I'm totally down to get some German history. Its one of the less flashy regions of Europe so less widely known, giving us much fewer assumptions and misinformation sources to get in the way of the story
To match the story of Order/Templars using their influence to find sites of power, Isu artifacts, and manipulate governments we have to be mindful of when and where the story takes us. The historical events need to make sense to have the warring factions' influences in a time period we see. Europe was quickly infected with their influence through the Roman empires, but some other areas of the world would have been slow to be influenced. The farther from the cradle of civilization the story goes, the longer it may have taken for the OotA and Templars to gain their footholds to influence a story.
I can't believe you guys cracked this already! So incredible, im so excited, imo there were some amazing reveals today. Im super excited to get my hands on them.
Probably been given “early” access to the information. Video posted right after their announcement ain’t nobody that quick to put a video like this together. Nonetheless great work as well. Huge fan!
This could probably mean that the main character could be a son/daughter to a mother and/or father who've done "witchcraft" and the accusers and the ones behind the executions are the templars and that could mean that since the book the German guy from wurzburg uses is a piece of eden, the protagonist might use it against the templars along with the traditional assassin ways. I feel like for this perspective of the history for the plot mephisto might be one of The Ones Who Came Before but probably someone corrupt in that time and punished by the other Ones Who Came Before. This is all just me theorizing on the spot soooo if I said something completely false then pls correct me
No no, you have a point. This is exactly what i think story wise could look like But also that this assassin's will not use traditional assassinations but more brutal or unorthodox/wild If you know what i mean

With the first leaks of an HRE and witch hunts setting my immediate first thought was it will play out in northern Bavaria/Franconia, because of the proximity of Würzburg, Bamberg and Fulda (which techniallytoday is in Hessen but pretty close by Würzburg). Also Rache is just the noun "Revenge" in german. And the first association when actually hearing the words Mephisto, Rache and Haus for anybody who went to higher school grades in Germany will likely be Faust by Goethe, basically THE nationally most treasured piece of literature, which actually features a scene of mephisto and faust inside the house of a witch. Given how much influence Unity had by french romanticism and Odyssey by Plato, it wouldn´t suprise me if we would see lots of themes of Faust 1 and 2 being implemented with regards to story beats and the world. And it is pretty close (geographically) to my absolute dreamscenario, an alpine based AC with Munich, Vienna and Salzburg as Cities, although this may play out between 2 or 300 years earlier, depending when it will be set specifically. It definetely has my attention. And i hope they somehow incorporate maybe existing lore on witch hunts/trials in this game, which may be the case given how the Paracelsus bits are obviously implemented.
Nope, you guys are on the goddamn money with this one. The evidence you showed confirms the setting of Hexe, it adds up perfectly. I'm so beyond excited for this one, far more than Feudal Japan.
Let see if AC can go back to its roots. Best AC games use overlooked time periods and make magic out of them. Assassins were an afterthought in Odyssey and Valhalla because of Spartans and Vikings
@@LeadLeftLeon If theres some sort of hallucanation type things In Codename Hexe, sort of like the Trials of the Morrigan in Wraith of the druids. Then I'll be okay. None of that full blown crazy crap. Even better if its an ISU artifact making people go crazy, and or the Hidden Ones or Order of ancients using them.
@@lumineniananubis4161 I wish AC would ditch the fantasy elements almost completely. The Isu stuff is interesting in small doses but when it comes to Odyssey and the Atlantis DLC and in Valhalla with the Nordic pantheon thing, it’s just too much
@@Hoppelite Thats what I'm saying. Too much of that mythological crap ruins a game. But i'm actually okay with The Atlantis part. It was an Isu city which made sense. As well as the Yggdrasil device, bit the other stuff. Just a bit to much mythology.
Thats not a "pentacle" in the sense of a 5 point star, its clearly actually an 8 point star. However in the occult tradition of the Key of Solomon, there are planetary seals called "pentacles". This symbol looks similar to the 7th Pentacle of Mars from the Key of Solomon, but the letters and words inscribed within it have been changed for the game teaser of course. From the Book, the Key of Solomon: "Figure 31. The Seventh and last Pentacle of Mars - Write thou this upon virgin parchment or paper with the blood of a bat, in the day and hour of Mars; and uncover it within the Circle, invoking the Demons whose Names are therein written; and thou shalt immediately see hail and tempest." So yea, thats a magickal symbol used to cause violent storms, it fits with the vibe of the game teaser.
