Why is no one acknowledging the fact that stan saying "mabel please" is what may have caused her to not press the button? There was a entire episode on how he didn't say "please" and the fact that he did say it at this moment could've pushed mabel to trust him and not push the button.
"Look into my eyes Mabel! You really I'm a bad guy?" Favorite quote of the whole show. Every moment of Stan's life since he got kicked out of his home has been ripping people off, but I think every fan knew the answer was no just like Mabel.
Let's acknowledge the fact that everyone in Stan's family(his own brother and parents) only saw him has a bad person, and Dipper had a hard time trusting him, especially during the 1st season, and in that moment he literally lost all the trust he had about Stan. So Mabel was basically the only one in the family that not only trusts Stan but she is also the only one in family that sees good in him.
Realize how dipper says “listen to your head” something that Stanford always says. Dipper is Stanfords mirror. Stanley is Mabel’s mirror. Both pair of twins have the same story just one ended in bitterness. That’s why Mabel could trust Stan. As well as he always got along with her the most. That’s why Mabel asked dipper if they would too end up like the stans.
This episode is AMAZING. It has humor, action, thill, drama, and questions answered. This episode is the most polished and well thought out episode yet. And the best part, Gravity Falls will only get better!
I don’t know if anyone else can relate, but this really touched a part of my childhood memory: when you meet some distant relatives in a family reunion or a holiday, there’s always someone who you can’t help but doubt that you’re related. An uncle, aunt or cousin that just seems shady and scary to you as a child, because you’re too young to understand the complexity of life and people.
one of the best scenes of any television show ever. the anticipation i had watching this live was insane and the plot reveal was worth it. crazy to think this all came from a kids tv show.
No one feats with this show! Cuz it's awesome, and unlike those other cartoon shows who got cancelled due to it's too much OP to watch (+Disney, save this epic masterpiece and don't let it fall out of the season or i will be back unto my previous boring freaking life!)
Thanks goodness Mabel thinks with her heart (Dipper is influenced by the "TRUST NO ONE" thing)...Damn this scene is probably the best part of the entire show....so powerful
I was basically nonfunctional as a human being for about thirty-five minutes after seeing that. Absolutely perfect. Bravo, Mr. Hirsch, Ms. Schaal, Mr. Ritter, bravo.
Absolutely wonderful storytelling and a fantastic reveal. I know some people are disappointed due to it being "predictable" but it had to be. Stan having a secret twin brother without the appropriate foreshadowing would have seemed like a cheap cop-out. More than that, TV Shows that always strive to be unpredictable usually end up becoming a convoluted mess. Alex has faked us out multiple times in the past, going the straightforward way worked perfectly here.
0:11 I never imagined that ever. I knew Dipper and Mable would reavel stan's secret portal but I didn't thought that they will confront each other. I liked that shot
I quote: "The laptop is an electronic device developed and used by Old Man McGucket[1] during his work with the author of the journals, and was later recovered and repaired by Soos Ramirez, then smashed by Bill Cipher, then once more repaired by Old Man McGucket. In the 1980's McGucket worked with the author of the journals. When he left the author's research project, he left behind the laptop to the author's care. At some point it ended up in the Bunker."
Nobody talks about how Stan made a more effective portal than his brother. True it broke afterwards, but it didn’t suck anyone in and actually brought Ford home safely.
Maybe it's because they stayed far from it, like, mcgucket was very close to it when he got sucked in, so did ford, but no one here was that close to it
Alright story time: Before Ford going through the portal here,he's actually in the middle of hunting Bill in a weird triangle cubic thingy dimension (you know, the triangle that is pretty much a mobius strip and is very weird). If you notice,he was carrying a rifle thingy that he used later in weirdmageddon.Yea that thing was made up from many things that originated from various worlds in the multiverse and Ford become a multiversal criminal despite him protesting saying that "It was for science!" in which it is,and also to kill Bill and potentially any powerful being Alright back to the story, after Ford completed his weapon,he decided to end his fight once and for all and went for Bill in the nightmare realm (dimension 0,the dimension in ruins that is connected to all dimensions) and blammo Bill run away to the aforementioned twisted triangle stair dimension thingy.Bill was taunting him at that time and just when Ford was about to shoot Bill, the dimension rumbles and the portal opened,Ford who sees a way back home then become hesitant and then he decides to go through the portal...with Bill's remarks about seeing him again ringing in his ears...and yeah that's all.
While it can be disappointing it is also a great crafting of story telling, and foreshadowing. This just shows how well crafted the show was. Sure it was figured out by tons of people but it was well enough foreshadowed that it could be figured out so well.
Does anyone else remember that Mabel used her grappling hook in this episode? That was one of the best parts of the episode, seeing the twins sneak into the shack in such an awesome way.
Notice how when Soos attacks Stan, he says "Soos what're you doing?! I gave you an order!!". Was that order the time when Stan asked Soos to protect the machine? We obviously knew it wasn't the Vending Machine he was protecting.. So this obviously means Soos knows about the machine. Sorry about my grammar..
unless you're not counting the thumbs as fingers, ford would have 5 fingers, not 6. because if he had 6 fingers and you count the thumb, he would have 7.
Exactly. I think I heard him say in an interview that if you just have a twist with no setup, you're just a soap opera; leaving a trail of breadcrumbs with no actual bread. And one can hardly call this twist "predictable" when before it was confirmed there were just as many people denying it and trying to disprove it. I find it liberating that the Stanley theorists were right; it's not always enjoyable to simply be caught off-guard. The fact that we got something THIS BIG right is more engaging.
3:07 Dipper: What? Who is that? 🤔 Stan: The author of the journals. My brother 😕 Mabel: Is this a part where one of us fades? Soos: (chuckles) I am so on it dude. (Soos fades to the ground)
Dipper tells Mabel to listen to her head And in Mabel’s prison bubble, Mabel tells Dipper to stop listening to his head I always come back to this episode. The lighting is phenomenal
When Mabel started crying it made my cry too! She was so confused! I bet dipper is glad she trusted grunkle Stan, but God it killed me when she cried. I MUST KNOW WHAT HAPPENS MEXT
And the best part is: I got totally spoiled before watching the episode :D Also, I couldn't watch any episode since the golf war, so I still thought that McGucket was the author.

2:26 Is that is that Bill? I mean the pupil stretch. Also Alex said someone will die in season 2. And the shape shifter said that dipper's last for would be the pine tree pose. But he was alright. So was it Bill all along after that?
i can't be the only one who thought for a second that Mabel was going to hit the button? 0.0 Anyways, this is 3 and a half minutes of the best animation I've ever really seen. Just another reason why I love this amazing show :D
Even though i had a good feeling the twin theory was true, this scene STILL blows my mind, and i think the build up from the very beginning to this point still made this just as shocking as an unexpected and unpredictable plot twist, i mean, IM still shocked, and personally I felt that the theory had little to no effect on the tension and the suspense that was built up in this ep.

He’s kind of had to.
Imagine if the one person who gave a shit about you was about to leave your life.
Let's acknowledge the fact that everyone in Stan's family(his own brother and parents) only saw him has a bad person, and Dipper had a hard time trusting him, especially during the 1st season, and in that moment he literally lost all the trust he had about Stan.
