@@kohank5938 It did. And it isn't the retreat itself, or the evacuation, that bothers me. It was a military sound move, and it probably won the war.
It is the fact they spin it as a victory while claiming the others who fought and died for them are cowards. My grandpa lost a leg and his brother covering the British retreat, but was still called a coward by British soldiers after the war.

AGREED! There were three (four really) times i was like USE IT!!! The Zao parked broadside, the Cleveland broadside, and then twice on the repub... though had he used it on cleav he couldnt have on the repub (atleast when behind island and repub was broadside, second time may have reloaded/cool'd down to use again when 'pub came back out around island broadside).
But alas, even without that, phenomenal damage output.. .and why over time, the little guys (he spamming cruisers.. though he did get good AP results as well!) can be much more dangerous than the big guys can in short spertz.
Oh yea< and the Shima at the beginning, he coulda wrecked it much quicker(or, by not using, gotten wrecked himself had things been different).
Moreso than the damage that he gave to others, he also lost out on some kills.
He didn't have relaod booster. Its an old replay. look at the reload times of the guns.
The fact that everybody can technicly damage anybody is what kept me playing World of Warships.
I bounced out of World of Tanks very quickly after playing games were being the bottom tier meant that I was litterly useless to my team. I couldnt scout (city map), I couldnt tank damage (armor just not good enough), and I couldnt do damage (even loading the gold wasnt good enough).
I dont understand why people find it fun to be at a huge disadvantage 50% of their games and then the other 50% you can roffle stomp other players cause you are the top tier.
In World of Warships you can always do something. You can be usefull for your team. Even if you are only spotting tier X's with a tier ll.
And there is no "Pay to get an Advantage" ammo in World of Warships. Although there are premium consumables
It does suck in world of tanks, but I like being at a disadvantage. Makes you think more, and more bragging rights when you do win as lowest tier. That's my opinion though.
I'd be interested in what mod you used to get you 50% top tier games in that train wreck they call WOT.
Well, when you get good results despite the bad MM, it feels great. Some of my most fun games when I restarted WoT last year were when I got in a very tier 7 game in my Churchill I, and still did decent/killed some T7s. Now, imo that isn't worth it overall, because you get shafted more often than blessed (and there are definite improvements that could be made), but still I don't have the same beef with the matchmaker that a lot of players do. It's just good and bad games, I've had amazing games bottom tier, and frustrating godawful games top tier. Sometimes I do well, sometimes I suck, regardless of tier spread. That'll still happen whatever WG do with the matchmaker.
Even with the premium consumables don't run you out of house and home threw debt. Cause even without premium time you will always run a profit even slapping on all the premium consumables.
yep....hate to say this but ships in WoWs are MUCH more balanced then tanks are in WoT

The moment I'm detected I get 4 or 5 ships firing at me so I'm not sure how some people get away with going so long without being shot at.
same mindset of wot"reward system" maybe, damaging a lower tier = less credit/exp than equal tier or higher tier.
back on wot when i still play, most of the time my priority target was always higher>equal>lower tier when i use thick armored tank like st-i or hulldown t30 unless the gun on the lower tier are more dangerous like paper TD from german tree line or autoloader
Pretty simple. All those uploads you see on youtube with their monstrous damage numbers: They're no usual results. Sure, the players do a good job. But they also require the enemy team making some very "questionable" decisions. I constantly get results with more than 100k damage from tier 5 on, sometimes even at tier 4. But I've yet too get such a monster game. That's certainly partly due to my lack of skill, but also to such games being pretty rare in the first place.
Im a ok player I guess the max I have done is 179K but that was like only once
you need both teams to be bad, but the enemy somewhat worse. thats the enviroment monster damage games happen, otherwise its just a roflstomp.
I mean, not being targeted for so long is very rare. Positioning helps, but in this case it's nothing more than combination of me getting lucky + enemies screwing up
Yamato - best guess is that he either tunnelvisioned on someone else or jsut didn't see me as a threat
Shima - had already dropped her torps elsewhere
Zao - shot me (quite correctly), but due to Baguette Boost he missed. Then, I may have been out of range for him, as well as him getting quickly annihilated
Conq - was already busy and I was "behind his back"
GK - was already busy, altho in his place I would have switched "to the cruiser"
Cleve - saw me plinking away at GK, opted for more dmg on BBs, when I oppenned up on him he panicked or whatever, and screwed up as a result
Republic - well, you saw what happenned
I'm glad you don't show replays of dudes intentionally damaging their teammates.
Anyway Congrats to willkatis_LV for being 2nd place in most damage inflicted.

Love Jingles’ caveat at the start of the game. He failed to suggest that a-holes can send their videos to Claus Kellerman, who only shows a-hole games.
I've been working off-shore for 6 weeks, on the North Sea. Come back home with lots of Jingles videos to catch up on... but can't seem to make any headway! Seriously, by the time I catch up, it'll be time to set sail, again!

