I want to make another comment that may interest some. Rocky was played by Pepper Martin a professional wrestler who had moderate success in Portland for about a 20 year stint. In real life he was an extremely likable and friendly guy. He said that they filmed both diner scenes back to back. He said Reeve told him that they were the most fun for him to film. Reeve took him to dinner as well. Heard in an interview with Martin that can be found on UA-cam.
It seems that a lot of actors who play bullies in movies are usually cool in real life. I've read that about the guy who played Biff in Back to the Future.
@@cid2852agreed it's the same with TV shows. I recall reading interviews with the cast from a British soap opera and one said the old People who are gentle on it usually swear like sailors and are hot headed in realty. And the villains and hard men are usually talking about their children and normal things when the camera is off and are nothing like their characters.
Pepper was my brother’s best friend. We lost Pepper last year. A real gentleman and an overall good guy. Yes he was a wrestler and appeared with Woody Stroud as black/ white opponents. I also had the chance to meet Woody, another really good guy.
I kid you not the "I've been working out" line is what got me interested in lifting weights. I asked me Dad while we were watching the movie if lifting weights actually made you tougher. He said it did. I started lifting weights the next day.

"Diner Revenge Scene" No, no, not _revenge._ Superman is not vengeful; that's not at all in the vocabulary of his character. That was _justice,_ which is very much a part of Superman's character. A vengeful Superman? ??? That does not compute-- that's not Superman, never has been and never should be. You must be somehow confusing Superman with maybe The Dark Knight, which are...not easy to confuse. ???
@BringerOfTheTruth : Mild-mannered _Daily Planet_ reporter "Clark Kent" is Superman's disguise, not his "human side." Superman's character remains as Superman and Clark Kent, both. He was motivated by a sense of personal _Justice_ , not personal _Vengance_ as the video's title erroneously suggests.

I met my HS bully years later, I was in Full Moto Leather Gear. I had outgrown him by 7 inches, I said "Hi Keith, you don't remember me do you?" You used to "borrow money", from me in HS.. Shook his hand; he was literally shaking.😏 He looked up at me and said "I did a lot of crazy things in school." Barely remembered me, I smiled and he kindof shrank, I just felt pity..
Had one kid that would hassle me in school. Say all kinds of crap to me. I just took it but then one day on the bus he made the mistake of kicking the bag I was holding. Physical abuse was a red line for me. I would take a lot of verbal abuse but if you laid hands on me it was different. I instantly reacted without thinking about it. Jumped over into the bus seat he was sitting in and punched him right in the head with enough force that it caused his head to slam up against the window then I went back to my seat. That was the last time I had any problems with that idiot.
@@red2977 I once had an altercation with a bully who came after me; I took one shove from him before I laid him out with a forearm shiver. The teacher came over, and asked me what happened. @Marc Belo Hopefully not because the owner Ron told Rocky that he (Ron) just fixed the damages costing a huge amount of money. So maybe she just grabbed the money to say "I'll take care of the damages" that is, if she's the wife of Ron.
The only thing that really got damaged was the pinball machine. And Clark looked like he gave them more than enough to cover that. But then again maybe he was also trying to cover the previous damages too.
I've seen this movie a million times as a kid back in the 80s and always laughed when the guy just grabs his plate and continues eating as the bully slides past him like it's nothing.
I'd see Christopher Reeve walking around the Central Park South area when I lived in New York. Nobody would bother him, but all heads would turn as he passed. In those long-ago days, Superman was indeed real.
I cannot overstate the cheering in the audience when the scene started and they realized what was about to happen. And then the happy shouts when the scene ended and cut to him flying with the American flag.
Chris breaks the fourth wall too. Right after he says “I’ve been working out” he looks right into the camera and does an eyebrow lift. I never noticed that before!

