    If the pump just hums but doesn't rotate to pump I'm assuming it's probably seized bearing or something jamming the propellers correct? Or are there other possibilities? Thanks for the video!

    Thank you for this video! I discovered my hot tub pump (circa 2008) is not turning on - just clicks when jets are supposed to be on. I did have an issue last May when I discovered the tub emptied of water caused by some sort of two-piece PVC “box” joining two segments of vinyl water tubing leading to a footwell jet, which came apart at the seams. The circuit was tripped. I wondered if that caused damage to the system. I suspect the pump is dead, but don’t know for sure (I tried to manually rotate the rusted metal rod between the motor and the wet end, and it’s not moving). Capacitor tested fine. I don’t like messing with high voltage so I haven’t tested the voltage or amps yet, nor the relays. I was planning to pull out the pump to tinker with it, but I’m guessing to test the Amps, I’d need to do that prior to pulling out the pump - is that correct? It seems like I could test the volts on the board as well as the relays with the pump removed. Thanks again for the video!

      Sounds like a fuse. Test the fuse first. Also. If you turn the pump on and hear a hum, could be a seized pump. if you can't move the shaft of the pump, its seized. Need to change the seal and bearing if thats the case.

      @madierose 9 місяців тому +1

      @@VIPPoolsandSpas thank you. I tested all the fuses. All are good (I think - they all showed a value on the multimeter). There’s no motor humming, just a click when the jets “turn on”. I attempted a voltage test on the board connection for the pump, and I feel I did it correctly, although I didn’t see 230 volts - seemed like a lot less and wasn’t steady. I’m not too knowledgeable about voltage meters and electricity though. Might be time for me to check with an electrician!

    Great video. Thanks, for taking the time to make and share. I have an issue with my hot tub. Service guy has been out numerous times and can’t figure it out. The hot tub breaker is tripping immediately as the circulation starts up. And, it’s random. Could run 1 day or 7 days straight; then trip. I Replaced main breaker also, and this did not fix issue. Any ideas?
    Also, how long after circulating pump starts up does the heater turn on?
    Thanks - Rob

      For this type of situation, I disconnect everything one thing at a time except pump 1 (or the circ pump). This will pin point your problem. If you disconnect the OZONE, you'll have to run it until it trips or it doesn't/. Could be anything but most likely the heater element. Sometimes its one of the pump capacitors going bad. The heater will turn on about 1 min after start up. depends on spa pack.

      Appreciate your quick response. If the heating element starts 1 minute after circulating pump, and hot tub breaker is tripping as soon as circulating pump try’s to to turn,would this rule out the heating element? Thank you very much for taking time to response to me. I value your input

    • @VIPPoolsandSpas
      @VIPPoolsandSpas  Рік тому +1

      @@robertholmes1556 could be the relay for the heater also. The only way to test this type of situation is to disconnect one thing at a time and leave it. Disconnect the ozone and keep the tub running. If it trips, it's not the ozone. Then go to the next thing. Maybe disconnect the heater and run the tub until it trips. If it says running for days, it might be the heater element.

    Hi, thanks for your helpful videos on your members channel, I have a hawaii 735L with a Balboa MGS504SZ PCB, I only have 1 jet button but a 2 speed pump, for some reason the low speed pump is not working, do you know when and how this low speed pump should work? Full speed pump and heater working fine until an error everntually pops up the screen, thanks in advance

    • @VIPPoolsandSpas

      Is the pump 2 speed? Check programming. If it's heating but low speed doesn't work, that means it's heating on high speed.

      @VIPPoolsandSpas thanks a lot for the reply, yes the pump is 2 speed, it starts heating up while the high speed pump is working, but eventually when that stops it comes up with either HFL or Lo codes and doesnt hear up anymore, got it programmed on standard mode so the low speed should work quite a lot?

    Thanks for the video. Just today I discovered my jets will not come on. I have a 2006 Hotsprings Jetsetter ll hottub. When I go to turn on the jets I can see the jet symbol appear in the control panel screen and I can hear a “click” as if the board has told the pump to turn on, but no jets. This happens in both jet modes, the regular jet on mode and the 10 minute clean mode as well. Do you think I have a bad pump? Would you know if I could perform your “bonus” test with my set up? Because I also have a 24 hour circulation pump as well for the ever-clean system that’s built into my tub. Thx

I wish I could send you a picture of the circuit board. But I have nothing like what you show. I may be at the mercy of a repair tech to diagnose my problem.

    Great video, Im having a issue that with pump on high speed and heat on it kicks the gfci breaker after about 30 secons. Heater checks out fine with all tests. Pump is new. On these tests when testing for 240v to pump, i have 240 volts going to the pump at both the low and high speed at the same time. When the video says one should be 0. Would this mean a stuck relay?