While it was already in the leaks it would take place during the Witch Hunt of the Holy Roman Empire, I’m glad you did this. The slogan “We hide in the shadows to serve the light” really was all I needed to know as it indicates we’ll actually play as an assassin. Thank god
Same! I live in NRW, so the game could take place right before my doorstep. Im really hyped, to see what western Germany looked like in the medieval ages. I also love history
Hello! History Prof here! While there’s evidence this takes place in Swabia, it is more likely that it would take place in Koln, which was the religious center for Catholics in the area, has a *massive* cathedral they could use as a set-piece, and - per Valhalla anyway, has pre established bureau of the Hidden Ones there.
I know as a history buff the ac series is a wet dream for me but for a teacher who probably catches alot more of the intricacies and details in the games and the periods they're set in it must be a dream to immerse in these worlds
Seeing the AC logo, it looks like a summoning... What if they are actually "summoning" the order to kill someone, or, how you translated, to avenge... and mephisto would be a new ISU?
This is the most exciting game I’ve seen in today’s showcase. I’m a huge fan of everything related to occultism and witchcraft and I cannot wait to see how those things will be implemented in the AC universe.
I more excited for Mirage as its a return to form, but Hexe has really piqued my interest. I imagine that these "witches" that are being hunted are actually people with high concentration of isu dna.
@@ryantaylor3917 I have another theory that the main protagonist of Hexe will be a witch-assassin. That would be such an interesting and unique choice.
My guess for Codename Hexe's plot: - Female Assassin - Templars try to cover their assassin hunt as witch hunts by convincing the people assassins are witches.
Maybe connected to the whole Eve thing? Maybe we will play as a female assassin that has Eve Isu DNA and the Templars hide their hunt for her as Witch hunts. Maybe she is able to perform "magic" due to Isu DNA or something
@@ArmLegLegArmHead47 who knows... It's nice to speculate and guess specially since it's Darby McDevitt writing the story but at the end of the day Ubi is the boss and if Ubi says they want fantasy witches we'll get that -.- though I fully trust Darby
So long as they don't throw too much supernatural stuff into it. This is a game that would be BRILLIANT with a female Assassin, instead of forcing it like they did with Valhalla.
The symbol is not a pentagram. It's an octogram, the stick Assassin's symbol is covering the top point and part of the left and right bottom points [you can see the lines going to the right and left points] Octograms are used to symbolize many things throughout history, different gods/goddesses, the Wiccan Wheel of the Year showing different Sabbats or holidays, octograms were used in protection spells/rituals, there are alchemical connections, and various others. But the symbol is neither a pentagram nor a pentacle.
Another interesting note - the Hidden Ones' Bureaus in Valhalla's France DLC makes note of retreating further to the Cologne Bureau during the 5th century exodus from England. There may be some further reference to that in Hexe, perhaps a larger bureau that holds the history of the Hidden Ones, much like the Sanctuary from AC Brotherhood.
Knowing the franchise, it seems likely that Ubisoft will pose the witch trials as a smokescreen for the Templar order's activities. It may even be that the "witches" being executed were assassins, hence the "avenge our house" prayer in the logo. This seems like a promising installment, as do all the new announcements. This is still my favorite franchise of all time, despite the many complaints I've heard from others.
@@finitatem There were actually also trials against men, mostly accusations of werewolf (and also werecat) activities and such. But it was seen as connected with witchcraft. The number of trials against men was generally higher in Catholic areas, while Protestant areas killed more women.
Excellent stuff. The series has covered a chunk of Europe/Middle East, but middle and eastern European regions have been missing (except with Chronicles Russia), so tying into existing lore in a time and place that hasn't been covered makes sense. Also, it reminds me that a lot of German fantasy/folklore was what inspired a lot of original D&D and early CRPGs, which of course leads us to games now.
Superb work here ATA team. I messed around with it after stream and got to the Magi letters, and the outer ring. GGs on the inner ring though. The pattern eluded me and I ended up calling it a night.