And now RIP Pepper Martin (3-18-2022) aka Rocky. Martin was a big pro wrestling star back in the day.
Hopefully he was able to use that arm later in life
Also that cross eyed look after on the pinball machine just cracks me up!😆
@@dboymax1 yes, icing on the cake. Although I feel it's something superman would not have been proud of doing. The bully might have long term injuries, and will lose his job etc if he can't see.
While Kent suffered mild short term injuries if I remember correctly
Superman 2 was always my favorite as a small child the battle of one versus three was the ultimate climax of all the movies and I loved how the bully got what was coming to him in the last scene.
Christopher Reeve brought innocence and decency to the roll and made it something for kids to look up to. I wish we had more of that today.
Different times back then, but I completely agree with you!
One of my favorite scenes ever, love that little smile at the end, makes me laugh every time.
Fabulous payback. RIP Christopher Reeve!
Good Ol Christopher Reeve, my Superman! Always will be. May he and his wife RIP ❤💙
Christopher Reeve was Superman. The way he played the two roles he played to perfection. Just loved his Superman movies. I have them all on blu ray
Cant say enough about superman 2 love the film and this scene is one of my all time favorites.
He looks like a bodybuilder under that getup he’s got there. RIP
"Gee, that's funny. I've never seen garbarge eat garbage before." Love it.
This was so fun to watch.... and the fourth wall break for a split second was perfectly done!
You mean the Pepper Martin from back in the 60’s? He wasn’t that stocky then.
He was also a guest on "The Incredible Hulk" tv series, which means he met both Superman and Hulk
I’m terribly sorry for all the damages, sir. I’ve been working out.
This is why nobody beats up Superman and gets away with it.
Reeve truly had a good sense of humor
Bruce Wayne lent him the dough
Clark kent : you took everything from me
Rocky : i don't even know who you are
Clark kent : you will
Every nerdy kid ever bullied appreciated this scene.
I came here to see this memorable scene since in episode 4 of the third season of Superman & Lois they do a tribute
I kid you not the "I've been working out" line is what got me interested in lifting weights. I asked me Dad while we were watching the movie if lifting weights actually made you tougher. He said it did. I started lifting weights the next day.
The most important lesson Roshi taught Krillin and Goku. Most of your fighting ability is from your core abilities of strength, speed, agility, etc. that come from just eating right and working out as optimally as you can. Not in those exact words, I don't remember his.
No a person's true strength lays within it doesn't matter how strong you are or tall or what ever in the right circumstances anyone can do this to there bully
@@juliemillington9907 you can have your opinion without having to go out and tell me that I'm wrong. That's very disparaging and quite insulting as well as very rude. If you have an opinion share it, but you don't need to put me down in the process
@@juliemillington9907 no lol, you have weight classes and ranks in fighting for a reason
Reeve was the best Superman, made my childhood and made me love the character. Best scene in the flick right here
Clark: "uh I've been working out..."
Owner: "uh Bull@$>!.... But we won't tell 😉"
"Diner Revenge Scene"
No, no, not _revenge._ Superman is not vengeful; that's not at all in the vocabulary of his character. That was _justice,_ which is very much a part of Superman's character. A vengeful Superman? ??? That does not compute-- that's not Superman, never has been and never should be. You must be somehow confusing Superman with maybe The Dark Knight, which are...not easy to confuse. ???
@BringerOfTheTruth :
Mild-mannered _Daily Planet_ reporter "Clark Kent" is Superman's disguise, not his "human side." Superman's character remains as Superman and Clark Kent, both.
He was motivated by a sense of personal _Justice_ , not personal _Vengance_ as the video's title erroneously suggests.
0:37 I always loved the camera angle and how the camera rolled backwards as Clark walked forward. Who ever directed this particular shot did a really good job, makes Clark look very serious.
Richard Donner did this scene. There is even a cameo of him walking outside the diner.
Happy 42nd Anniversary "SUPERMAN 2" (JUNE 19, 1981)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (R.I.P. Christopher Reeve)
I enjoyed this movie in Japan.
Superman: Good afternoon, Mr. President. Sorry I’ve been away for so long. I won’t let you down again.
I remember my dad saying he always liked that part.
RIP Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder...thank you for being a part of my childhood.
Margot
*That song playing in the background is the icing on the cake* LOL
That was actually a rendition of Average White Band's Pick Up The Pieces. The same band also did Cut The Cake
@@Califah45 They used a sped-up version of the song for the diner scene in East Houston where Ursa breaks the guy's arm.
@@Califah45 Reminds me of how on the G.I. Joe cartoon, the Joes once put together a rock group they called the Average Joe Band. LOL
@@williamshaw9047 no, that’s the original version. They slowed this one down.
@@Califah45 I played in a band that opened up for them at Toads Place in New Haven, CT. The two original members were nice and humble.
So sad the fate that befell Christopher Reeve (even if he made a lot of positives out of it). He was and always will be Superman to me. Absolutely brilliant.
This is the best part of Superman 2 ever I will remember this forever love this
I love how Superman doesn't pound the living daylights out of the scumbag like he could have and probably wanted to. Just teaching the bully a lesson in humility was enough.
That soundtrack never gets old.
If Superman II was made nowadays this would be the perfect post credits scene!
One of my absolutely favourite Superman moments ever! Still love it! Always makes me laugh! Only Christopher Reeve could pull it off like that.
Our Superman.
Christopher reeve and Michael Keaton will always be my batman and superman
Christopher Reeves from the TV series is my favorite. This Christopher Reeve is my favorite in the movies. Both R.I.P and Thank you both for bringing Superman to life. 🙏
0:07 I actually heard a guy say that at a restraunt and I said “Nice to meet you! Your actually the first cannibal I’ve met!” And then he started to chase me 😂
Hey Ron, gimme another plate of this garbage!
So many sick burns in one scene
Anyone who was ever fortunate enough to have a hand in their childhood bully’s comeuppance has to love this scene.
For me it was stuffing this one guy’s shot on the basketball court 3 times on the same possession in front of all his buddies years after he’d been a jerk when we were in grade school.
Nice 👍🏻

