    I look forward to seeing a better offense with Kubiak and Janoko but for me the defense gotta be on point *most* of the time. So Chase, Cam and Lattimore. I would love to see the defense close games out.⚜️

    A single player impacting win or loss total in the NFL... with this new scheme I'd say Kendre Miller.

    Minus Carr, we really don't have another guy that can affect the win total do we? I guess if Young had TJ Watt numbers yea then if Olave had 1500+ yards maybe.We all know the main impact in a negative way for vegas line will always be DA

    The question is a little bit ill-formed because it's too subjective. How do you define what a player's "ceiling" is? Everybody can reasonably have a slightly different definition. A player's ceiling is probably the best year he's had in his career, and maybe bump that up a little bit with the assumption that wasn't his peak. This would not be applicable to older players who are clearly past their prime. (But having said that, the rapist did have a phenomenal year in 2009, at the age of 34.) For rookies, you kind of have to base it on where he was drafted.
    Carr is the clear answer, I think, because he's the quarterback and also because his best year saw him in the MVP conversation, 3rd in voting, and his team went 12-3 in his 15 starts. I'm guessing he had a rest week getting ready for the playoffs. He had 7 game winning drives that year. He's older, but we've seen QB's in this same age range (mid to late 30's) have MVP type seasons many times before. This is not a prediction. I expect him to be more or less average, and nowhere close to being in the MVP conversation, but that's not the question. The question is which player is most impactful to the win total if he reaches his ceiling. With Carr, we also to consider what it will take for him to reach that ceiling. It implies the offensive line is getting the job done. It implies his receivers, running backs, and tight ends are getting the job done, too. It also implies the Klint Kubiak experiment has been successful. If Chase Young has a breakout year and gets 15 to 20 sacks it just means Chase Young is way better than I thought he was. I see his ceiling as more in the 8 to 10 sack range.

    I usually agree with your takes James, But if we look at it on a 1-10 scale penning is a 2/10 at best. Simply just another body.
    But if he is able to find his "Niche" and even become an average player or mediocre, then that effects Alvin Kamara, Miller, Williams. Jet sweeps and possibly pass rush. Which in his current evaluation from his last two years he made a lot of these not even possible...but if he becomes average, gets his footwork down and becomes that super aggressive player like in college he will help alllll of those things mentioned. Especially if we are going to be running 22 schemes and run the 2 te 2 rb.

    • @JamesSkrmetta
      @JamesSkrmetta  Місяць тому +1

      My point is why invest so much time and effort AND risk moving your 1st round pick from RT to LT if all you want is Penning to play average. Go get a veteran OL free agent that you know will be average.
      Also, if all you need is average play from a position it can't be considered the most important player on the team going into a season.

    Trevor Penning, Nick Saldiveri, and Taliese Fuaga panning out is a massive difference for the team though.

    A lockdown corner is very valuable and can add to win total. Why do you think they are paid so much?? You don’t win the same amount of games with or without a lockdown corner. He doesn’t need 15 pick to make a difference. Just lock down one side.

    • @JamesSkrmetta
      @JamesSkrmetta  Місяць тому

      As far as a win-total, a lockdown corner wouldn't move the number.

    I think Cam Jordan is being underestimated. People wanna blame his age and think it's drop off because he's older, but he was playing injured (this is common knowledge and he's not playing in OTAs even though he's still appearing because he's recovering from injury). Just in 2022 he had 8.5 sacks. If he doesn't get injured I could see his production being closer to that than when he was injured this past 2023 season. And sometimes a well-timed sack can seal a game.

    Disagree on the penning point. O Line is still the biggest question for the saints. If you have two 1st round caliber tackles I would feel way more confident in saying that the Saints WILL win some of the games you marked as toss ups. Do I think penning will reach that peak, no of course not, but if he does… (let’s say ovr like 80ish, which is his max max). If we put a lot of blame on bad coaching (for carr for example) I am willing to give penning one more year

    • @JamesSkrmetta
      @JamesSkrmetta  Місяць тому

      My point with Penning is that when they say "if we can get him to just be average" Couldn't you remove the doubt and go get a veteran free agent that you know will play average and not risk moving Fuaga to a position he's not comfortable at?

    How accurate has Vegas compared to pass win/loss records? Derek Carr is definitely number on this list. I understand we want to have high expectations and that we will win the South but we still have unproven offense and rookies that will be thrown to the wolves the first couple weeks of the season.

    A healthy Marshon Lattimore playing at his highest level is 100% more impactful than any offensive lineman we have on our roster. A healthy Lattimore being able to lock down any number 1 WR is way more impactful then a decent Trevor penning season 🤣 As for our CB room Alontae is an average to below average corner at best, adebo is a very good corner I give you that. But We still have No idea how Kool aid will develop in the nfl. Bottom line is a healthy Lattimore and Adebo is the best CB duo in the league.