Maybe Mephisto is an Isu entity possessing people similar to what would be the case in Origins, and the people interpret it as demonic possession or witchcraft. Maybe the Templars try to use this entity while the Assassins try to stop it since it's very existence gives some validity to the growing concern of the witch trials.
Definitely agree that this is a much more enjoyable and rewarding way to find out more about future entries as opposed to random leaks. The cryptic elements in the Assassin's Creed series have always been some of my favorite aspects of the games.
Well here we go, once again subbing to this channel has been an important for understanding wtf Ubisoft is up to, thank you deciphering the language and spelling mistakes they had I wouldn't know this without you and your efforts here. Thank you
Just as an aside, the diagram inside the talisman for lack of a better term, is not a pentacle - the top point and arms of the Assassin symbol are clearly hiding three more points and at least a few more symbols. Great work so far, but I think the hidden info might be something they'll surprise us with as we get closer. Specificity is important in magic and changing a word by even one letter can shift a lot.
really a top video and not only that, a lot about AC is really good. When I saw the teaser yesterday, my first thought was yes we are finally getting an AC in Germany. I am from Germany and think it's really good. Japan is also good, but finally something from Germany. Keep it upGreetings from northern Germany.Thorin
The prospect of this setting really excites me. My family was very alive & active in the region of Germany around the 16th-18th centuries. They got fairly close with Unity being set in Paris & the Siege of Paris DLC for Valhalla, but the modern area of Rhineland-Palatinate in west-southwest Germany is the actual area my family spent many generations.
I all ways wanted for a Assassin's Creed game set in Germany primarily Prussia because there are many German theme weapons appears in the other AC title s like such as the Prussian Longsword in AC Revelations, the German Rapiers in AC Black Flag DLC, The Prussia Hunting Sabre and German wheelock DLC weapon in AC Rouge.
Awesome analysis! Another thing to point out is that, during the livestream, the guy said that this would be a completely different kind of game. Survival horror perhaps?
As a german who would’ve never thought of getting an ac game in germany I’m hyped…but as someone from northern germany (Hamburg) I’m kinda depressed that my city probably probably won’t be on the map and I guess they won’t revisit germany either so there goes my hope of getting an Ac in my city
I hope Klein Hanszlien will make a appearance or be mentioned in AC Hexe. For those who don't know, Klein Hanszlien was a German pirate who was active around the Baltic Sea in the 1560's until his and his crews death exaction in 1573 during the Holy Roman Empire in Germany which is AC Hexe's setting.
Though we can't see it properly because two points are covered by the Assassin crest, the geometric shape is certainly not a pentagram, but rather an octagram. Though pentagrams are often associated with witches, the fact that this is an octagram could hint at another symbolic meaning they were trying to convey in the trailer.
A thorough analysis. I only manaed to find that it was connected to germany somehow before I found this video. Looked up Hexe and it gave me results for a german automobile of some sort.
I'm happy that we're finally getting a setting in Ac as well and i think that the phrase Mephisto, revenge our family, is more of a request to him and that Mephisto might be an assassin that we play
Good Work! I am from Germany and was wondering why it is called "Hexe", because it is unusual for me that game names sounds like german, but i doesn't recognized that it's meant to be German :)
Yves Guillemont of ubisoft: *takes a breath* access the animus: ok guys this is clearly a hint to the fact that the next game will take place in southwestern germany in 1631 and it will be about witches.
Not only Southwestern Germany (Rheinland-Pfalz/Saarland/Baden-Württemberg) if we go by his map and the places he mentioned regarding the Hexenverfolgungen. Also the West (North Rhine-Westphalia) and Northern South (Franken) and Central (Thüringen/Hessen).
Maybe Ubisoft will neglect some areas is it would take ages to cover everything. So I don't make myself too much hopes. Würzburg and Bamberg will prolly be there. So our state capital Mainz will perhaps be in the game as it is closer to these cities.
Interesting! Was wondering what Hexe was al about. I thought something dark or occult with demons, necromancy etcetera but I was like this ain't really a setting for an AC series. After this breakdown/analysis, it makes more sense. Still wouldn't expect a AC being in Germany, rather close to me even as a Dutchmen. Nevertheless still curious about it and can't wait to find out more. But it's years away, so we might not now new info for a long time, so we can enjoy the AC we already have first followed by the oncoming one, and the the Japan one. Even a Chinese one if you're into mobile gaming. Still think the China one would be great on other platforms as well.