He also had a 10 second reload, which would suggest it is a pre reload boost Martel in which, he didn’t have reload consumable. Either I haven’t payed attention to patch notes, or it’s a ui bug

Ahoy Jingles! GJ promoting good sportsmanship with that atlanta example at the beginning there. Just wanted to say; I play on the NA server and have over 160 ships. NONE of them have priority target, rpf, or that skill that tells you when artillery fire is incoming. I consider those 3 as noob skills. I'm not saying I'm great, but I play off my skill alone, without giving myself a handicap. It doesn't always end well, in fact it usually doesn't end well, but I do take pride in knowing it was my skill and intuition that led me to victory or defeat, not a gimmicky add-on.
Incoming fire is useful on a DD. Saved my bacon plenty of times

Well... Priority target give you a clue when Torps are being launched at you.
If you see that number go down and then quickly go back up.... you can expect incoming torps more often than not. That a pretty valuable clue to be aware of, for a single point out of 19 of them.

Where the heck do people find these BB drivers who repair one fire and just blunder about, letting cruisers burn them to death? Where!? Where are they hidden?
Joking aside, this was good stuff. It’s a classic example of how even a T8 ship can perform superbly in a T10 game. Hell, I’ve carried teams in my bottom tier Baltimore, smacking a full HP Minotaur with two huge AP salvos right at the end to secure the win. The ship matters, but the player behind the ship matters far more.
It is not so strange that a lot of BB drivers complain about fires, if this is how they play. ;)
In all seriousness though, there are those who do it right, and about as many who do it like this. The last group seems to be people who have no idea of the different game mechanics. I wouldnt be surprised if most of those did not know about captain skills either(would kind of explain the 2 midships fires on a tier 10 BB).

And yes, while a lucky t8 can carry don't forget that it can be also oneshot (just like the Republic so kindly demonstrated it)
You can't do much against fire at all. Had 3 fires.... used repair.... few seconds later had new 2 fires started at me. And i had only overpen against the enemy. Made me quite the game months ago.

The word you're looking for is deliberate. Purposeful implies 'with purpose', not 'on purpose'. It's also quite clear that the Atlanta's aim was deliberate: if he'd messed up deliberately the fumble would have produced a full broadside.
To be fair, I don't use priority target on my cruisers either, I use the one that tells you when you're actually being shot at, I don't care how many ships are looking at me, I assume all of them are, I just need to know when they start shooting!
And.... Actually Jingles, most Republiques or Kurfurst who go for secondary builds cannot afford the Fire prevention skill, and this is the second most important reason NOT to go for a secondary build at tier X as it is usually not worth (you are way too big and clumsy to get within 11 km as easily as a Bismarck down at tier 8) and makes almost impossible to avoid double fires...
Potatoes are gonna potato, and I'd love to enjoy secondary builds, but right now, they are not worth at tier X because range, maneuverability, and fires...
Secondary build on GK is quite a lot of fun. Republic just doesn't have the armour to make it work :D

But what I claim is that it is not good, among other reasons because it is pricy on points and hence no fire prevention. And yes, if I had to pick one BB to make a secondary build, I'd chose GK over Republique...
I find most High Damage games on youtube have the common theme of not being shot at. I want that mod! lol. Good job to the player in this video as he did do the work.
The guns of a tier 8 cruiser are roughly the same as the guns on a tier 10 cruiser of the same nation... *Laughs in Moskva and in HIV*
The Charles Martel was also largely aided by the tier 10 battleships behind him; they didn't sit in the back and snipe. They pushed in hard. Still, well played.
I would really like to see that Atlanta commander come into comments now and publicly apologize for that. Come on, whoever you are, man up. You were stupid twice (doing it, and then sending it to Jingles), show that we, the salt miners, at least own up to being wrong.

Did the guy even apologize to the destroyer that he shot, in the game, after he shot him? Because if he didn't, I don't buy his story of a sensitive mouse. Yeah he could have one, they do exist, but so do assholes who do things like shoot friendlies for a quick laugh at their expense.
Good video, congrats to wilkatis_LV. To backup what was said about our protagonist not being targeted that much, his potential damage was less than 500K. From my experience, in a similar situation, I typically see 2 to 3 times as much at the end of a game.