Can’t deny it felt fine.
I met my HS bully years later, I was in Full Moto Leather Gear.
I had outgrown him by 7 inches, I said "Hi Keith, you don't remember me do you?" You used to "borrow money", from me in HS.. Shook his hand; he was literally shaking.😏
He looked up at me and said "I did a lot of crazy things in school." Barely remembered me, I smiled and he kindof shrank, I just felt pity..

I once had an altercation with a bully who came after me; I took one shove from him before I laid him out with a forearm shiver. The teacher came over, and asked me what happened. I calmly said “He started it….I FINISHED it.” The teacher nodded, and walked off, and I never heard anything more about it.
I love that he looks at the camera and raises his eyebrows right at the end
The bully getting owned, I absolutely love it!😁🍻
It really sucks what happened to Christopher Reeve.
The Superman movies were such a huge part of my youth.
I'm still sad over the fact that Mr. Reeve is no longer with us.
He really caught a horrible break.
RIP Superman.
It was terrible what happened to him.
But he left behind this film mythology for us to view for all time, when he was still in his prime and able bodied.
Christopher Reeve was a cool actor.
I agree mate
Christopher Reeve is Superman 🦸♂️
I loved Christopher Reeve's Superman. He will always be my Superman.
For this today this is still one of my favorite superman scenes. The very best
1:44 woman grabs money lmao she's probably going to go on a spending spree, instead of repairing the restaurant.
@Marc Belo Hopefully not because the owner Ron told Rocky that he (Ron) just fixed the damages costing a huge amount of money. So maybe she just grabbed the money to say "I'll take care of the damages" that is, if she's the wife of Ron.
Whelp, we found the single guy.
The only thing that really got damaged was the pinball machine. And Clark looked like he gave them more than enough to cover that. But then again maybe he was also trying to cover the previous damages too.

The way Superman lifts this guy up from the chair like a small child 🤣🤣
I've seen this movie a million times as a kid back in the 80s and always laughed when the guy just grabs his plate and continues eating as the bully slides past him like it's nothing.
Remember seeing this at the theater. Everybody went nuts when this scene happened.
I'd see Christopher Reeve walking around the Central Park South area when I lived in New York. Nobody would bother him, but all heads would turn as he passed. In those long-ago days, Superman was indeed real.
Before his horse riding accident of course
@@altha2008 I didn't see any need to belabor the obvious.
Saw this in theaters when I was 7. Still my favorite Superman movie. Ken Thorne's score(with themes by John Williams) was amazing.
And he even pays for the damages; what a real superhero
I cannot overstate the cheering in the audience when the scene started and they realized what was about to happen. And then the happy shouts when the scene ended and cut to him flying with the American flag.
*_"Give me some more of this GARBAGE"_*
As a kid I thought he was actually eating garbage! 🤣😂🤣😂
Chris breaks the fourth wall too. Right after he says “I’ve been working out” he looks right into the camera and does an eyebrow lift. I never noticed that before!
The bones in his hands are cracking even after the punch. Lol
There's so much drama in this scene. It's the showdown, the walk to, the music, the cafe owner, the guy so nervous he drops his cup, the witnesses, I love this scene simple but effective.
He through his weight into that punch 🤣
what bones in his hand?