While decoding this is pretty cool as soon as I heard of the code name being hexe I immediately thought of the Salem witch trials. So even if I got the setting wrong, which I likely have as I’d assume it would be based in Europe somewhere as they’ve already done the states with AC3 it’s definitely based around the years of the witch trials that happened around Europe/North America.
Assassins Creed Hexe. I am highly intrigued about Hexe. An AC set in 1600’s AD Germany would be thrilling. Usually I am a staunch defender of how historical Christian factions are portrayed in modern media, especially the likes of the Crusades and Medieval Europe. AC1 did a superb job at depicting all the factions in the game as correct from a certain viewpoint, as is the case in reality, hence why AC1 is to this day my favorite AC ever. The Witch trials in 1600s AD Germany on the other hand, is similar to the Spanish inquisition , (you did not expect me to talk about THAT now did you?) a highly interesting time where, regardless of my Christian beliefs, I am inclined to view the actions of those clerical leaders as wrong. As ever, not knowing the exact circumstances of the individual trials, one may find a few cases where the accused were actually evil and the punishments were justified, (Just look at the evil woke femiazi cult of today for example) but for the most part , the actions perpetrated by some people in power during the trials were detestable. Thus, even for me whom always prefers to play as a male character since that is my God given gender, I would actually enjoy an AC where a female protagonist is forced to navigate the complexities of such a dark time. To have the option to play as male or female would still be best though but then if playing as a male, you follow a main female protagonist and help her to survive, overcome and bring an end to the witch hunts. It will be quite engaging to see how that world is brought to life, how the differing factions squabble and counter one another and, in the center of it all, trying to unravel the convoluted web of intricacies , slowly outwitting evil, identifying it and eliminating it , one villainous person after the other. As long as there is no magical BS in the game, I think it can be a horror filled masterpeace. This setting is one more place where subtle supernatural occurrences will be most fitting ,one highly intriguing concept the devs can include that will provide a superb layer of nuance would be if the entire game we fight against the catholic persecutors , helping numerous wrongly accused victims to escape but then one…just one of the persecuted turns out to be an actual witch and as she is burnt … the demon Mephisto manifests through her and attempts to place a curse on everyone, right before the creature is rebuked and the demon cast out in the Name of Jesus by a priest allied to the creed.
the first part was instantly decoded for me while watching live as they did the same in Valhalla the second part though ................. Salutations for this great job
im very suprised by this concept of a AC game. But in the same time to blend it in the 30 years war would be intresting. it was a time of pure chaos tho. i will be glad if we get to see something from the Lion of the North. But when u mentioned cologne, they mention that city alot in the games, just recently i found it mentioned in a letter in valhalla from a beuraue crypt or whatever that makes it feel possible they have a AC quarters there.
I feel like this story will be about “compromising the brotherhood”. Cause perhaps a Templar will accuse an Assassin of witchcraft and would expose the organization to normal citizens. That would make the most sense to me. (Edit) I Hope they include Bamburg in the game, cause that’s my German ancestors hometown 👍
Having studied history of Europe, from the 15th to the 17th century, several "witch hunt" movements hapenned mainly in what's Germany today and then spread over the years to other Kingdoms like actual France. I'm confident this is the time period we will get, which could be interesting since it's a period were orders like the templars were very present and active. It's also a period of conquest over the eastern lands of actual Germany and therefore since landlords conquered and then acquired the lands, and the fact that the king of the Kingdom of Germany was also the King of actual Italy and wasn't very present in Germany at times, during those times the landlords often tried to organise rebellions against him and I could see this game have a very interesting plot.
I'm really impressed how people can figure all this stuff out. Major props, that's dedication. That being said, I'm seeing a LOT of hype for Hexe, which is odd to me. I thought the hype train would have been for Red. Personally, this Hexe setting and theme isn't really my thing, and all these symbolisms and witch craft stuff is... Disturbing. Might have to sit this one out but we'll see as we learn more in the future.
