MAAAN the way you present it, the way you put all the footages, the way you talk, the thing you taught, everything deserves more than a sub or like! Love your vid man!
this is one tutorial is one of the best, quick, simple, without any unnecessary info, like how delete default cube :D, and easy to understand. please give us more.
Thank you so much! I love the concept of saving people time as long tutorials aren't for everyone, I've always preferred the quicker more direct ones. Definitely more tutorials like this on the way! :)
If anyone else is having problems with the vertices not following the plain axes after some more fiddling with the movement of them, you can press the reset button on the hook midifier in edit mode, that fixed it for me. Amazing tutorial, very nicely edited, clear instructions and everything, thanks a bunch!
Thank you!! I needed it for an animation I was making but couldn't find any tutorials on it so I worked it out and thought I'd share, glad it helped! :)
For Stage 5 about catching the cloth, Select both empty and Cloth, the go to Edit mode, Select the vertex, and press ctrl P to parent Empty to vertex, then as the simulation goes the empty will follow that vertex so you don't need to animate the Empty. Hope this Helps, I just tried it out and it works
Thank you so much for your comment! I've tried it and it seems potentially like a really cool option to use. I haven't tested it enough to see how well it works with other animations and pins but it's certainly something I'll look into!
An above average youtube tutorial! Thank you! Have you considered animating the deceleration curve while catching? Like animate the hook to match the speed of the cloth, catch it with the moving hook, and then slow down to get a more natural look.
Glad you enjoyed the tutorial! And thank you for the suggestion! I think that could work quite well, I believe I was creating this for animations where the cloth needs to stop more suddenly like someone catching it, but if a smoother motion is needed then decelerating the empty absolutely I think could work! :)
Video is awesome! Just one request, just before clicking onto any menu item or any such UI item that disappears after clicking, just hover over it for a sec so we see whats being clicked. I had to rewind the part several time where you add the first 'plain axes'.
Holy shit you are a life saver ! I thought there was no tutorial like this one and I was ready to spend a few more hours trying to do that sim in Houdini, but here you saved me a shit tone of time ! Thank you so much
Thank you for the suggestion! I've mainly done weight painted clothes instead of simulated ones so far, but if I start working on it with sims I'll be sure to share. Thanks for watching the video! :)
Thank you so much! I've always preferred quicker tutorials that I can pause and rewind wherever needed instead of longer tutorials that I need to skip through, so I decided to make them that way :)
Clean tutorial definitely deserves a sub and thumbs up. I could kiss you for helping me figure out an easy solution to my crappy cape/cloak simulation. Thankfully looks way more like I wanted. I just needed to pin the cloak in another area, will definitely play with the empties and hook animation later since yours looks so cool!
Thank you so much! :) I haven't tried it for making a knot, if the knot is already tied it may be easier to sculpt the knot as a mesh then attach the simulated cloth to it. I'm not sure how possible making a simulated knot would be as it would be a much more complex collision
Great tutorial sir! Keep it up! But I have one question. Can you tell me plz, how I can bake all cloth simulations to keyframes, to do slow motion effect. Thanks.
Thank you for your comment! :) I used empties as they are just a single point for simplicity, and it can just be parented to bones, and even jump from one armature to another in the same animation

Excellent workflow, is there a particular reason for using Empties instead of Bones?
Thank you for your comment! :) I used empties as they are just a single point for simplicity, and it can just be parented to bones, and even jump from one armature to another in the same animation
