  • I liked this car the first time we shot it. A lot, but it's a whole different car now. It was running lean on the passenger bank of cylinders and after a few things it went from 225 hp on the dyno to 437 at the wheel and from 175 torque to 375. It's making almost double what it was the first time we shot it and felt it deserved a proper shoot.
So sit back and enjoy the ride...

These cars are my favorites that you do... the not super high end but (almost) Everyman builds, like this one and the old school big block Chevelle you did running 15” rallye wheels still. Absolutely the best versions of these cars. The problem? Not everyone has good taste, even pro builders. They do gimmicky or trendy touches to show off talent, not make a good or well engineered product. Not always but often. Almost always though the cars they build are trends, not timeless. So in a few years these builds are going to look as dated as a pro build from the 90’s does now but classic looks will always be classic, never outdated.

Do really like the fastbacks but partial to my 68 Cougar Dad bought new when I was 5, bought it from him in highschool 40yrs back, Restored it right some yrs ago and get over 400hp through a 302 I detuned for pump gas. Wrinkles the tires no problem and goes. Stacy David built a killer version with the coyote, whole lotta work! I get my coyote fix with my F150, runs like a bat outa hell!

42 years ago, I learned to drive and drift on the very same car, with original 289 hipo... I remember the cool nights in SoFla , windows open, embarrassing corvettes, and laying down 100 yards of smoke.... oh those were the days.... when I find one, make sure its really locked up, or the ghost of 1982 will be driving it on the Ft Lauderdale strip...... mmmmmm

Shawn - lol, I can’t be the only guy Sub’d to OldCarMemories?! Just minutes before your post, Kevin posted ‘Why the 67/68 turned Mustang into a legend’...
Lovely post and engine story. Really sweet homages to Bullitt film in your camera angles, even in the shop... You really made the most of the short-throw shifter!

I had the same problem with my 64.5 coyote swapped, luckily I had an nGauge attached. When I went through the various gauges, I spotted the AFR showing 26:1 instead of 14.6 on the right bank. I slapped in a new sensor and plugs and was back in the saddle. Apparently those sensors can die easily.

Put the og engine back in it. 5.0 sounds weird in that car. Not throaty enough at all. The engine that came in the fastbacks is what made them special. 289 or 390. Or if you wanna get crazy a era matching ford 427 side oiler.

I hate to see people messing up a stock mustangs. The 390 was plenty of horses and should still be now. I would buy a stock 67 Mustang, but not this butchered up version. It's not a 67 Mustang anymore. It's a Frankenstang

Hey Shaun, haven't seen your videos for a while as my computer went down. The Mustang sounds and looks great! So you've also been
sick for a bit too, huh! You gotta find yourself a big momma to make you some chicken soup. If you're still sick these days, here are a
couple of funny jokes to pick you up.
******* Three men were sitting naked in a sauna. Suddenly there was a beeping sound. One of the men pressed his forearm and the beep
stopped. The others looked at him questioningly. "That was my pager,' he said. 'I have a microchip under my skin.'
A few minutes later a phone rang. The man lifted his palm to his ear. When he finished, he explained. 'That was my mobile phone. I have
    a microchip in my hand.'
The third man, an old scooter tramp, felt very low tech. Not to be outdone, he knew he had to do something just as impressive. He stepped
out of the sauna and went to the bathroom. He returned with a long piece of toilet paper hanging from his ass. The other two men raised
their eyebrows and stared at him.
The biker shrugged. 'Well, will you look at that,' he said, 'I'm getting another fax.' *******
******* A man walked into his backyard one morning and found there was a gorilla in a tree. He called a gorilla removal service, and soon a
serviceman arrived with a stick, a chihuahua, a pair of handcuffs and a shotgun.
'Now listen carefully,' he told the homeowner. 'I'm going to climb the tree and poke the gorilla with this stick until he falls to the ground. The
trained chihuahua will then go right for his balls, and when the gorilla instinctively crosses his hands in front to protect himself, you slap the
    handcuffs on.'
'OK, got it,' the homeowner replied, 'But.... what's that shotgun for?'
'If I fall out of the tree before the gorilla,' the man said, 'Shoot the chihuahua.' *******
******* A guy walks into a bar with his pet monkey and orders a drink.... While the man is drinking, the monkey jumps all over the place, eating
everything in sight. He grabs a bowl of pretzels, and empties the whole thing into his mouth, then picks up a wad of napkins, and, .... down
the hatch. He jumps onto the pool table, picks up a billiards ball, then puts it into his mouth, and swallows it whole.
The bartender yells at the guy, 'Your monkey just ate the cue ball off my table --- whole!'
The man finishes his drink, pays for everything and leaves.
A couple of weeks later, the man goes back to the bar with his pet monkey. As he sits down to order a drink, the monkey starts running around,
jumps onto the bar, and finds a cherry.
He grabs the cherry, sticks it up his ass, then pulls it out and pops it into his mouth.
The bartender is disgusted. 'Did you see what your monkey did now?' he asked.
'Yeah, replied the guy. 'He still eats everything in sight, but ever since he swallowed that cue ball, he measures stuff first.' *******

The sound of that Coyote engine was the only music I Like to hear, I love it! Thank's for sharing it. Back in '68, I had a 68 Mustang Convertible, red/ red interior w/white top, 390 4spd, I wanted to trade it in if I could have gotten a green 2+2, none in Flint, Michigan at the time.