I feel we are missing 3 important letters since the ac logo covers the rest of the symbol. If only we could peel the veil to see those last three triangles. Love the theory busting so far
The 'stick logo' makes the lines for the triangles! That makes it an 8-pointed star, or 'Octogram', not a pentagram. I was trying to figure out what an 8, or octogram might mean in this... ...nope, got nothin'. Maybe if he's got a partial word, he/we could find the right letters to go in the 3 open spots. But, I don't even know if that helps anything. Anyway, good catch on the extra triangles, not many noticed it. 🤘😁
Before your analysis, I was thinking it might have been something about the witches of Pendle, which would fit in with that time period, so we might see them make an appearance. Or if we go later maybe there's something going on with the witch trials in Salem
The only thing about the Salem witch trials, is that it would feel like a DLC game because they only took place over the course of a year and thats not much time to stretch for a full AC game
Since you had only few hours to do something like this it'sremarkablewhat you did.. I believe we'll get few infos quite soon but we'll have to wait at least two or three years for the game to be released. Interesting theme and I'm really eager to know what we'll get. Multyplayer based game (I wouldn't like that) or assassin's creed with a great story and great setting. It will be interesting to see where you right (I believe you are)
It would be cool to use the guise of a witch to get away with some unique abilities or a way to get involved with more niche storytelling from a woman's perspective as both an assassin and a woman in this time period.
many many many witches were burned in Edinburgh too during that time. Haus could also mean Jan Hus, with a slightly altered name (as they did with Black Beards real name)

@@jmgonzales7701 they need to get out of Europe all together imo, lets see some continental diversity, at least Japan is confirmed now
To match the story of Order/Templars using their influence to find sites of power, Isu artifacts, and manipulate governments we have to be mindful of when and where the story takes us.
Huge fan!

Really nice to finally have an AC set in Germany. A pretty underrated region in gaming...
You could say that about almost all countries except USA, UK, Italy and Japan - like Poland for example
@@krzypl5959 how many games take place in Poland?
@@geth7112 I don't know, like two? That's why I brought it up as an example
@@geth7112 Many locations in the Witcher univerese are loosely based on Poland.
This is all just me theorizing on the spot soooo if I said something completely false then pls correct me
That is a very good mindset you have but we won’t see this game for a couple years
No no, you have a point.
This is exactly what i think story wise could look like
But also that this assassin's will not use traditional assassinations but more brutal or unorthodox/wild
If you know what i mean

Exactly
A Bavaria-Austria AC would be amazing! :D
Also amazing landscapes of dense and hilly sinister forests contrasted to beautiful medieval towns and villages.
Well to be fair the teasers for this game basically had in the description that this was set during the Holy Roman Empire and its witch trials
From the Book, the Key of Solomon:
"Figure 31. The Seventh and last Pentacle of Mars - Write thou this upon virgin parchment or paper with the blood of a bat, in the day and hour of Mars; and uncover it within the Circle, invoking the Demons whose Names are therein written; and thou shalt immediately see hail and tempest."
So yea, thats a magickal symbol used to cause violent storms, it fits with the vibe of the game teaser.
Keep doing the Godesess work
I came here to say this. Thank you for beating me to it.
Omg thank you it was really bugging me. 😭
While it was already in the leaks it would take place during the Witch Hunt of the Holy Roman Empire, I’m glad you did this. The slogan “We hide in the shadows to serve the light” really was all I needed to know as it indicates we’ll actually play as an assassin. Thank god
As a German, who absolutely loves history, I couldn’t be more hyped for a game! I’m excited to play this!

You guys are real geniuses. Please analyze the symbology of other games, even old games. All his historical and investigative knowledge is admirable.
Dude, how is your team so fast, script writing, editing and publishing in a few hours. Just wow.
Because they ARE witches
leaks from ubisoft themselves , that brings hypes, could be a possibility.
Have you seen code red? That looks like the most exciting game today!
Japan has been explored ad nauseum, many games are set in japan, this one seems more exciting
@@salvadormuniz2277 I’ve never been interested in Japan, medieval witchy Germany is a lot more interesting to me :)
My guess for Codename Hexe's plot:
- Female Assassin
- Templars try to cover their assassin hunt as witch hunts by convincing the people assassins are witches.
It's nice to speculate and guess specially since it's Darby McDevitt writing the story but at the end of the day Ubi is the boss and if Ubi says they want fantasy witches we'll get that -.- though I fully trust Darby

it's gonna be woke
So long as they don't throw too much supernatural stuff into it. This is a game that would be BRILLIANT with a female Assassin, instead of forcing it like they did with Valhalla.
