Finally, the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride - Oporto 2018
This video represents my perspective about what i felt, during the 2018 Distinguished Gentleman's Ride at the city of Oporto, in the North of Portugal.
My special thanks to the organization(Ton-Up Garage), for making this lovely event possible.
All the video footage came from an GoPro 4 Silver action cam, and also from a Canon Powershot G7X.
I hope you like it.

i expected the ducati... italian cars and bikes are nice looking, but ... when it comes to reliability i choose japanese ....
How is it with the style guide mentioned by DGR? I saw some "common" bikes on your video too...

I've been searching high and low for a cafe's and cafe bike meets in my area for quite some time. We have benefit rides that draws huge crowds, but I'd love to organize a local cruise in for bikes that meet once a month or so. Cheers Racer! Another winner of a video. I thought I was bike rac!st, when I picked the Ducati, because Italian motorcycles & cars, look, act, and sound, so nice, but their reliability is so commonly poor. Like they sacrificed that for passion & art.
I didn't laugh when Frankenstein didn't start. I was too disappointed in myself, for prejudging the Ducati...but I was right XD.
Everytime I listen and watch your videos on Frankenstein my hairs on my arms, and the back of my neck stand up on end, the song that your Frankenstein puts out is just pure intoxication, I cannot get enough of it just like you, I have an 82 CX500 that will be fitted with peashooters just like yours, keep up the good work brother I love the videos, cheers from Anaheim California!
I guessed when you said it, an older bike breaking down would not have been so note worthy. As usual, there were some outstanding motorcycles, i particularly liked that fabulous Martini Tracker and those beautiful Triumphs, but I could probably watch this over and over and see different "stand out" motorcycles every time. I noticed that the rain stayed away this year, well better look next year (ha ha). Once again another excellent production. P'S your bike sounded very nice, especially on the over run. I really do think I'm going to have to build something with the cylinders sticking out, they just look so good.

From the beginnig I thought it was the Ducati. The other three bikes were Honda CXs! I would love to one day participate in this ride with my Kawasaki 900 Cafe Racer, but it would take quite a bit for me to get it and myself there, but, I will always have Racer TV to show me...

In answer to your question, and to simplify, which bike died en route, one of the Japanese bikes or the Ducati? Really, who could guess wrong? In fact, who would be surprised if the Ducati did not burst in flames?

I use this "robotic" voice created by software, because i'm Portuguese, and my bad english accent (and voice), can ruin the documentary character that i like for my videos. I already tried a real american voice in one of my videos, but things didn't worked as i expected. Curiously, the robotic voice sounds very good for all non english natives. Cheers.

I missed this year's DGR as I had to train for karate event. My display pic here is from last year's DGR where I unveiled my cafe racer. I was sad I could not go this year but your video has given me the satisfaction of a whole meal's worth! Thank you!

I knew it, I swear I did, I said right away as the video was starting and as you mentioned breaking down or not being fully mechanically sound. And when Frankenstein didn’t start I thought to myself he’s just messing with my emotions! Lol 😂

I would have liked a closer look at several of those bikes, the virago250, the "most expensive bike"..... but really enjoyed the video!

Hi, my Virago is an 535 and I don't know if was the most expensive bike, but it was a very expensive project.
Ducatis are beautiful and powerful; but not 100 reliable.

Seeing that young boy on the tank brought back found memories. I fell in love with motorcycles at the age of 3 riding on the tank of my brothers Suzuki 250 enduro. That was 45 years ago!

Driving a 42 year old Honda CB500F I knew it couldn't be one of the Honda's they always get you home.

Sounds like you have a problem known as "Vapor-Lock"...hope this helps..good luck.
Good thinking. To be honest, i had never heard about Vapor-Lock. But after some research on the internet, i think this is not the case, because my Honda doesn't have fuel pump. But there is some true about that "Vapor-Lock". Because now i am suspecting that it might be something related to water vapor due to a small leak to the combustion chamber. No my friend, I didn’t laugh. My mind was racing trying to figure out why you weren’t getting fuel. Air and spark were obvious! I hope you sort that out soon. Again, a wonderful video that represents a genuine cause that also sparks a lot of interest in the custom scene, and contributes to a worthwhile cause. My dear Friend, as always, Thank you for all your kind words. I appreciate your support. It seems you have a very good brain to solve technical. If i were you, i would think exactly the same where the engine didn't start. I still didn't found the cause of the problem. But i am also thinking that could be the new angle of the engine position, which changes the amount of gasoline inside the carburetors. :) Cheers.
RACER TV .... yes, very likely the problem. Perhaps, the floats are not seating or the fuel weeps out the overflow? If either of these were the issue though, you’d see/smell the gasoline after being parked for a period of time. I’m sure you will find the issue. I always eagerly await your new video. They are always intriguing and spark my creative side and interests. I have been riding over 52 years now and you can always learn something new and interesting! Please keep up your great series. You have helped the Café builders dream and create many exciting machines. As always, ride safe my friend!
Yes, sometimes there is a gasoline smell after parking the bike. I am going to check out on that. :) Thank you for your help.

