Looking at the photos I was blown away by how old everyone looked. Then it dawned on me. These were my childhood memories. And I'm almost 50 now. Crap. I need a drink.
right with you there.. makes me sad.. i don't keep up much with Hollywood anymore, its not even close to the same. When I see these actors I see them and remember then what they looked like. Then i see them now and i get upset and sad. I mean, age doesn't really hit anyone until they get older and been through more life experience. You think you are going to live forever. I hit 40 , not big deal. When i hit 50 it hit like a brick though I'm in amazing shape and people think I'm in my late 30's , the numbers don't lie. I also know Hollywood takes it toll. When they get a certain age they disappear . For many, regardless how successful they are, " they had their time" and get really , pushed away and ignored for the newer actors and actresses. I think that constant attention, ego they got most all their life suddenly ends and they also are not getting anymore acting jobs. But hey, what a great retirement worth millions right? Take care of yourself. Functional medicine MD's ... know your dna, support the hormones that lower over time and age you. Live longer.
I went to see all the Superman series in the movie theater. In 1980, I was in the first year of high school. The most entertaining and justice superman! I was a hero. While watching this video, I was moved to tears ... Thank you very much. 😢
I was right behind you. I was 14 and remember them all so well. I remember at 12 , being amazing by star wars ( live in so cal ) Its just not the same anymore honestly. What hollywood has become, how they rip off iconic movies that shouldnt be touched and push agendas and make them worse. At least we can say we LIVED THE 80's , with all the amazing music and movies.
Ditto. He's my first on screencrush at age of 7! I remember going to Superman in theaters! He's the blueprint to what I like in men, tall, dark and blue eyes!
So weird I saw this video a few mons ago and was wondering about Beatty. I think his last roll was that doll in Toy Story and was outstanding. I believe in premonitions: a lot of times i have come across people randomly before they pass. God bless his soul and family.
I loved these movies as a child. I also like how many of these actors, also premiered on the tv series "Smallville". The actors that played Zod, Jimmy Olsen, Lois Lane, Lana Lang, Supergirl, and of course Superman...all appeared on "Smallville". 🙂
I was just six years old when that movie came out. I really miss Christopher Reeves, Gene Hackman, and Margot Kidder. Yeah it was on the news big time when Christopher Reeves had that accident on the horse. Thanks so much UA-cam for giving out this information. I really appreciate it.
@@hardv8 yeah I know. I watched the video. It was just nice to know anyway. Every time I think of Superman, I just go back to the 80's with Superman 2. Those days were great. Americans didn't have that much to worry about then.
Disappointed the description of Christopher Reeves was shortened. No mention of his terrible accident which had him wheelchair bound? Not giving his cause of death as the others yet he was the star of the movie!

I will always remember the gad guys talking about "planet oustan." It was hilarious. The first "Superman" movie was the best and it started the movie genre of super heroes that still goes on today. "Superman," however, will always be my favorite. Today's super hero movies offer and overdose of heroes and special effects leaving out the human interactions so well done in many of the earlier movies.
Christopher Reeve became quadriplegic when he was thrown from his horse during an equestrian competition in Virginia and broke his neck on May 27, 1995 .
interesting how reeve ended up looking like his arch enemy in superman.....as well as in the film "above suspicion" he played a cop who wanted to get away with murdering his wife...so he FAKED being paralyzed, and of-course could not have committed the crime. his accident took place 6 days after the film's release. i remember exactly where i was when i found out, i was walking into the mess-hall on fort drum and saw the front page of a paper in a newsbox. reeve was also a big ny rangers fan, my favorite team.
Christopher Reeve embodied Superman. He is the bar. Very believable both as Clark Kent and as Superman. I always felt that Brandon Routh (and in a way, Henry Cavill) was kinda effective only because of his likeness to Christopher Reeve.
You are quite right about Brandon Routh and Henry Cavill, such was the incredible charismatic and physical presence of Christopher Reeve, he completely owned that role.
Christopher Reeves set "The Look" for all Supermen that came after him. Look at everyone that has ever played Superman since then and they all share a resemblance to Christopher Reeves who didn't share any sort of a resemblance to anything like the original Superman, George Reeves. Christopher Reeves will always be the very embodiment of Superman ...... Unless Disney gets the rights to Superman (when they have to Fire Sale Marvel to raise cash), and then they will probably cast Superman as a half-Latino, half-Asian woman or something LOL.
Margot Kidder was fired from appearin on the next Supermans, cause saying that Louise Lane is as important as Superman, and she asked for double the raise of paying in the next Supermans, but producers said m m ahah!!
I have always had a tremendous crush on Valerie Perine. Miss Tesmacher was a wonderful character for her. And, needless to say, she was built like a brick outhouse!!! It was so saddening to see her latest photo. God bless you Valerie!
Christopher reeves is the only superman,he was a beautiful man, inside and out,I'm sure a lots of women desired him in the 1970s and 1980s,but only one lady, captured his heart, his late in wife.
Yeah reminds you how old I really am when all the great actors of your time become so old, or have passed on. It's like being stuck in time watching older movies I grew up watching. I'm 52 I just don't think of today's actors the same as the ones I grew up watching in the movies, or on TV.
Well I’m middle age at least not too late to get into acting! Poor Valerie she looks like she’s in so much pain. I hate seeing people in pain; even actors. I grew up with this movie btw. It Was my childhood literally snd I still have the movie magazine which was fantastic promo for the movie..it really made you want to see it; fantastic movie. I wish I could have met Margot kidder or Chris Reeve or other actors before they died. That’s my biggest regret. This movie was so inspiring for me it made me work hard while growing up: studying piano, taking judo, doing boy scouts and honours student so many years: they should have made 10 superman films with reeve plus 5 year tv series but then I probably wouldn’t have spent any time on my studies so I guess it’s all for the best but the movies in the 90s got so much darker and less inspiring especially with guys like jim carry who were so arrogant. ps Sarah Douglas was so convincing as Ursa it was spinetngling to watch, heads shes around my mothers age! she should play her in a remake of “mommy dearest” did my mother take her ice cold cues from Sarah Douglas’ Ursa portrayal? My mother did watch the movie too! So much pain from my childhood..
Showing Sarah Douglas in a hospital bed? Seriously? No class whatsoever. She's still doing conventions today and is very active. How tacky of you "Big Star X" =M=

Yes. I agree
100%
I agree he didn't wear any fake muscles he work with body builder trainers to build up his body he didn't want any fake body suit.
I heard he won very little for the movie.

Amazing. Almost everyone appeared 10 years older than they actually were in the film.
Back before the 90s, older characters were more common. And regular-looking characters. Now pretty much every character is a super model.

Ye spot on. Just confusing when you watch a old film you actually thinks there like that still but there like this in reality
