      Matt Fixes All hi Matt! Sorry to bother you. I’m getting an OHH code, but water is not heating so can’t be overheating. Any ideas? Thanks!

      @@mattfixesall9000 I can't find a new spa pump that matches the old pump. Can I extend the big pump hose like you did with the manifold hoses.

    Well done! As a thought, I had luck removing foam using a power washer while taking care not to get electronics wet. Thanks again for the video.

    This is super helpful. I think I can do something similar, but I'm gonna have trouble getting the leaking manifold off. They didn't leave any extra pipe to work with, so the only solution I can think of is to saw the old one off and connect the new one with some kind of internal coupler(if such a thing exists).

    Love the vid. Definitely a helper. Can you cut manifold right at flex pipe connection. Then everything is shorter. I’m guessing coupler and more flex pipe?

    You suggest using screw clamps on the upper part. Would it work to use them at the bottom as well, to connect the hoses to the manifold? Rotor clamps are not easy to find right now in Canada and I have 36 hoses to reconnect 😬

    • @mattfixesall9000
      @mattfixesall9000  4 роки тому +1

      Amélie Giguère Morin I used many screw clamps on the manifold side as well. Just be careful to not over tighten on the manifold

    The fittings you used to join the old and new pipe together, are they irrigation fittings? About to do this exact repair this week.

  • @shelltg59

    You could have heated up your 3/4 " lines with a heat gun and put them back on the new manifold. Cutting them all makes for more connections and chances of more leak areas. Only add hoses to the ones that are to short. By the way Master Spa like yours is a great tub .

    • @mattfixesall9000
      @mattfixesall9000  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the comment. Yeah that was actually the first thing that I tried. The old tubes were so hard and difficult to work with that doing the one by one with fresh tube was 100 times easier to get lined up on the manifold. I do agree less connections with anything is generally preferred. No leaks yet :)

    Hey - I think my Hot Tub's manifold got a crack, i saw water spilling from it. Will try to fix this week. I wanna know (by your experience) how the manifold got the crack. I remember that i had pulled out most of the water from the hot tub, only little bit was left in the base, hardly 1/2 inch high....and irrespective, the manifolds will always have the water i feel, So 1) can we drain away the water from manifolds if i dont want to use the hot tub in winters (to save electricity bill)?

    • @mattfixesall9000
      @mattfixesall9000  Рік тому

      Sorry for the delay. I had a baby and a couple other things happen. We could install a drain valve at the lowest point to minimize water. The sun hitting these things when they are empty and then the cooling can create a great deal of condensation which can lead to as much as a foot of water in the bottom of the tub in my experience.

    Like the video! Wondering when do you typically see leaks starting, years 7,8,9..etc? Are there some brands worse then other for leaking? Keep it up!

      Thanks for the feedback! I dont have any good data on the brands leaking. Mine had freeze damage from sitting when I got it, but it had barely been used. So I got to do a lot of repair action. All of which was Muuuch cheaper than a new one.

    That's interesting, I have the same exact issue, my manifold developed a horrible crack, I had drained all the water from the tub, all of it, also to save electric over the winter, I went to fill and use and turned on the man pump and gushes of water, today I found the leak from the manifold, but my manifold looks like it has some kind of petcock on it, but anyway I cleared as much as the spray on foam and it still looks hard to reach, I think I will just call the Hot tub service guy's or just wait till next spring, my manifold seems a little bit more recessed into the tub, was this the way it was with yours, I thought that just draining all the water out last summer would be sufficient and over the summer months the rest of the water in the lower part of the system would just evaporate, so as soo as I switched on the main pump that's when it leaked, but this video helps if I do choose to do it myself, really does not look to bad to do, that insulation crap is a pain to remove that's for sure.

    A few questions. Is it always even numbered manifolds? I have an one with 7. I had a hot tub guy start working on it and he stripped it all and hasn’t been back in months. There was no manifolds so now I’m fixing it myself

    Hoping someone can help. I'm replacing a master spa manifold, 2" 16 barb, but there is a barb on the end instead of a dead end. Problem is, I cant seem to find one a new one, not even online. I was thinking 18 or 20 barb set up and plug the remaining 1-3 barbs, is there any reason not to do this?

    How much for maintaining cost for the hot tub monthly? I just looking to see if it worth to repair the old one that came with the house I bought or just give it away. My husband does not want to repair but I want. So we are discussing about maintaining cost.

    • @mattfixesall9000
      @mattfixesall9000  2 роки тому

      I have been fortunate so far that after my initial repairs i haven’t had to undergo others yet. Filters are 50 to 70 a year. Electric bill is 25 to 50 bucks extra a month. Which probably varies based on what part of the country you are in. Chemicals aren’t too expensive if you shop around locally. Balancing chems tend to last a long time. Bromine and shock for most of the year are prob 40 bucks ish. I buy a small bucket of bromine at a time. Hope that helps the decision tree. Have fun!

    Good thing it isnt a full foam hot tub. What brand is it? Looks like a Master Spa. Its such a catch 22. Full foam helps prevent freeze damage and leaks from occurring but makes it so hard to repair if a leak does occur.Are you considering adding foam. I would look into adding denim insulation like what Vita Spas or Cal Spas uses. If you are in a cold climate. How is the tub working now after 3 yrs.

    • @mattfixesall9000
      @mattfixesall9000  Рік тому

      Thanks for the comment! Yeah the Tub is still working great. No issues! I have almost added insulation a couple times but then the honey-do list got me 😂.

      Hello. I got the manifolds online. Search engines will help you find a good price. I got the clamps at the hardware store. The pvc glue is from the hardware store. The hose is from a spa store.
