Just a 'note': At 10:41 into the video, Gibson gave a gift to Les Paul on his 95th birthday even though Les was barely 94 when he passed. How's this possible? Les's dates are 7/9/15-8/12/09. That makes his age 94 for only about 1 month....Hmmmm
@landenpf2010 You are 100% correct! Good catch, now let's see if @Trog has an answer for that, he should've caught it
Love the note, it's cool to know Les Paul himself liked and appreciated a humble model like his The Paul so much
And all the studios. Just a true testament that you’ll always love what plays well and all the frills, bells and whistles mean nothing
@anabolicinsider
My SG is the cheapest version of the SG they made at the time (2013 SGJ). Plays perfect and wouldn't trade it for a Gibson that costs 6 times as much. I did change the bridge pickup and tuners to be fair, but that was only worth it cause it's fundamentally a great guitar and those were the only things holding it back.
I have two of these early the pauls, along with the protector case. Never thought these would sound so good. Neck is fine as well.
2500$ for a the Paul sounds already very much to me. I have two of these. Remarkably nice sounding guitars
The 89 Pre-Historic Reissue that you want to "pay extra close attention to" is actually an '83. Like January '83. I would bet my house that it has '82 pots. Easily one of the first prehistorics made.
you might be right - the photos are a bit too blurry to see the fine details of the knobs. They nearly look like the darker post-84 knobs but squinting enough, they look closer to the earlier ones. I guess we will have to leave it at that until the owner can provide gut shots haha
I love that Les kept so many of his favorites. I wonder how much play time they all got.
Have owned a The Paul since the mid 90s. Great little guitars.
I have a “The Paul “ and Firebrand SG. They are really great, underrated powerhouses!! The Paul has my favorite neck carve and feel
Wayne Charvel’s son had one of those late 80’s double cut Juniors, he let me play it once in Charvel’s Paradise guitar shop. Awesome guitar.
Hey Trogly, maybe an idea for a video: Go through the history of Gibson serial numbers. How and why they've changed over the years and things to look out for. Would be a great resource and interesting to know why they keep changing the format
I emailed Gibson about a month ago concerning the toggle for the mod Shop collection. There used to be a toggle that would allow you to see guitars that have already been sold. I haven't gotten an answer back yet. I'm starting to wonder why they removed it. Who would that benefit? It not being there, I mean..
That 2001 studio had a beautiful top
I have a '91 Studio Lite in Heritage Cherry Sunburst that was a birthday gift from my wife about 10 or 12 years ago. Great neck, but the factory 500T/496R ceramics were a little too hot for my tastes. Swapped them out (but kept them) for some covered 490T/490R Alnico II pickups and now I have "the sound". She's got some dings and things but I play her every few days.
I love that color ! I’m looking at a new standard in the same color and gloss finish . They’re absolutely beautiful !
@rockinrob2004 Thx! I just figured it was a typo on the collection site, but I'm surprised they didn't catch it...lol...As much as he knows about Les Pauls, I'm sure Austin could put together for us a good Les Paul biography.
Les had a awesome collection.
I finally found a Firebrand that is unmolested, chainsaw case latches feel new as well.
Oh ‘78 the Paul. Do like those.
A neighbour had one of those. Great player.
There is one for sale here in the Netherlands. They ask 2000 euro. Crappy pictures and no info. Neck pickup is white so not the original T pickup.
A local guitarstore had one some years ago. That one was 1250 asking price. If only I had the money at that point.
My Epi LP Special is more recent and has separate bridge and tailpiece
I got it used
I believe it was a dealer exclusive
(And I am in Canada)
I love Les Paul. A truly amazing man and legacy. But seriously, all he had to do was hoard a pile of guitars that he probably never played, and these bone heads pay 5 to 12 times more than the top of the market?
Crack is a hell of a drug.
The embosed covers are rad!
I have one of those LP JRs with the ABR style bridge, its my birth year guitar :D 1991, even found one within a month of my actual birthday :3
His son RUSTY Paul was one of the STRANGEST cats I ever ran across...He was on his own planet AND THERE WAS NO RETURN TO EARTH
So , was that good or bad ?
'84 Tobacco Burst Custom for me, beautiful indeed.
Those US 1,s with the stop bar is so cool would love to find one of those babys 🤘👍
Same here. They are gorgeous! I'm surprised they were not put in bigger production.
When was the first cardboard boxes used for packaging a Gibson?
single ply binding headstock les paul with sparkle silver finish , anyone know whats model is..? or custom made or something?
I'd take those Tim Shaw pickups and put them in a Gibson les paul standard or a 3 pickups version
The US-1 looked so cool.... 🤘👍🎸 Even they went into Schecterland...🤔 Or Ibanez Roadstarland?
Does anyone know if Gibson made any lefty Firebrands? B)
The dreaded fret nib gap. that sounds very Gibson like.
Needs to be a t-shirt
@@frankwebster9110HELL YEAH.
i have a 90 classic they are custom shop quality instruments
i have also a 96 plus top yamano Custom with a insane top such a great guitar
Man the m3s really look like being a kid (late 70s ealy 80s)
cool dude...
I have a '91 Classic all gold...
Nice!
I had one & sold it around 95, didn't really know what I had
@rockinrob2004 happens to a lot of us at some point.
I'd love to see the fire brand logo on some modern models.....bring it back Gibson
If i sent pics..... what would you charge me to tell me about the les paul I have?
Evening all!!!
4:25 fun fact Jerry cantral us one on would? músic video
What do you think about a 2016?
Hey, my guitar!! Nope, my MIII is '93, but red too. The toggle is for mode; single- buckers split(screw coils?) and single coil engaged; and normal humbucker. Literally Strat tones cause 3 singles happens.
There is another one on Reverb in Sunburst. I love the Les' guitars series, and your ability to recognize production year by spec. is uncanny. Hail Trogly!! Ü ♫
I'm jealous. Just so ya know..
Shoot the guy an offer on the Sunburst, it is local pickup, but if you're near Cheswick, PA...@@frankwebster9110
Seems gibson gave Les a lot of grief considering he helped create some of their most sold products
84 custom 😮
Ikr
Many assumptions made, for an expert.
I have several M3s and fell in love with the ceramic pickups and electronics. Then I found The Les Paul M3, I like the neck on these better and went nuts and now have 6 of these. Oops, also have 5 Studio Lytes still with 496R and 500T like the M3s. Tried to get all the colors on all of them. Got a 79 The Paul, plays great very, very plain looking, have all the colors of that. LOL.
yes......yes...yes.
I'm not positive the shop was honest with me.
You sound a bit tired, Trogs. Take a day off for you and the fam! :)
Hello there

M III electronics rule. Nashville bridge intonates perfectly. Ebony fingerboard. True Work Horse.
Good show today. It helped counter-act the sleeper Mod Shop this week. At least it was for me.
Woot woot Trogly's guitars 🎸 🙌

well Les Paul is my guitar hero because he invented the guitar i love and play for 47 years, but boy did he know how to screw a guitar up big time at the same time. fact!! i guess he just liked to mess with perfection but created abortions
Z is for late and retired
G'day Sgt
