly spread to the attic area where crews couldn't reach it. The fire started to spread to the roofline and crews were inside trying to open the ceiling as best as possible to hit the fire. Ultimately the fire spread was uncontrollable with the inside line and they switched to a defensive position with master streams. They quickly knocked the fire with these then went back inside to finish the attack job. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

Nice background for that ladder nozzle not shooting any water on that fire blowing through the roof.
Dale Wiley@ what a waste of equipment and manpower, these guys are just watching the house go up in flames...😳
Nice video, very professional quality. Nice angles around the fireground. Well done.
Appreciate that!
Yikes! They admitted the interior attack wasn't working, yet at 18 minutes into the video, there STILL was NO water from the outside. But lots of personnel standing around watching that beautiful house burn through the roof. As fast as that cannon put out the main fire, why couldn't it have been used sooner?
American style
When a fire gets traveling through the walls and into the cockloft areas outside water application won't work. I f the roof caves in, hopefully with no firefighters still inside, then application of outside water will help. It's not as easy as it looks.
@@RLTtizME instead of YOUR criticism, if you are a fireman why don't you explain to the rest of us so we can learn and understand why they do what they do?
I agree, why put a ladder up and not use it?
@@shawnbrown3435 No not really sweetie. How so?
Good video. The only thing that gets on my nerves (not at all camera operator) is the yard breathers. If your standing outside not close to the fire building, turn your pass alarms off. People get used to hearing it and think nothing of it when it goes off. That's not good. It could actually be someone down.
That will happen when hell freezes over.
PRAYING ALL GOT OUT SAFE ! THANKS J,S,F,R GREAT JOB AS ALWAYS ! GO AHEAD BROTHER !🇺🇲
Yes they were away for the holidays. Thank god!
@@samuelblobstein3617 hi Shmuly it’s chava
it was my house
And folks this is how you burn down a house. What a joke.
I have made a decision that if i want to buy a home, the first thing i am going to do is remove all siding. The next thing is install sprinklers in the attic, garage, and laundry room. Also, nothing will be stored in the attic. It amazes me how hard it is to put out attic fires that then spread into the walls. I've watched videos where so much water was poured into an attic fire that just kept roaring back.
Gaining access to some parts of peoples attics or rooms due to heavy clutter is a real issue ff face, if you can’t reach the fire to put it out & its not out the roof yet you’ve got an issue
@@jerseyshorefireresponse From what I have seen on these videos that is so true. It doesnt matter if it is ancient, old, new or just completed construction. Clutter, open floor plans, incorrectly stored construction materials, carelessness with flammables seem to be the biggest problems. Add to that all the human factors, ie unattended cooking, candles, smoking, even bbq grills too close to the house. Our firefighter's and police and Emt's need to celebrated and paid a whole lot more. Thank you and all of your compadres who responsibly make these videos for us to learn from. You are not gawkers but educators and who knows how many lives and homes you have saved.
Good job on your videos New Jersey Keep up the good work and the good videos be safe God-bless From Pennsylvania
That is a lot of firefighter standing around😲
My department cannot put 12 men on an initial attack. These departments have more than that just standing around. My thought is that if the IC cannot figure out what to do with them, then start to demob.
Initial interior attack but the truck functions were completed. The truck crews are just standing around. The windows needed to be knocked out where a ground ladders were placed & the ladders placed into the structure to facilitate urgent egress. Aerials were positioned but ventilation was not completed. Aerials were already on the A & D sides so the 3rd should have been directed to the B or C side if possible.
Excellent work here, bud!
Three questions:
Are there more firefighters ore more spectators watching the fire?
Are firetrucks buid for standing around?
Isn't usually water used for extinguishing a fire?
Don't take me too serious ;-)
They should have used the ladder trucks to begin with Got everybody out The fire Would have been out an hour ago
So sad to see this beautiful home burn down. I'm Saying down and I haven't even watched the whole video yet.
That house was mine😢
Can solar panels cause roof fires or electrical fires? Can the FD Plull the main electrical breaker or pull the meter?
Despite the valiant efforts of the firemen fighting the fire inside the building, it seems to me the 'knowledgeable' supervisor should have realized much, much sooner that the tactic wasn't working and a different one was needed. If the ladder hoses had been utilized sooner, the fire would have been controlled before becoming so out of control.
Exactly!!
Yep...2 Ladder trucks sitting there doing absolutely NOTHING !!
