    Love the breakers. Your area, northern Michigan, and Cape Code (where I started on the job) are the only places in the US who have them and know how to use them. We used to keep 300' coils of 1" cotton jacket charged in 4 x 4' boxes on top of the tank. It was soooo much lighter and easier to drag around - came off easily because it was charged already and was relatively easy to put back up with just 2 guys. The drop-down steps on the back - those are brilliant!

      The first two brush trucks there are NJ State Forest Fire Service units that are out and about. The other two are the first due department. Their big deuce-and-a-half lookin' thing is pretty awesome.
      A lot of those companies had surplus military 6x6s in the 70s and 80s.....virtually all "built" in-house. Pt. Boro had one that would go out-of-town mutual aid to fires in the pine barrens with 8 or 9 guys on board. @@ffjsb yeah, like I said, different times. I wouldn't say ours was overloaded, though. It was a surplus 6x6 flat body they mounted a 500 gallon water tank and skid pump on, with a 4" tubular steel roll cage the guys in the back could stay inside while operating. It did knock down some pine trees. It had a flip-down steel screen to protect the windshield while bombing through the woods.

    I put out something of the sort with a 2.5 gal water can just a couple weeks ago, though for me there was no wind and it contained itself largely on the center median. On April 7th at approximately 4:15 PM, the Brick Police department received a call for a brush fire in the vicinity of 500 Burnt Tavern Rd, with a cross of Route 70. The officers quickly arrived on the scene and found a working fire on the side of the road that was spreading back into the tree line. The fire was burning slowly, and homes were located around 50-100ft away from the area of the fire.
    In response to the call, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service (NJFFS) was dispatched, and B-34 was already in the area, arrived shortly after the initial response. The responders quickly took action and had water on the fire, which was estimated to be about 20X10 FT in size.
    The second responding unit, 2479, arrived on the scene as the situation was being brought under control. They stretched their booster line and began attacking the fire as well. Due to the swift response and efforts of the responders, the fire was quickly contained and extinguished.
    Crews remained on the scene to mop up the area for approximately 30 more minutes to ensure there were no remaining embers or hot spots that could reignite the fire. After the final check, the responders cleared the scene.
    At this time, the cause of the fire is unknown, and no further information is available. Brush fires are a common occurrence during the spring season, and it is crucial to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to prevent them from happening. The responders' quick response, coordinated efforts, and expertise helped control the situation and avoid any further damage or injuries.
    It is essential to note that brush fires can pose a significant threat to the environment and wildlife, as well as human lives and properties. It is essential to follow safety guidelines and regulations when dealing with fire or using fire outdoors, especially during dry weather conditions.
    To prevent brush fires, one should avoid burning outdoors, especially during dry or windy weather conditions. It is also crucial to follow all local regulations and guidelines regarding outdoor burning, including obtaining proper permits and clearance from the authorities.
    Additionally, one should ensure that any flammable materials such as leaves, debris, or firewood are stored away from structures and not near flammable materials like gas tanks or propane tanks. It is also essential to maintain a clear area around homes and structures to prevent brush fires from spreading.
    In the event of a brush fire, it is crucial to call the authorities immediately and evacuate the area if instructed to do so. It is also essential to follow all instructions from the authorities and avoid attempting to fight the fire alone.
    In conclusion, brush fires can be dangerous and destructive if not managed promptly and efficiently. It is vital to take all necessary precautions to prevent brush fires from happening and to respond quickly and effectively in case of an emergency. The efforts of the responders in the Burnt Tavern Rd incident serve as a reminder of the importance of fire safety and the vital role that first responders play in protecting our communities.

    Why smoking should be banned nationwide. DID you know? Aerial fireworks were banned in most states for two reasons. 2nd reason is the chemicals were deemed unhealthy for the environment (which is strange being those chemicals are allowed in most food and tobacco products). The #1 reason is starting fires. But here is a fact-Lit tobacco products are responsible for fires that burn over 6 million acres annually, whereas fire works are responsible for less than half that. Any way that road is not really traveled on a lot so most likely some one being stupid,

    • @mikehoysler4322
      @mikehoysler4322 Рік тому

      While I’m not a smoker, in 2021 tobacco was responsible for $12.14B in tax revenue so if that cash evaporates unfortunately it’s gotta be made up somewhere else. I agree smoking is unhealthy and a leading cause of cancer but I also know we have free will & the Gov’t already has their fingers in too much of our lives. According to the American Pyrotechnic Assoc only ONE State has banned all consumer fireworks: Massachusetts (interesting as it was the birthplace of the American revolution). Three States only allow sparklers: Illinois, Ohio, & Vermont. The other 46 States & DC don’t ban aerial fireworks at all. I don’t know that a lit cig caused this & neither do you, unless it was yours. If you want to direct your concern, how about the guy in the brush truck who came ballin in and then layed out into a smoky environment with zero PPE & no SCBA? Bet he wears a mask tho to go grocery shopping.
