    Battery Tender port kinda cool... but that does not excuse the ridiculous battery placement. If your out on a ride/tour and the battery dies, you'll still need to jump it. It's a bad design. But, I hope you have fun testing the Indian out & keep the rubber side down!

    • @Valentino50541
      @Valentino50541 2 роки тому +5

      I don't know for sure if you are correct or not. Maybe you should do a little research before you make a comment. A battery is a very heavy part on a bike and Indian chose to put it at the lowest point possible. Maybe that has something to do with the great handling of the bike. Do ya think.

    • @brianalbee2881
      @brianalbee2881 2 роки тому +2

      Seeing as i owned a Victory cross country I'll chime in. Yes the placement is for weight distribution but, its in the same spot as what i had on my Cross Country....which i hated that location.

      @@Valentino50541 Thanks for the back-handed implication that I do not think, or do research, since you know nothing about me or where my opinions come from. Great thing is, I am allowed my own opinions, just as you are allowed to make assumptions that you know what a motorcycle designer was thinking and why.
      The fact that one must remove multiple pieces just to access a battery that you cannot get jumper cables on, is very short sighted (IMO which I am afforded as a human). And let’s say that you’re on the road, have removed all the pieces in the way, found a way to jump the battery, now you have to tale the time to reassemble all the covers (or store them somewhere) all while the bike to draining the jump charge you just made.
      Just like the Goldwing positive battery terminal is placed badly, where it is impossible to get a jumper cable solidly connected to; without say, the terminal extender from Traxxion Dynamics. But, just because someone had to make an after market solution to solve a bad design problem, does not mean the problem does not exist.
      I’ve had many bikes over 35 years of riding, and over ½ of that time my bike was (is) my only transportation, i.e. no car or truck at all. So yeah, when I see a design that will cause me extended time on the side of a road with inattentive drivers whizzing by, I’ll put that opinion out there for others to think about. We can all have our own thoughts without putting fellow riders down…
      Stay safe on the road! 😎

      Hi Voices. I have the Scosche booster. It’s very compact and works great. It comes with a set of cables that can be easily attached to the positive and negative terminals on the GoldWing. Cruiseman has done that with his. I can easily plug my tender or booster into the connector at the end of theses cables. It also comes with alligator clips, but they’re not necessary. The accessory pod on the Indian looks like it has the same connector. So boosting or charging should be possible through the pod.
      I agree though… the battery should be more accessible. But my batteries generally last several years. So I could live with an extra 10 or 15 minutes to service it when the time comes. Under the seat is always a good spot if there’s room.

      @@whatsupeh1 Thanks Dwight! I went with the Fanttik T8 APEX Jump Starter - I'll have a look at the Scosche. Being in AZ and riding the SouthWest on my 'daily driver', batteries can be temperamental for me, and do not last long.

    When I bought a Challenger the dealer told me about the charging port. Also, they told me to always plug the bike in when not riding it. For some reason, some challengers chew up batteries. Mine was one of those and I always worried if the bike would leave me stranded. It never did but it had electrical gremlins that would crop up, but could not be fixed as "there is nothing wrong with the bike!" I sold it after suffering for 4000 miles. Hope the Pursuit works for you.

  • @bbgmarine
    @bbgmarine 2 роки тому +1

    The Pursuit has I think 6 onboard computers that create a parasitic draw on the battery. If it sits for extended periods, the battery will drain. Same as today's outboard motors. I have over 4,000 miles on my 2022 Pursuit and love the bike. I traded my 2022 Goldwing Tour DCT on the Indian. The Pursuit is an excellent bike with plenty of power, comfort and tech. It comes with Apple Car Play and I just added the CarLink 4.0 Bluetooth module and now I have Android Auto also. I'm averaging 47 mpg vs the 48 mpg I had on the GW Tour DCT. You will notice more heat from the engine but no where near as bad as the air-cooled V Twins. When my ride is done for the day, I hook up my battery tender immediately. Never had an issue with the bike not starting. I look forward to your review !

    I think that SAE port up in the handlebar area was designed more for powering your electric socks and underwear than it was to jump or charge the battery. Check the electrical specs for the jack and see if it will carry a load of about 11-12 amps.