@@douggriffin2910 .. This happens over and over in NJ.. It's unbelievable.. And you have 24 firefighters standing around watching and looking like they have no clue what's going on.. LOL
@@douggriffin2910 The fire is on the underside of the roof, so putting water through the areas that have burnt through will do nothing, except damage the interior of the building and run out through the front door.
It was only when the gable burnt through, that the ladders could get water onto the burning underside of the roof. Unfortunately, she sheer volume of water, along with falling parts of the roof, causes extensive interior damage.
The moment that the ladders are deployed is a moment of defeat for the interior crews who had worked hard to save the building and it's contents.
And if you want to put out the fire on an already collapsed roof, don't use the jet at maximum pressure! All you do is destroy! Leave the jet on "rain" and you will drown the fire with water. Bad way of operating the ladder
Why did ladder 5 take so long too put water on the fire. Even after the fire went through the roof?

Great video
My homeowner's insurance premiums spiked just watching this
What does the chirping noise come from and what does it tell the firemen ? Thank you
It's a PASS alarm -- Personal Alert Safety System. They're worn by firefighters and can be activated manually if the firefighter is in trouble, but they also are activated automatically if they remain stationary for a certain period of time. The idea is, if a firefighter were to become incapacitated, the alarm would automatically go off (since they are immobile). But a firefighter can be stationary without there being an emergency -- if they're just kneeling or standing very still -- and that's what you're hearing here. But you really, really shouldn't be hearing it, or at least you shouldn't hear it for a prolonged period of time. All a firefighter has to do to turn it off is move a little bit. Hearing the alarm go off all the time is a problem, because it creates the risk that people won't take it seriously/urgently (and maybe won't even really hear it) if a real emergency was to occur. Imagine if your smoke detector just randomly went off all the time...
How Many Exterior Hand Lines Do They Have Stretched And In Operation????????? They Are Amusing To Watch!!!!!!!!!!
The tower can not put water onto the fire with fire fighters in side because they would be boiled by the steam and knock them down by the force of the water , please correct me if I am wrong
Am I the only one who thinks if they had pulled the crews out a LOT sooner and went to using the ladder trucks this fire would have been put out a lot quicker. The minute those flames were shooting out of the roof the way there were to me would have said, "Time for a whole lot more water on this fire".
@@trvman1 I agree with you, unfortunately everyone is trained in a different way of approaching fires here in Ontario Canada the fire departments have a full couple weeks of training of new and updated strategies on how to approach fires of different things, material and environmental issues are changing so fire fighters try to keep updated on new things and issues, this goes for all fire fighters, I hope this wasn’t confusing I am not good at explaining
@@trvman1 Who cares about the house, if firefighters are still conducting a search inside ?
Can someone in the know comment on the point at which implementation of aerial tactics take place? I recognize the danger of high-pressure water going into the same space as firefighters, but would a temporary retreat be advisable to a lower floor while water is put into the attic from above. It is painful to watch these beautiful old homes burn.
This house was only built in 2007.
I was thinking the same thing myself……
House doesn’t look old. Newer type 5 construction. Cheap wood trusses
Not advisable to do while memebers are still inside due to potenial collapse hazard. Nothing says just one floor would drop , multiple floors could fail and collapse. All members should be removed if transitioning to defensive attack.
This is my home this year it would be 15 years. Old
Fine reporting sir! Thanks.
Did they have water issues ? I’m just curious why they wouldn’t put those 2 trucks in service sooner ?
How do you know that there’s a fire and to drive there
Probably has a scanner tuned to city frequencies, dispatch will give the address and type of fire to all responding companies.
I don't understand why the fire wasn't hit with the hoses before it took hold so badly. Surely early intervention would have saved this poor house
From a layperson perspective those firefighters inside the house trying desperately to control the spread and get it knocked out are really heroic and dedicated to the service, sadly this house must be incredibly difficult for just the crew alone as is fin evidentiary the case, humanely as possible is a miracle, 💪👍❤.

@@kevincampbell7276 absolutely Kevin, one of my biggest concern is my home burning down, it's a truly horrible feeling as here with all our home's are very light wooden home's, earthquakes are my second feeling as we have a thousand of earthquakes per year mostly only 4 or under but thankfully after 42 years it's holding up, mind you the cracks are everywhere, 😠.

Great video as usual! Thanks bro
Great catch & great video
Why didn’t they hit the fire with from the top from the trucks?
WELL DONE
SUE!
What's the purpose of bringing in areial trucks and not using them?
Yes....but easy for you to say.
I really really loved that house we had it for 15 years
Jersey Shore as always great job on the video and don't let anyone say different always be safe and great job to all the firefighters ❤🚒
30 million dollars a year at the seen and they can't save a home?.?
