Finally, the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride - Porto 2017
This video represents my perspective about what i felt, during the 2017 Distinguished Gentleman's Ride at the city of Oporto, in the North of Portugal.
My special thanks to the organization, for making this lovely event possible.
All the video footage came from an SJ 4000 action cam, and also from the Canon Powershot G7X.
I hope you like.

Quem foi o gênio que escolheu o percurso de pedras sendo que poderia chover?! kkk. Prêmio ideia do ano! Ou é difícil escolher um roteiro que evite os paralelepípedos?
Mas nunca vi tanta moto bonita junta! É de surtar! O DGR está se tornando o grande Éden das motocicletas vintage e custom. Eu fui no DGR Brasília, Brasil, capital. O encontro é pequeno, mas haviam muitas motos interessantes. Parecem que saem do underground para se juntar no DGR.

Muito obrigado amigo. Na realidade algumas das ruas mais importantes da Cidade do Porto são pavimentadas com "paralelos"(como nós as chamamos aqui). Mas também posso garantir que nada fazia prever que a chuva fosse acontecer naquele dia, até porque de manhã saí de casa com o céu praticamente azul. realmente o DGR é o principal evento que faz reunir a grande maioria das Cafe Racers e outras motos customizadas. Mais um belíssimo vídeo de um belíssimo evento, feito em uma belíssima cidade (Que infelizmente não conheço fisicamente, para minha tristeza), sobre uma belíssima moto, mostrando um belíssimo povo, desse belíssimo canal e meu favorito! Os ''Pequenos Gentlemans" foi o mais bonito, que cresçam e venham a ser verdadeiros e honrados gentlemans com suas amadas motocicletas, assim como a participação de tantas lindas damas. Ahh your videos just keep getting better and better, I truly enjoy watching your insparational videos. They are made so well, it's just brilliant. I have asked you a over a year ago as a 18 years old what bike I should get. I'v been saving up money ever since and if I will keep saving in 8 month's I will have enough money to buy my dream motorcycle, the Royan Enfield Continental GT in black with the brown single seat. With the insurance price and the license and the protective gear. It's going to take time, but I will enjoy it. As you said all priceless memories have to come with sacrifices. I might not go out and party but I will have my own dream and goal fulfilled.

Hahahaha it rains like that here in Mexico... actually i have had gone to work as wet as that... one hour travel to work and is like you jumped on a pool... is nice to see your videos again. DGR here in Mexico city was delayed because of an earthquake...

Oh man, the same thing happened in El Salvador, I almost did not make it because it was really dark and rained the night before, but my brother and nephew convinced me to go, it was awesome!

Your mention of ice with the painted stripes makes me think back to me and my pop riding on ice in Wichita, ks. Made me a far better rider busting my arse trying to stay up right on that nightmarish surface.

We're on opposite sides of the pond my Friend, but I felt as though I was on the ride with you. Thanks so much for taking us all along for the ride. Awesome video, i got caught out coming home from holiday on My bike in a tremendous thunder storm and of course.....no wet gear, must have rode at least 150 miles through it. Complete drenched, but I still loved every minute of it and my face cheeks were sore from smiling. 😎👍👍👍

Sad to hear you got soaked.
I got drenched returning from the Calne Bike meet and had to empty my boots out. But despite enjoying an english downpour for 30 miles, I wasn't soaked to the skin.
So - something I discovered many years ago is that Hydrophane Leather Dressing, which is for horse tack, actually waterproofs leather. And is the only stuff I've ever found that really does keep water out of leather apparel, jacket, gloves, and boots.

Once again, I felt like I was riding along with you, rain and all. This is a very worthwhile event and certainly worth the attention you have given to the day! I had planned to ride the DGR close to me in nearby Nashville, Tennessee (Music City USA). However, two and a half weeks ago I had complete hip replacement surgery and, of course, no riding for me for a few months. Thank you for the excellent report! Too bad you had to endure the rain, but all good things come at a price! Best regards.....

Thank you for sharing the DGR Porto ride. Looks a lot like a typical Scandinavian sommers day. This season has been extremly wet and cold even for Sweden. Darling (xs650) has only been out for short rides. We all hope for a better bike season next year. Thank you all DGR riders for solid effort.'

