What I would like in the sequels is the resistance finding a small squad of these droids, reprogramming them, then make the knights of Ren in ep. 9 actually good, then have them fight on that star destroyer (with some actually good choreography) with the transmitter thingy instead of fucking horses, sacrifice themselves and destroy the star destroyer. This probably isn't any good but still, could be better than the current clusterfuck the sequels are right now
It is my understanding that the MagnaGuards were the first droid models to be considered for populating the Separatist armies. The only reason they were rejected is because Palpatine thought they would end the war far too quickly.
sounds too expensive to make. Plus if an army like that exist the Republic would just stay away from that and bomb it from space. Don't put all your eggs in one basket.
Nice, but cutting them in half (top to bottom, not at the waist) will destroy them in one swipe. Granted it was probably hard to get in that position, but still
I remember thinking that it would have been really cool if Rey had used an old salvaged electro staff. Maybe it's not even obvious that's what it is, until she has to get into a fight with Kylo, and even then it's running on some kind of inferior battery, so it fizzles out, and she uses the force to grab the lightsaber.
If I were a cis commander I would have manufactured a modified version that could fit in clone armor (preferably riot trooper) so they could go into a republic base and Assassinate Jedi
Those are called Commando droids The smaller version/fast version of Madgnaguard that uses blasters instead of melee. I don't think they can make an actual MagnaGuard small enough to fit into clone armor.
Congrats, your strategy fails instantly once the magnaguards fail to follow orders and get instantly found out by the clones. You've now just sent a magnaguard to die in the middle of an enemy base
7:06 actually there were a few that could in fact do that. But two of them were the grandmaster (Yoda) and master of the order,(Mace Windu) respectively. and the third was the standard blade instructor for the temple (Cin Drallig). Those however, are special cases and they all make sense.

Wow that little gameplay footage literally would have been enough for us to understand why they were a terror, like you said the animations does not do them justice!
I always thought the MagnaGuards were cool and powerful, but I never realized they were that much trouble for the Clones. Well, now I feel stupid for having that Arc Trooper kill that MagnaGuard with one shot after disarming it, in my Battle of Coruscant fanfiction, during the chase scene in the train station.