French cruisers are alot of fun
It's a pretty good line to play:
t4 - BB with smaller guns (to know what I mean - park her next to some BB. Hard to find a t4 BB who isn't smaller lmao
t5 - pre-nerf she was amazing, but since WG nerfed her - not a clue, probably not
t6 - literal machinegun with some really bad firing angles
t7 - an all-round all-right CA
t8 - aboslutely amazing
t9 - worse wersion of t8
t10 - it has it's moments, the RB nowdays is amazing on it
You just need to know how to effectively use each ships playstyle. Because trust me if you play the tier 10 like you would say... A German cruiser(Hindy in particular) you will not have a fun time of it.
It's a really fun line of ships. I stopped at the Charles Martel though. Seen enough of the Saint Louis and Henri to know that there really is no appeal to getting them. At least for my play style. The ship stats are pretty much the same as the Martel as well with the exception of some armor upgrades that are given due to being a higher tier. I really enjoy the Martel though. I still play it a good bit and always do well despite the MM. I was not shocked to see this video at all. It can hold it's own in tier 10 match ups.
Give it a go, but do not expect those results. Remember what that single hit did.... and know that that is a very common affair with French Cruisers.
Can't wait for Legends to launch on consoles. I play WoT, and it will be nice to come over to a situation like this for a change, where you don't have any gold ammo, don't have to buy any ammo, and you can deal damage no matter what tier you are.
Waaaaaay too restrictive with his reload booster...
That Shima and that Zao at the beginning could have died way earlier and to me that was kind of dangerous not to use it...the shima could have torped him and if the Conq and the Zao gave him a look...he would have died there.
Make sure you use such consumables as much as possible....such as to get to 0 by the end of the battle.
Also he should/could have used reload booster after the enemy just put out the fire...
Good play (with a lot of luck though) all in all, but missed out some very juicy additional dmg there.
May be he didn't notice it was there. I sure didn't myself the first time. It is difficult to use it effectively if you lose sight on the target or if your turrets can't follow, on Henri IV, specced DPM module, turrets are so slow that making use of the consumable requires you to go in a straight line or be stationaly behind an island.
You are not using it effectively if you are not trying to use it mate ^^ that's the only way you may not use it effectively....
If your game ends with still 4 reload Boosters untouched....you were too restrictive....it's that simple.
And turrets not following is not really an excuse....you should always be able to have at least 2 turrets pointing in the direction of an enemy...
All in all, don't be afraid to waste it, and you will get used to the consumable and it's effective use very easily.

I at least use 2 effectively per game, one or two are wasted because either I lose line of sight (thx DDs smoking up when I call effectively shoot at their nemesis) or because I'm forced to maneuver hard. But yeah, when used at proper moment, it can be very punitive to the enemy.
I mostly use it when there is a DD nearby that needs to be killed or when a cruiser or low health BB are giving broadside, I rarely use it for just keep starting fires. I prefer to keep it for when I need it most, I don't want to be caught with no MBR available when I would have needed it.

My old laptop loaded stupid slow and I would get into a game late, usually resulting in people accusing me of being AFK or idiots doing damage to teammates. Thankfully I've purchased a new PC and no longer have this problem. I have a new respect for those who start 30 seconds after everyone else.
Jingles i know you like to be reminded that your'e old and crap but everyone is making the same mistake, The main battery reload booster on french cruisers start at tier 7. Had a double strike today because of that with the Algerie, plz don't change ;)

ahhh brings back the old days when you could put together a "Fail" division..one of my favorite things to do was division up with the tier -II Umikaze with buds in tier X ships.. so much fun torturing tier IX and X ships! Bagging Yamato's is fun!
I think that first friendly fire was an accident. He jokingly fired at the water near him but forgot to consider splash damage.

This very thing was discussed in the forums. On how a tier 8 does not stand any chance in a tier 10 battle. Though the discussion was about an Amagi. I still argued it is more about the situation and the players involve that make the game. Good Job.

In all honesty, the Atlanta doing team damage looked accidental. I see people often shooting at the water (and around teammates) at the beginning of matches, and the Atlanta was clearly aiming at the water. Only for rngesus to decree that the HE shell to cut through the water and do a DD-citadel equivalent underwater hit (engine breaking).
I'm more concerned with the ragewagon lynch mob in the comments calling to publicly crucify him and reaching about his character!

I had a jerk teammate shoot me for not giving him smoke when he demanded it. He didn't even need it at the time.
Bruh, i had a gadjah mada unleashing a full torp on me cleveland at point blank just because i don't have radar on.
While I can understand a mistake, here's the thing: Why aim there? Why even point your guns at a teammate and fire? You have the ENTIRE open ocean to dump your shells in. The sky. The islands. Why shoot anywhere near a teammate when you don't even have to be looking at him? You don't aim loaded guns at the ground your friends are on and hope the bullet doesn't ricochet, do you?
Just don't do it. It avoids issues like this entirely. Can't risk anything if you don't do it in the first place.
Why the hell do you like "shooting at the water around teammates"? At least you are irritating them, and you also have a high chance of hitting them. It is stupid, juvenile and annoying. He deserves the flak he is getting.
Good on you, fine sir! Excellent PSA at the start of the video. I report that kind of unsporting behavior whenever I see it. Well, except for once. I saw a guy sink a teammate near me so I asked "Why the teamkill, buddy?". He replied, "He torped me twice, deliberately". I said, "Report him", to which he replied, "Don't have to, I sunk him". So I figured that since he was just trying to teach a life lesson to a less fortunate player, I didn't report either of them.

