Using wirelessly with a mic that permanently attached is weird, some people prefer privacy and a mic in peripheral vision while moving around is a minus.
Hey Techne, looks like Razer released a firmware update on 9/27/23 to fix the bluetooth bug. Hope you can keep your commitment and share regarding the new update. Lezzgo! :)
I had the identical experience you did. I just purchased this model, and the hyperspeed module out of the box won't connect to the headset. You have to update the firmware for this to even work. That is absolutely insane that this product got released in this state. The good news at least is, as soon as you plug it in, it prompts you to install Razer Synapse. So hopefully it won't affect too many people.
I bought this headset yesterday on a whim. Didn’t even look up anything about it. And I didn’t even know there was an issue like this. I took it out the box, it automatically asked me to download software and I kept clicking yes until it was done. And then they worked.
The hyperspeed wireless device just stop working, the light doesnt turn on anymore, is there any reason for this? i've just bought this like a month ago
Hey. Which one do u reckon ? VIRTUOSO RGB WIRELESS XT VS blackshark v2 pro vs PRO X 2 LIGHTSPEED ? or other ? For very long gaming sessions (comfort is important) + watching series in sofa. TY
I had both models, and they sounded equally good to me, plus I like the better ear cushions on the younger model better, and I don't understand why they are not on all models in this series. Good idea to give bluetooth to the younger model!
Does this use thx spatial? Ive been using v2x and nari essential this year, thx is game changer, v2x playing clear and dętail but Bass heavy punchy sound and much louder is something im loooking for to have fun with games and media.
I just got mine a few days ago and I’ve been mostly happy with it. It’s definitely not perfect, though. I would have loved it if you could share a dongle like some of the other Razer mice/keyboards. I love the little volume knob on the side. I wish more headsets did that, instead of a dial or buttons. I am only using mine in 2.4 mode, and thought the mic was great so far, but that’s a bummer on Bluetooth. Night and day difference. Mine did the same thing yours did, at first, regarding starting in Bluetooth. It defaulted to it out of the box but after figuring it out, I switched it to 2.4 and it hasn’t done it since. I did update the firmware as well after that, so maybe that did something as well… not sure.
techne, i just need to let you know that the switches on the Razer Deathstalker ARE HOTSWAP!!! you can change them for the keychron switches. Would be nice to see a video on you modding your favourite keyboard
I really think this headset is a solid choice for its pricepoint (especially if and when it goes onsale), but for me the non-removable microphone is a potential deal-breaker. It's just inexcusable in 2023, especially at this price point. I wanna be able to just wear them as normal headphones sometimes (especially if I ever wear these in public) and a non-removable mic can develop faults over time and obviously cannot just be replaced. Really strange for Razer to make the microphone on this specific model non-removable when they have several cheaper headset options with removable mics. Still considering it as an option though as both my Kraken V3 cable and mic arm are damaged and on their last legs
Its such a good headset and 70€ cheaper as the v2 2023, just the mic... I dont want to pay 70€ just for the mic to be removeable, it just makes no sense, why did they do this... I guess its so much cheaper cause no one buys it
I have an older ver. of the BlackSharks. The sound is Great and they are comfortable. Let us know when they fix it. Thanks for the review. You Rock. :)
Hope you make a vid when razer fix the problem on this headset. I agree with you, for me it is frustrating and a game breaker. This headset have a potential :)
The biggest thing razer has done wrong is not having the black shark work wirelessly with Xbox. The kaira don’t even compare to black shark. Everyone knows blackshark is king
I use the dongle or the USB connection (while charging), and it is really great, I tried the bluetooth connection too, but I think if you will use the bluetooth mode on other device which has got no Windows OS, it would be absolutely normal, or you can try to set up it in settings somehow - the problem is that in bluetooth mode while using microphone, the Windows OS does enable some "Hands-free" audio quality which sounds terrible like you were watching 240p video and I do not know why Windows does this, then I tried using bluetooth on android and it was normal no shit quality while using the mic, so I really do not know what is happening between Bluetooth, Windows and this headset
Guys I’m looking to replace my astros a40 wired any options? Looking to spend around 250 to 300 wired I hate charging all that I only play pubg so hearing foot steps is a must on xbox
Thats a lot of budget, you could probably get high quality proper headphones for that price, so non-gamer brands. Only reason to go gaming brands is probably for the wireless 2.4ghz dongle speed, since Bluetooth has latency issues.
@@EJSVARZ well if you have around 250-300 to spend and you want a wired one, id honestly recommend something like a DT770, or something along those lines, and a decent microphone! You could even get an AMP for that much money, but if you just want plug ‘N play then id recommend you just get a usb microphone, ive got one and theyre much better than any headset microphone so, way more than enough.
Ive seen another reviewer having the same issues. But it seems like something that could be fixed with firmware update, if the headset allows firmware updates via usb.
This is my personal experience I got these 2 days ago and no it was terrible for me. First day got it home and spent entire day trying to get workable EQ setting just didnt feel right for me. I had this wired to PC aswell and still same. Day 2 headset went of rails and started to go screaming loud/distorted sound all on its own. Sound was going up/down on own. I tried various YT Videos. I restarted Synase and still sound quaility went all over place and was horrible. My previous headset was Razer Kraken Tournament Edition and they was just absolute perfect sound quailty but earpads started leaking cooling gel after 4 years of use. But I digress. I will go tomorrow back to Razer Store and try to get full refund while its 3rd day of purchase or if they make a scene I will try and exchange it for Kraken V3 which closest I will get to my old headset. I'm very upset about situation. But that was my experience
The mic not being removable is a deal breaker. Idk what Razer is doing bro, like nobody wants a permanent mic attached right in their face that you can’t flip up. HORRIBLE design.
I feel like this is just the cheaper version of the BlackShark v2 pro (2023). Some things had to be changed in order to get out a budget version. At least with the v2 pro 2023, the mic is detachable

How come you never talk about the buzzing that the v2 pro does. Constantly buzzes and it’s not a manufacturing issue it just has a constant buzzing tone regardless of audio level up or down.
The Razer BS v2 Pro has 2 major issues for me. One being disconnecting issues when the dongle is literally 1m away from my headset with a clear path. You can sometimes make the discontent just by turning your head a little. You'll see a lot of people complain about this online. Two being when using the volume wheel on the side. When getting to the lowest and highest point they start to create static in the right ear. This isn't so bad as you can still use the wheel, but to a certain point and also just rather use windows volume. Just disappointing as the price for these new were quite high.

Honestly, they almost had me, until I saw the mic is not removable, then they lost me.
Yeah this. Non removable mics shouldn't even be a thing in 2023.
No excuse with a simple cord based mic.
It just limits the usage options.
What is limited with that?
I still have the V2X and yeah the non removable mic is painful

Is it also possible to use the Razer BlackShark V2 HyperSpeed with USB-C to 3.5mm Analog? For example, if you connect it to the PS5 controller?

So you can eq the sound via synapse and save those settings to the headset but does that also apply to the microphone?