"The IG-100 Magnaguards were some of the most deadly droids that the Separatists had to offer."
*Laughs in Jedi.*
I think you have to be a minimum of a Jedi master to defeat a magnaguard
Geetsly: magna guards are the best droid
Ultra battledroid: am I a joke to you
HK-47 : *observation* "This is great opportunity for slaughter"
Commando: you both are slow and funny looking.
Yes.
Obi Wan: “You’re the expert Anakin, what would you say those are?”
Anakin: “Remember what you were saying about ‘Worse than destroyers?’ I think we’re looking at them.”
-Obi Wan & Anakin regarding Magnaguards
(Excerpt from RotS novelization)
What I would like in the sequels is the resistance finding a small squad of these droids, reprogramming them, then make the knights of Ren in ep. 9 actually good, then have them fight on that star destroyer (with some actually good choreography) with the transmitter thingy instead of fucking horses, sacrifice themselves and destroy the star destroyer.
This probably isn't any good but still, could be better than the current clusterfuck the sequels are right now
Their appearance in the Clone Wars micro series really showed how lethal these droids are
It is my understanding that the MagnaGuards were the first droid models to be considered for populating the Separatist armies. The only reason they were rejected is because Palpatine thought they would end the war far too quickly.
I wondered why some of them wore cloaks and some didn't. I assumed it was budgetary, but fun to hear they're an honour in-universe.
The cloaked Magnaguard looks sick
Cool. Imagine a army of them.
Grievous traveled with a small army of them. About 100 if the Wookiepedia was right
@@KustomMadeOTK imagine a million of them
@Adam and Eve how bout a million of them🤯🤯🤯
sounds too expensive to make. Plus if an army like that exist the Republic would just stay away from that and bomb it from space. Don't put all your eggs in one basket.
@@vexingrabbit1824 just imagine if they had 10 million of them. Spread them out
In terms of the most terrifying Separatist droids, I’d go with MagnaGuards and/or commando droids!
Hell, you can add some B2 Super Droids in the mix.
Pack of Commando droids would be near death sentence. 1v4-6
Nice, but cutting them in half (top to bottom, not at the waist) will destroy them in one swipe. Granted it was probably hard to get in that position, but still
Definitely one of the coolest Droids ever
Lol if you were a star wars character it would be jar jar binks. Your intelligence is about his level maybe lower 😂
7:06 actually there were a few that could in fact do that. But two of them were the grandmaster (Yoda) and master of the order,(Mace Windu) respectively. and the third was the standard blade instructor for the temple (Cin Drallig). Those however, are special cases and they all make sense.
Another Clone to take down a Magna-guard: X2 from Star Wars battlefront for the DS
Let's consider that a jedi could just crush grevious and the MagnaGuards with the force.
How did the MagnaGuards lose so easily to jedi master fisto’s padawan in general grevious castle?
Magnaguard: Haha spinny spinny Thor staff
Obi-Wan: haha head choppy choppy
Magnaguard: *Haha spinny spinny Thor staff*
Once again more republic commando flash backs them magna guards were so fast
Jedi: *strikes magnagaurd staff*
Staff: *doesn’t break*
Jedi: “FRIK”
@Geetsly's I think the BX series commando droids is a fair but still inferior comparison of the magnaguard's! They are still very deadly, even Clone Troopers have a hard time taking them down!
I will always love the electric buzzing sound they made when spinning the spear thingies
0:04 Tell that to the Battlefront 2 version...
You say that but if you mean the 2005 version: Droideka, Magnaguards, and SBD's are all you need to crush every opponent in a battle that doesn't have AT-TEs
@@AbyssalMerc they didn't even have electrostaffs though... also the AI always deployed Recon drones at point-blank range.
The ai is a bad comparison, a player match of only those three droid types will bulldoze the republic every time
I think it's funny in that one clip how Greivous takes issue with being called a murderer, but doesn't even try to argue against being called a coward
The next video in this series should be on commando droids
"The Republic was lucky that they where never fielded in great numbers" The Republic that literally could have produced Zillo beast armor: "Am I a joke to you?"
why were they "trained" to fight shouldn't they have been innately programmed with these fighting abilities?
They were. But that rpgoraming had t9 come from somewhere. Grievous was reasonable for it.
@@samuelbishop3316 somehow I had not thought of that thanks for the answer
They learn by fighting, thats what make their programing so dangerous
Perfect timing, at 7:17, when Grievous jumps onto the console thing, l get a Joe "Boom Boom" Rogan ad.
They really to make a co op survival mode of Season 1 Episode 5 from the clones wars
I played a clone wars game on the wii and I remember seeing so many magnaguards that were like not really mini bosses but sorta were. Most of my memories are from them in that game and rewatching the clone wars they barely ever show up. They had more screen time in that one game than in the clone wars series lol.

Ye
I do it all the time
Jason Keane yee me
Wow that little gameplay footage literally would have been enough for us to understand why they were a terror, like you said the animations does not do them justice!
consider the following scene : ad comes in
Move faster than any living being, unless of course it’s a pissed off Anakin Skywalker with a lightsaber and room to fight.
The best 👁
Crazy reflexes -
“Hello there!” - CRUSHED
In original canon the droids had some kind of force sensitive electric eal, if i remember correctly
Now that would have been cool.
That is an entirely different droid, that is literally called the Jedi killer droid
*Force pushes a MagnaGuard* See? They ARE pushovers.
I’ll see myself out.
Magnagaurd gets back up “typical human weakness”
Magna Guard pokes Eeth Koth in the back while he is defending against grievous
Geetslys's: So we've established how dangerous Magna Guards are
If I was a sith even a jedi I would always keep a squad of those so I dont have to worry about literally getting stabbed in the back
Magnaguards: Time to die fleshlings! The mechanical race will rise again!!!
Grevious: You what comrade!?
I would have chosen the scene between anakin vs Dooku with 4 yellow eye magna guards on Naboo. I think that had the best representation depicting magnaguards as a threat in the 2008 clone wars.
Funfact: A magna guard with a white cloak was an early design for Grievous.
*ptsd flashes from Star Wars: Republic commando*
Remember how these droids were terrifiying even for the Delta Squad?
Magna Guard:
**No Clone Trooper can defeat me.**
That one Clone Trooper with a rocket launcher:
Magna Guard:
**oH sHiZ.**
Watching with subtitles is comedy gold:
,,[...] made of frick alloy, a lightsaber proof metal."
The moment I saw one of the guards still operate despite getting the head cut off by Obi-Wan, I instantly loved them as my favourite
These guys always remind me of the final boss in the Star Wars Wii game with lightsaber combat.
Apparently the final boss was a prototype “Jedi Hunter” droid that was able to take on Anakin. If those things were mass produced the Separatists may have won the war.
I like these guys in the OG Battlefront II, where they just have a blaster. Easy to kill, but more badass looking IMO