    • @cruisemansgarage
      @cruisemansgarage  2 роки тому

      I don't think it is for jump starting. Typical SAE ports cannot handle that amperage. But, I was informed that it could be used for a battery tender.

    The battery port is a great idea. I fit one to all my bikes. Heavy battery located low down? Makes perfect sense. As for jumping, in spite of the battery being mounted on the side of a Goldwing, you still can't get a crock clip on the battery terminals. I'm a Goldwing rider btw.

    Put some heat shrink on your extension or get you a Makita battery powered ratchet. It works great and tight spots. There's nothing worse than the metallic sound of an extension making contact with the metal fender.

    Alot of bikes (my Harley and my Indian) have an SAE battery tender pre-wired under the seat or close to it, since that's normally where the battery is. This is the first time I've seen a "port" built in, but thats probably due to the unusual battery location. BTW, if you turn the wheel it would give you more room to work.

    Waiting for your honest review. I am falling in love with this bike. The problem I have is, I love my Goldwing DCT Tour. I can't buy another 30K bike, nor do I have the room. I don't really care for that style bike, but Indian made a wonderful, modern machine that will help to kill the boring , expensive, useless HD bikes. If Honda, later on will not improve the 6 gen GW, I will be moving to Indian. In regards to the battery, its typical to happened on bikes with many computers. This will be the future of riding. If you don't ride, plug her in. I do it 24/7 on my bike.

    Had an Indian Springfield. Jade Green. GOOD POINT WAS ....The HD guys were green with envy.... Then most of the dealers went out of business for Indian. It would cook my right thigh. Suspension made it feel like the bike was going where it wanted to go. I could see the writing on the wall. Set the Indian free to head to someone else's happy hunting grounds. Love my Honda.... However, you have to know what you are doing because if your tender does not pulse the CANBUS...well it doesn't work. So either way, easy to miss if you never had one before.

Every time we stopped, it needed a boost. The Scosche worked flawlessly. I charge it about every two months to make sure it’s always fresh.

    Wow, Indian fell off it's face at the onset, not a good start...I almost got the Challenger, but after much debate, I ended up with a 2021 Road Glide Special...fit and finish vs the Challenger was night and day difference...a year later, I got a 2021 Goldwing DCT bagger non-tour and the GW is just one great bike to own...thanks for sharing, looking forward to your reviews.

    I don't know for sure if you are correct or not. Maybe you should do a little research before you make a comment. A battery is a very heavy part on a bike and Indian chose to put it at the lowest point possible. Maybe that has something to do with the great handling of the bike. Do ya think.

    You only get one chance to make a good impression. Unfortunate for Indian especially as it's a new battery. Also it begs the question why are they putting a new battery on a bike with 5000 miles on it?

  • @Im-a-machine
    @Im-a-machine 2 роки тому

    Not a way for a dealership or the brand (Indian) to present themselves to 40k viewers who could be potential buyers. A dead bike with so few miles, that already had to have the battery replaced? I don't know Cruiseman, are you riding this back to CA? I'd think twice on that trip!

    I'm a fan of the channel, buuuuuuut, not diggin' the click baity headline and title. I mean is it technically true...sure. But could the whole dead battery "issue" have been a 10 second comment in the complete review video, yes. Maybe you felt you had to crank a vid out...not sure. But to me....a firm gives you a bike for free to test, and for all we know the shipper leaves a light one, or didn't put it into the right mode, or whatever, and this is the thanks they get? Ouch!

    They are supposed to be kept on a tender and key fob far away from the bike. it is common parasitic draw. read the manual. it is also online. you didn't do your research. You are not very smart. all this information is in the manual. easy to read stuff.

    I personally think its a terrible place to place a battery. up front just after the front wheels. maybe it's Indian's way of saying hey my battery is not gonna short even if I ride on through a heavy downpour in the rain. I think it's the worse place to put a battery. worse still... why would I sent a motorcycle with a dead battery for review purposes. should have just skip the whole idea. no confidence in a bike of this design and couple with the people who runs the brand having weird ideas of presenting a motocycle with bad battery for review purpose. definitely a no no...