Well the question is what time period In Europe will they be doing this? The witch hunts lasted for 300+ years
That was fast. It was revealed an hour and a half ago. Good work.
In fairness, there were leaks ahead, so they had a bit of a head start.
Thank you. "We're going to ignore points so we can call it a pentagram" was driving me nuts. :-)
It is also looks like the symbol for the Order of Nine Angles, a well known occultist group.
Dang it hasn't taken you guys a day to crack it! You guys are too GOOD. Keep up the great work!
@@finitatem no. not really it would just mean they are going for the women in the brotherhood
You guys killed it. I'm pretty sure it's based on 16th-17th century Germany. Your analysis was nearly perfect! Keep going.
Soo happy to see ac getting back to its roots
Yeah the 8 point star represents the Wicca Wheel of the Year with the 8 major Wiccan holidays
really a top video and not only that, a lot about AC is really good.
This sounds like an amazing setting (and quite original) for a AC game. So I'm all for it.
Love this!! Should be such a great game! Really hope the Black Forest will be spooky and so fun to explore!
A thorough analysis. I only manaed to find that it was connected to germany somehow before I found this video. Looked up Hexe and it gave me results for a german automobile of some sort.
lol, nice one
I was waiting for you to crack it. You are quick.
I'm happy that we're finally getting a setting in Ac as well and i think that the phrase Mephisto, revenge our family, is more of a request to him and that Mephisto might be an assassin that we play
Yall keep pumping out amazing videos!!!!!!! It's always so much fun following you to dive deep into these puzzles!
Good Work!
I am from Germany and was wondering why it is called "Hexe", because it is unusual for me that game names sounds like german, but i doesn't recognized that it's meant to be German :)
Wow the developers really look into every detail, great job decoding this and thanks for sharing this!! 👏🏻
Of course I wish to see Trier and Mainz as they're in my state.
The Black Forest (Schwarzwald) should definitely be in the game.
Maybe Ubisoft will neglect some areas is it would take ages to cover everything. So I don't make myself too much hopes. Würzburg and Bamberg will prolly be there. So our state capital Mainz will perhaps be in the game as it is closer to these cities.
@@stevensiegert I think Cologne is basically guaranteed as well, given the fact that the Hidden Ones Bureau in Cologne is mentioned in Valhalla.
Well done my dude... I'm proud that ur really on the time fast for everything
I can already tell this will be the darkest and the most scariest AC game ever made. Peaks my interest so much
Congratulations on the colaboration of the 15th anniversary!!! You deserve it guys!!!!!!!
Actually, that is not a pentacle, but an octagram: two edges are covered by the asassin's symbol.
The Hexe Logo looks so good.
The level of research and investigation blow my mind.
What an interesting video, just from that one teaser. Impressive how accurate and fast you are. Haven't been that excited for an AC since Unity.
The first time since Syndicate we are actually in a time period with the assasins, not hidden ones.
Great job! Cannot wait to get in to the infinity hub and start playing these games!
Wow!! If that’s not the right setting, after THAT explanation, I’ll be shocked. Great work, guys.
the first part was instantly decoded for me while watching live as they did the same in Valhalla the second part though .................
Salutations for this great job

It's an octogram. It's also very important in Magick, but it's not a pentacle.
This is why your group is my go to for AC info. Keep up the good work! 👍
im very suprised by this concept of a AC game.
Setting is going to be the 30 year war for sure, like Odessey and the Poloponnesian war. Great analysis.
This is so awesome, you guys are very skilled and talented with your analysis!
Great video, especially doing the research and putting the video out so quick.
Thank you for your diligence. This was way better than reading leaks.
It looks unlike anything we've seen before. This is the one that made me more anxious to know more.
Assassins creed with witches feels like a dream come true I CANT FREAKIN WAIT
That makes it an 8-pointed star,
or 'Octogram',
not a pentagram.
@@lilmike1795 Oh yeah, if Salem or Pendle show up it’s probably not in the main storyline
The star in the centre is actually an eight pointed star, it’s just that three points are covered by the assassin’s symbol

The Witch Trials of Trier was the biggest one.
