  • Maintain your motorcycle or car tire pressure like a BOSS! :D
    See my Revzilla affiliate link below if you'd like to order your own 90-degree valve stems. I make a little off sales but it costs you nothing extra. What a deal!
    The pump is just a Schwinn dual-head floor pump, and the valve head locks on to the Schraeder valve. This may totally obvious to some of you, but I have never used a bicycle pump on a motorcycle or car before, so it was really fun to be able to use this instead of making a huge racket with a motorized compressor. It's also not obvious that one can use a pump meant for bikes on motorcycles, due to the extra volume a moto or car tire has, but it totally works. Anyway, this idea was a BIG benefit to me and I hope the vid helps some of you realize that you don't always need a compressor. ;)
    The good tire-pressure gauge I used is an Accu-Gage H60X Professional Tire Pressure Gauge with Protective Rubber Guard (60 PSI). Here's the Amazon link:

    I'm surprised that it really didnt take much to fill that much air. I'm going to get one now....thx man.

    • @spacep0d
      @spacep0d  8 років тому +1

      @usohot: Yeah, I was surprised by that too. Filling 16 PSI didn't take all that much time, but most tires will only be a few PSI low over a few weeks time. A compressor in most cases is overkill.

    All this time I gave up checking my tire pressure before work, because I suffered the same issue, the compressor is way too loud. I never would have thought to try the bike pump! Thanks for the info!

    Yep, hand pumps are awesome. Of course anyone with trail riding experience knows this. Time for a dualsupermotosport Mr. Pod! :) A 90-degree pressure gauge fitting is a lot easier than putting 90-degree valves on everything you get.

    • @spacep0d
      @spacep0d  8 років тому

      See! I have zero trail or dirt experience. I just totally discovered this on a lark, and by coincidence. Never considered using a floor-pump before because I had never seen one branded for motorcycles and I always had some kind of compressor or gas-station pump. I know, it's hilariously obvious to some but it was a boon to me. :D

    I have that same pump and love it. What I also have, is an air tank that I pump up with my compressor. I then carry that around and top off the tires on everything I own.

      I just watch one of your other vids. I really like your style. It is hard to find MotoVlogers that don't just look and sound like fools. Right? It's soooo minimalist, and as a minimalist I love it. It gets the job done with no charging, not too much heat, no annoyance...totally stealthy even at 2a. I don't mind the mini workout either.

    I thought about keeping a small hand pump for my dual sport just in case a flat happened in the middle of nowhere. Maybe it might be a good idea to keep one of those inside the seat along with a plug kit.

    Off topic. I see Yammienoob had a big one and totaled his Daytona. He's very lucky indeed. He admitted riding above and beyond his abilities. He's got the chance to live and learn which is great. Some of us bikers of course don't get that chance. Tyre pressures though are hugely important, a low or high pressure tyre can have catastrophic results particularly cornering at speed.
    You're bike is still looking tip top. I like your garage, looks like a great work space.
    Ride safe Spacepod
    Peace man.

    • @spacep0d
      @spacep0d  8 років тому

      @SleepingDragon1: Thanks man! Yeah I heard about Yammienoob's crash and even commented on one of his vids. Sorry to hear about the crash but glad he made it through as well as he did. Crashing really sucks, which is one of the reasons I'm so OCD about my tire pressure...and which is why finding a way to quietly fill my tires at 2am was a welcome discovery...even though it was obvious to some.
      Glad ya like the bike and garage. You can see by my gigantic right-side chicken strip that I ride pretty conservatively, though it's much smaller on the left side (I'm just much slower on right turns for some reason). It's a great workspace indeed. It's not a huge home but I've always loved the garage. :D

    • @UnknownProdrive
      @UnknownProdrive 8 років тому

      spacep0d I know what you mean man it's funny how we prefer cornering in one direction in particular. Is the Fiat the Arbarth?
      Chicken strips tell you nothing about a riders talent imo.You could have the biggest strips in the world but on track you may have none. Conservatism is a good thing without it guys of our age mid forties wouldn't be here otherwise
      Peace.

    • @spacep0d
      @spacep0d  8 років тому

      Well-said, good sir. I'm an older rider, but not really one of the bolder riders. I want to live. Plus, I need mah hands for art! :D
      Yeah the Abarth is a FIAT 500 Abarth, their flagship model. It's 160HP, 170 foot lb. torque, 2512 lbs. So much fun.

    • @UnknownProdrive
      @UnknownProdrive 8 років тому

      spacep0d They are great cars I'm a fan of the Arbarth. Very torquey, low weight, I bet she handles like she's on rails man. Good fun drive, in the right hands on the twisties the Fiat could embarrass many a higher power higher price sports car.

    • @spacep0d
      @spacep0d  7 років тому

      I love the silence of a pump, especially since I want the freedom to be able to fill a tire late at night without noise. It's just really easy and convenient, I find.

    • @silentthunder890
      @silentthunder890 7 років тому

      spacep0d that's reasonable. I use both since I cycle as well, but the track pump is a lot of effort in comparison lol

    • @spacep0d
      @spacep0d  7 років тому

      @silentthunder890: If you get a long-tube pump, it gets much easier to deal with the volume of motorcycle or car tires. :) More air per stroke.

    • @spacep0d
      @spacep0d  8 років тому +1

      @four million: From what I've read you generally don't want to lower a bike more than 1.5". You might also be able to ride the ZX-10R as it is depending on your inseam. You only need one foot down (left foot) at stops.

    • @fourmillion1700
      @fourmillion1700 8 років тому

      spacep0d thanks for reply spacepod...my inseam is 26.5in...do you think i can do it?

    • @spacep0d
      @spacep0d  8 років тому

      @Four million: First step is to go to a shop and have them help you stand the bike. Have you ridden before? Do you have your motorcycle license? The ZX-10R is a LOT of bike if it's your first, and if it wasn't your first you'd probably know the answer to your inseam question. I recommend starting with one of the excellent 300-class bikes; the Ninja 300, the R3, the KTM 390, etc.

    Spacep0d i need your help!!! so i bought an exhaust from someone and when i went home and put it on my bike would not turn on. it makes a weird electrical sound and if i try to turn on multiple times the dash screen goes black. i dont know if its the back pressure since she didnt have the baffle which she said it wouldnt matter. i feel so stupid and need help asap my dealer will not help me without stock exhaust and the lady who sold me exhaust usually responds within minutes but she just stopped when i propposed we went back on deal. im very frustrated and sad i can not ride or fix it. might end up buying stock exhaust and seeing if that does anything

      @Adam Stratford (chibs): I run Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tires in stock sizes and love 'em. :D I know the Supercorsas are supposed to be really great and that's what this bike comes with from the factory, but they're a little pricier. Some time I may try them, but I kinda don't wanna get too spoiled either. I'm also not too quick and the DRIIIs do a great job for me...and are good in the rain too (not that it rains all that much in SoCal these days).