Por acaso mais tarde descobri que o problema da minha CX pegar mal a quente, estava relacionado com as juntas das colaças, que deixavam o liquido do radiador entrar da camera de combustão depois de parar a mota. Felizmente ficou tudo resolvido após trocar as juntas, e aumentar o aperto das colaças. :) um abraço, e Bom Natal para Si também. Obrigado.

For reasons of my work I could not connect yesterday, as I always do in the morning. I was waiting for that fabulous video that makes Porto so special. Motorcycles in a beautiful city what a combination! It could not be different this year, only with the difference of a new Honda in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride And what a motorcycle! Somehow I knew that the question was tricky and the answer could only be the Ducati. Many motorcycles of various types and prices, although for a biker its very own motorcycle is priceless. Unfortunately this weekend is the Moto Fiesta in my city of León and I do not have a motorcycle. My 250 required more intervention because of a transmission problem. I decided to disarm it all and rectify the details all the details it had. Another of the motorcyclists' manias: perfection. Greetings and missing a stop to consume a francesinha hahaha

I personally didn't care which bike had problems. I have only done 1 DGR. I live in Australia. I rode in Melbourne but I live in the country about 300 kilometres from Melbourne so I made that trip an overnighter. I will do it again for sure but need to build up more $$ for overnight accommodation.

Achei curioso o que disse sobre as dificuldades em arranjar peças aí no Brasil, para além da raridade de alguns modelos. É que a maioria dos Brasileiros que já comentaram aqui no Canal, queixam-se também da policia que normalmente não facilita em nada, quando manda alguém parar com uma moto transformada. Não sei se aí a Polícia do Exército Brasileiro também tem as mesmas funções da policia de transito. Mas gostava de saber a sua opinião sobre este assunto. :)
@@RACER_TV o problema aqui é a legislação... Ela interfere demais na vida do brasileiro... Existem poucos modelos de motocicletas... É peças são caras e de má qualidade.
A Polícia Militar somente cumpre a legislação... A Polícia do Exército não tem atribuições de controle de trânsito fora das áreas militares.

Olá Amigo. Curiosamente, tenho vários amigos com o nome Fernando. É um nome bastante comum aqui em Portugal. Em relação ao nome da moto, na realidade ele não reflecte aquilo que a moto parece ser, mas sim a história sobre como chegou até ao ponto em que está actualmente, ou seja, é uma moto que foi construída juntando muitas peças de outras motos. :) Obrigado amigo pelo comentário.:) Um abraço.
Hi folks, thanks for the comments to my Yamaha Virago, it is actually a 535, it was a huge project, almost everything customized, included the helmet, I made it from scratch with carbon fiber and kevelar.
Olá Viva. Sim, parece que me enganei no modelo, pois não reparei que tinha veio de transmissão. Mas parabéns pelo projecto. Mesmo não sendo uma Cafe Racer, ficou uma máquina muito interessante. Em relação ao Capacete, quando o vi pareceu-me ser um Nexx SX.60 alterado, ou pelo menos o formato da concha é bastante semelhante. Estarei enganado? :)
Olá, Agradeço o destaque no vídeo :-), no meio de tantas motas e num ambiente de festa, não é fácil reparar em todos os detalhes :-). Para o capacete usei de base um capacete barato que comprei numa grande superfície, fiz alguns ajustes de design e a partir daí construi um molde em fibra de vidro. Posteriormente, utilizei esse molde para modelar o capacete em fibra de carbono e kevlar. Tenho imagens dos meus projetos em álbuns públicos no face, se estiveres interessado em ver visita a minha página facebook.com/ajsms.
O meu próximo projeto será muito provavelmente uma café racer.

Obrigado amigo. Fico contente que tenha gostado. Ainda não resolvi o problema, mas entretanto acho que já descobri a origem do mesmo. Ao contrário do que pensava inicialmente, tudo indica que seja o avanço da faísca ou um dos imans que marca o ponto da faísca, ou seja, o motor parece estar um pouco descomandado na faísca das velas, daí pegar mal de vez em quando. Mas ainda não confirmei. :) Um abraço.

Belo passeio!!! Este ano fui ao DGR do Rio de Janeiro.
Infelizmente ouvi algumas piadas desagradaveis por ter comparecido com uma Harley.....
Fiquei impressionado com o número de participantes aí na Cidade do Porto... Um belissimo evento, com motos espetaculares.
Quanto à Frankenstein, belíssima!!!!
