What a pleasure to walk through your garden with you, Sue. The double white hellebores are just lovely - your new garden is looking spring perfect! My hellebores are just starting to show their buds here and the snow drops just starting to open but it's too early to dig yet. Storm damage can be unsettling - that was a big tree! - but then it opens up opportunities too - I look forward to seeing what you do with the fallen wood. Enjoy spring in your garden ❤
Thank you so much! I’ve earmarked quite a few sections of the old tree for the stumpery, I’ve just got to wait for hubby to bring out the big chainsaw as my small chainsaw isn’t up to the job. I don’t mind using my pole chainsaw but I don’t have the confidence to use anything bigger. Hopefully you won’t have to wait too much longer for gardening weather, it must be tough having such cold winters but at least you are seeing the first signs of spring. Thanks again 🙏
While Early Spring sounds lovely, right now is more like Late Winter 🌿 Spring starts with the solstice in March 😊 It's dangerous for some people to think that's spring already, specially here in the northern USA I'm glad that where you're at , you're having nice weather 😊💚🌿
Gosh Sue, you were battered by the storms. We were lucky here and although it was windy, it was nothing like we were expecting. Those Hellebores look beautiful.
The larger of the trees was very old and we’ve been talking about having it removed for a while but never got round to it, guess nature did something about it for us. The hellebores are flowering better than ever this year, I think it’s all the rain we’ve had for the last 6 months, at least we are having a mild winter so far. Thanks for watching 😊
Greetings from Prince Edward Island! Thank you for the video. I love your gardens and big old trees. Your hellebores are beautiful. I planted one last fall and can't wait to see it bloom... perhaps in May or so. (It's currently frozen solid under the snow)
Hello and welcome to my garden in Northumberland. Wow you are the first from Prince Edward Island, famous for the setting of Anne of Green Gables from my childhood. Hopefully the winter is not too harsh this year, but I suspect it is. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment 🙏
Still very much covered in snow here too, and winter is forecasted to return with all its might later this month and into March. Oh the joys of gardening in Quebec 🇨🇦
Lookout for the Gold collection hellebores they are worth paying the extra for as they produce so many blooms and last for months. Thanks for watching 😊
Thank you, it looks very bare and open to me. I’m looking forward to adding more evergreens over the next few years. Thanks for watching and commenting, very much appreciated 🙏
The double white hellebores are so beautiful! Quarry, the hellebores cab be divided in spring and fall. I planted 2 plants 10 year ago, now have 27 in the garden.
That’s brilliant, I must get around to dividing mine too this spring. The flowers are exceptional this year, probably the best I’ve ever had, one of the few plus’s from having an incredibly rainy 6 months 😊
I just love your videos, you give me so much inspiration. We are still in winter, everything is still under snow. I love to see your property, it’s beautiful in winter.
Thank you so much, that’s very kind of you. Hopefully seeing the spring bulbs in the video will keep you going until your snow disappears and spring finally arrives for you. Thanks again for watching 😊
I'm sorry about the trees that fell. But maybe some parts of them can be used in your stumpery garden? I just love those beautiful white hellebores and the snowdrops together. So pretty. What are those super cute and super tiny yellow flowers I saw? Thank you for another lovely video. 🙂
My exact thoughts when I saw the felled tree, great I’ve got some gnarly old wood for the stumpery 😊. The yellow flowers are Eranthis hyemalis, bit of a mouthful, more commonly known as winter aconites. Thank you for watching 🙏
My spring border will be nearly over with by March, you’ve got the excitement of seeing all your spring bulbs ahead of you 😊. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, very much appreciated 🙏
The new opening in the hedge might be the opening to another walkway or another garden? I suggest this in case you run out of ideas or work😉 Do you leave the leaves and debris around your Hellebores, or do you clean them up? I think it was John Lord who said that they get leaf damage from debris left around them. You and he have inspired me to try growing them. I have to find the perfect spot, as I’m getting too old to be moving things around all the time, 😆 and most say to plant them and leave them alone. I suspect you and I are kindred spirits, in that we both move whatever we pretty well want to even in flower! I’m sorry that you have lost these trees, but it just might allow for even more opportunities in your new shade garden. Have a wonderful week in your garden!
Hello, the hedge opening will probably be closed back up as there’s quite a drop down to the lower areas of the quarry but then I could leave it open and add steps down interesting 🤔. The leaf litter I do leave around the hellebores mainly because it’s too big a job to clean all the borders up but I do try and clean up the hellebores themselves by removing any diseased looking leaves. The bigger the garden I create the more I have to accept it won’t be as tidy or as well kept as I’d like unfortunately. Yes I totally agree with you I move any plant at any time even when in flower, a little voice in my head says, do it, just do it and I do. Thankfully not too many disasters but there’s been some though nothing major 🙁. Thanks for watching 🙏

Canada, the great white north!@@lindahopps739 🥶
Love following your progress. I’m in Canada in zone 3B and will scout locations for some of those lovely hellebores you mentioned. Inspired.
Lookout for the Gold collection hellebores they are worth paying the extra for as they produce so many blooms and last for months. Thanks for watching 😊
Looks like that tree that came down created an instant entrance to your future shade garden! Beautiful video as usual! ❤👏👏👏
Yes! I think you might be right. Thank you for watching 😊
Wow love the look of your gardens at this time of year. So much interest. Too bad about the sycamore.
Thank you, it looks very bare and open to me. I’m looking forward to adding more evergreens over the next few years. Thanks for watching and commenting, very much appreciated 🙏
I love your hellebores!
Hello and thank you, hellebores definitely like my very wet UK climate. They just do their own thing without any interference from me 😊

Winter aconites, thank you!@@thequarrygardener5578
Love seeing your gardens sorry about the tree tho. Too early for my snowdrops and other spring bulbs. Not till March at least zone 5 Indiana.