Such a wonderful event. Too bad it was cut short by the rain. And those wet cobblestones can be dangerous even for walking. Perhaps next year the DGR organizer in Portugal could consider holding the event down in Algarve to ensure good weather. I would fly over from Canada to participate!

Great video, and you have a beautiful bike, muy hermosa y clásica. I still have good memories when I was a teenager (long time ago, 2000) and I had a Suzuki 100cc and I want those memories back, I am planning to buy a bike(not now). I always tell my wife that when you are riding a bike the feeling is unique, you feel free, you feel like flying, that sensation is priceless.

Yet another very enjoyable video, When i had my Suzuki GT750 i used to love the rain, it was the only time that all riders were equal. It didn't matter what bike you had, it was all down to the rider. So my GT750 was fantastic acceleration, but wasn't the best in the corners, the rain was the great equalier.
Your perspective is right. It remind me an opposite conclusion. In Formula 1, Ayrton Senna had always some racing advantage when it was raining. Lol. Cheers.

O Conselho Nacional de Trânsito, CONTRAN, emitiu algumas resoluções que, na prática, tornam a legalização de uma moto personalizada bastante difícil, sem falar na já tradicional subjetividade de alguns dispositivos, o que deixa ao juízo de cada "autoridade" a decisão sobre o que é certo e errado...
Helio Eduardo Ribeiro Grupilo verdade, mais o que esperar de um país que tem lei para tudo, mais que se preocupa com coisa sem sentido e não aplica em coisas sérias como a venda indiscriminada de linhas e serol. Corrupção então nem pensar.

Olá Vitor! Parabéns pelo vídeo e pelo evento. Descobri a alguns meses que minha história tem algo em comum com esta maravilhosa cidade e ,logo, logo, pretendo conhecê-la.
O "seu" DGR foi impressionante, quantas motos lindas! Aqui no Rio de Janeiro o evento foi, em parte, ofuscado por problemas de segurança pública. Uma pena, até porque esse foi o motivo pelo qual acabei não comparecendo.
Mas não há de ser nada. Se muita coisa der certo, e não é uma promessa (kkk), ano que vem nossa CG125 vai estar pronta, devidamente customizada.

Tente procurar no youtube por "The Secret of Cafe Racer Inspiration", e aí verá várias das nossas motorizadas nacionais, mas no estado original. Esta foi a minha melhor tentativa de mostrar ao mundo os nossos gostos por motas. Mas obrigado pela sugestão. :) Um abraço.

Estava previsto eu participar também mas depois de consultar o trajecto e o estado do tempo para esse dia, posso apenas dizer que me "cortei" ao evento com imensa pena minha. RACER TV talvez me tenha expressado mal. Disse que o meu amigo que a levou aparece ao minuto 3.7 creio, e o que se vê é o capacete dela, o cor de laranja. Estivemos a duas ou três motas de distância quando estávamos a sair. Ainda estive perto da sua porque a reconheci logo mas como entretanto não aparecia fui vendo todo o espólio que por lá havia.
Aaaaa, ok. Realmente depois do momento da saída, foi difícil de alcançar o que quer que seja. Até eu cheguei a perder o contacto com alguns companheiros com quem viajava. Mas para o próximo ano encontra-remo-nos de certeza. :) Um abraço.

Obrigado amigo. e parabéns pela sua máquina. Curiosamente cheguei a falar sobre ela com o meu companheiro de viagem. É uma verdadeira raridade. Se a memória não me falha, no inicio do DGR a minha pequena honda ficou estacionada a uns 4 metros das sua. Mas é normal que ninguém me reconheça, já que quase nunca apareço nos meus videos. Normalmente só sou reconhecido quando estou a circular na minha máquina. Talvez no próximo ano tenhamos mais sorte em conversarmos um pouco. :) Um abraço.

Olá amigo Fernando. Por acaso a "spark" ainda não existia quando fui a Veneza à 11 anos atrás. Em relação ao DGR no brasil, pelo que sei sempre existiu em algumas cidades. Normalmente é sempre agendado para o ultimo Domingo do mês de Setembro. :) Um abraço.