Has anyone noticed that a lot of these buildings have solar panels all over the roofs?😮 So many fires in New Jersey Area........
Yea but had nothing to to with starting the fire!
Wow. I hope all was okay. Nice antique home...Firefighters seemed bewildered..Flamed were here..Their..Flashing when it wanted too....
If you’re gonna place ground ladders make them useful and take out the windows. The one hand line crew had no support based on this video. 20 outstanding firefighters and a useless drone.
Why did it take over 18 minutes to start water? I’m no expert but if I saw a bunch of firemen standing around I’d be very frustrated. What was the delay in taking action with so many there?
They were attacking the fire from the inside. You keyboard firefighters are forgetting that video doesn't show us everything what is going on.
It didn't take that long
They had already started an interior attack before the camera even got there
why did it take so long before the Ladder truck started using water.. should have been putting water on when flames appeared. yes i know they were trying to fight
it inside
Great coverage brother 👍
Where is the water???
On your brain?
Great video, and please fire crew lay off the canoli pudgiest crew I've yet. Glad you're all safe.
are you on the fire department?
Dozens of firefighters just watched the house burn, watch it over and over and you'll know where you went wrong. why don't you spray water on the roof from above stubbornly? Firefighters are brave people, but I think the management is wrong!
Hey Ali Oz@ I was thinking the same thing, everybody's just standing around watching the damn house burning down. 😳
While they're are crews inside, you absolutely DO NOT spray water in from outside, especially high volume from a ladder pipe. If that stream hits someone, or the wood and debris þhe stream breaks loose hits someone, it'll be a very bad day for them. More than once in my 26 years in the fire service, I came out the door looking for who sprayed water in a window while we were inside working.
Hey guys she’s my aunt her name is Mimi she has 9 kids she’s divorced and now her house brined down send some love I’m so sorry for her😭😭😭 and ik not kidding Like seriously pin this send prayers I feel so bad it happened on pesach😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Are these fire depts. volunteer or paid.?
This one has two staffed trucks 24/7 engine & ladder rest of the FF in town are volly
everybody is just standing around once again WTF MAN??
A good faught intterior but it was obvious this fire was going to transition to a defensive ops. As long as searches are negative and with the winds its best to move to a defensive! Good call IC! Hit with ladder pipes for a few minutes, reassess, and go back to offensive if knocked down good! If not remain defensive.
Expectorate. Navigate. Aviate. Always good advice Big Al.
Houses are wooden structure and easier to get burn, then collapse and trap firefighters.
Can house be built with concrete?
Great video, these guys are a joke. The fire department brought their own crowd.
What street?
Description
How Many Exterior Hand Lines Do They Have Stretched And In Operation????????? They Are Amusing To Watch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Too much firefighters work with tools and standby
They got two ladder trucks and they just started spray water on the fire the whole house is destroyed because they didn't use the ladder trucks earlier
You do not spray from the exterior when you have FF's on the interior... derp
As I watch this and so many more, it seems it take forever for the ladder trucks to be used. I would make them main priority if at all possible. I could be wrong, but if they would of been using the ladder unit as soon as the first flames started shooting from the roof it might of helped in maintain a better control of fire. Just my opinion.
Well done
Has solar panels on roof this can be risky and tricking to deal with especially if fire as extended into the attic. Almost have to figure out a different strategy to access from interior, or allowing fire to vent itself! Looks like firefighters having to also be concerned about being a wind-driven fire. Many factors for the IC to be considering on this fire. Be Safe to all firefighters!!
They'll just smash those solar panels like the windows and toilets.
Its called, putting water on the fire , not ,,,,let's think this over!, They all dont get it and the tax payers are getting screwed!,
@@stevehamman4465 You are kind of a crabby wacko…being disrespectful to your brothers in the fire service….Hambone.
No issue, smash them. Problem solved
Where in lakewood??
Arlington x Lincoln
Why are they setting around put the fire out
why have the ladder up if they dont use it ???
They should have water already on the roof from the aerial ladder trucks instead of just sitting there doing nothing which could prevent it from spreading how incompetent are they
As with another commenter....your personal grooming is a matter of embarrassment for all of us. We beg of you...do something about that.
God bless our emergency workers 🙏
When that fire broke through the roof that intense, we should have been hearing the " all out" air horns blowing, so the ladder pipes could be put in play, and before the cheap truss roof came in on the crews upstairs working. All those guys standing out in staging, they could have had a couple more hand lines up stairs working, instead of just the one we could see spraying
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
What is the point of having two ladders up with only one shooting water? They had tons of time to get both ladders ready. Tons of equipment from all over doing nothing and lots of firefighters standing around. This cannot be the way to fight a fire!
Maybe the second ladder was there for occupatnts
I wondered about that, too; I’ve noticed this in several videos. Maybe when they have firefighters inside they put up a ladder for emergency egress?
Am I missing something? 6+ minutes into video and still no water 😮
There was water being put on the fire the entire time
Wow
3 trucks with water cannons and these idiots are not using them, I would definitely sue the city for letting my house burn down.
You do not spray from the exterior when you have FF's on the interior... derp
no water comming from ladder truck at all. hose is flat.???????
Not at all impressed with how this fire was handled.
We have been disappointed with your personal grooming. Do you need some direction in that regard? Also....you are a real downer personality...sour and disgruntled. Address your bitterness for our sake.
i find it funny to listen for the call of more man power while there is a line of men standing around doing nothing but watching the house burn. one crew on the inside doing all the work. reminds me of more of a road work crew then a group of fire fighters. then they are just airing out the ladder and then while that ladder is doing nothing at all they call for a second ladder truck so it also can do nothing at all. come on guys that ladder could have been putting water on that fire at a safe rate. and then the hose going across the road stopped any of those in coming trucks from getting close to the house so they were useless. one of those in coming trucks should have been directed to come down the side street, a second and 3rd hose and crew should have been sent in from that truck. they had the man power between 22 and the guys standing around.
I miss my house
man jersey gets a lot of fires 🔥
wow i am not a firefighter but the response to this sure looks a lot different than the newark ones i have watched
I always wonder WHAT causes most of these fires? You see it in the middle of the day or at night. It usually seems to happen in the attic or upper floor. I wonder why ?
It started on the first floor it was an electrical fire
Getting from Germany 🇩🇪👍
Why is there no water on this fire?????
Great video man, it’s amazing some of the brain dead comments you get on here.
Need more ppl standing around. Who brought the marshmallows and chocolate.
I was wondering, how can all the searches be complete and negative, but it’s a fatal fire??
No where does it say fatal fire.
Just so you no you need to have more trust
Should Have Realized From The Beginning - With The Color Of Smoke And How Much - They Had A Severe Attic Fire 🔥!!!!!! Pulled Everyone Out - Set Up Exterior Hand Lines For The Eaves And Put The Goofy Latter Hoses In Operation - No Just Stand Around - Poor Command!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And Don’t Tell Me About Additional Water Damage!!!!!!!! They Ended Up With That Anyway And A Completely Totaled Building!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nobody needs your help, criticisms are suggestions. Focus on your own personal improvements. In doing so...you will not have any time left to make suggestions to others. Now scram.
The fightercalmers knew what they were doing
great to have quad copter to get a birds eye view
What are the ladder trucks doing they’re in the perfect spot throw some water on that roof maybe they got to get permission either that or they just like to look at a fire.
Video quality is great. The firemen, on the other hand, could use a little sense of urgency.
Like a red hot poker up their ......!
What are you even talking about?
A tactic I don't see utilized enough is using the aerial master stream through the window hydraulically knocking down the ceiling to get tons of water onto the fire in the attic space
Because it's idiotic
Not to mention that you never spray from the exterior when you have FFs on the interior
@@virgilhilts3924 It works, not idiotic, blitz attack from an elevated position. It was meant as an option prior to getting a line in service.
@@jeffpitoniak
Your assertions are idiotic
You would never use an aerial master stream with firefighters in the building
Idiotic stuff like that is how FF's get killed
they have 2 ladder trucks and 800 people just standing around and the fire still is going what the hell this fire department sucks no reason it took so long turn on the ladder truck
Time to setup Deluge guns. Over 80 percent of roof. Nothing stopping that structure from collapsing. Need to more firefighters back.
The Wood.......
When they were pissing through the roof, that fire was just laughing at them. With a fire load like that, with those weak trusses, those guys should have been yanked out sooner. That could have gone bad quickly, especially with those panels on top. But they put up one hell of a fight. One more thing, screw the line, no way should they have gone back in for it. Shut it down, and pick up whats left of it later.
Absolutely ludicrous they couldn't establish water to the second truck BEFORE master stream ops. It wasn't a surprise that was going to happen!
This is badG!
This is ridiculous
If the fireman walked any slower they would be standing still come on get your shit together boys your a disgrace to my professional job
There is no need to run around like an idiot
The aerial was up and ready. Why wasn't the roof vented to give the interior crew a chance?
Because it had already vented... derp