Long time Lurker Jingles. Thought i would comment about how much i loved the intro about not being an asshole. Really good seeing you address it and not put up with it even if the battle was amazing.

One the first things any new warships player needs to learn is to fight higher tiers. I learned using my t1 going against t2-3's..as you say..ship happens. Best to be ready as the rudder hits the water.
Charles Martel was a quote unquote big Carry boat before they added main battery reload booster. Now it’s even more dank after, Charles Martel is the ultimate big carry boat even in high tier matches like this one.

It's entirely that easy if you don't get shot at. He lost 90% of his ship when somebody finally noticed him and sent a single salvo his way. If he'd come under any sort of sustained attack at all, for example by the Yamato he was sailing right in front of in open water, he'd have died with 20k damage done.
No, not really. Yes, the game would have been much worse, but still would average somewhere between 50k and 120k, which is what I mostly got.
Of course, being ignored helps a lot. Enemies repairing single fire helps even more.
Jingles, I've never used that "Alert! Somebody is aiming at you fool!" skill on any ship at all. You don't really need it if you are able to check the sky for incoming shots and the direction of enemies turrents every few seconds and combine this with the information on your minimap. So for players that are very good in multitasking it's wasting points imho.

A tachibana at tier 8 would actually be pretty dangerous. That thing is a micro sized target, fast, and has a tiny detection range. It would most definitely be capable of getting within 3 km of a battleship and hitting it with at least 2 torpedoes.

In Blitz (conveniently fun), the tier difference is only 1. My belief is whoever is the Captain...gameplay and teamwork, and patience is key for victory...cheers from the colonies!

Not using the reload booster is no surprise at all. It's so situational that the French cruisers got a free nerf for almost no benefit. IMHO.

I've been wondering just what the big deal is with the priority target skill anyway. I started playing long before it was added and made do just fine without it, I have always been a shell magnet from day one of playing so I always assume that if I'm spotted, someone's targeting me. I've seen people talk about it like it's the end all be all of skills, and yet I have no use for it. I could see it being useful for a new player that's learning how things work, but so many experienced players seem to think it's so amazing. I just look at the patterns of incoming shells and can usually tell not only how many ships are shooting at me, but what type they are as well. If you play long enough and pay attention well enough, you tend to learn firing patterns of different classes, how many guns various ships have in what configuration, and even ammunition type gives you information about what is shooting at you. Example, you have rapidly repeating salvos of AP coming in, it's probably a British cruiser, you have high density salvos of HE coming in, but at a slower rate, it's a slower loading 152mm or 155mm cruiser, likely a Mogami in 155 trim, constant streams of HE with low density patterns, it's a gunboat DD, etc., you get the idea. It just seems over-valued by the playerbase for what it does.

This, this is why i play wows and not wot, always being able to deal damage and/or spot/cap for your team really makes the game more fun, and not getting shot at by invisible tanks in bushes that you have no chance of seeing because your tank is stock and your crew is 75% trained.
Not using priority target's a bold choice indeed. I put it on everything I play, even things like my Conqueror.
I never shoot the people who take a long time to get moving because I assume it is taking them a bit longer to get connected. I do honk my horn at them though as if they can hear me.

I actually never take priority target. I don't see the point in knowing how many people are going to be shooting at me if I'm spotted, it doesn't affect my ability to dodge the incoming fire at all. Plus I also operate under the assumption of, that if I am spotted, I am getting shot at. So I'll always be pulling evasive manoeuvres.

Well that is a Charles Martel, the one who arguably can challenge Henri IV's position before the nerf.
One thing about that shot is that I don’t think it actually hit, or if it did it was a grazing blow. Me and my platoonmates often shoot behind each other as a goodluck trick.
Did damage, thus it hit. Afaik splashes can knock out modules, but wont do damage to your HP

I've actually had some of my best games, being bottom tier in Warships. The way I look at it is the same way Doom 2 speedrunners did the map "The Chasm" you have to LOVE the matchmaker, and only then will you start to see the benefit of being bottom tier.
Now it surely helps that the ships I tend to play and enjoy work really well in their tier, like Charles Martel, it is the T9 just without the rep. The rep that let's face it, isn't going to do a whole lot for you anyway, you are still made of tin foil.
But, being bottom tier comes with another advantage, you are bottom tier, a smart opponent is going to prioritize the higher tier and theoretically more dangerous ships, as long as you play smartly and don't just make yourself an easy target. Even myself, if I'm giving the choice of shooting at a Charles Martel, or a Des Moines, I'm shooting the Des Moines, the Charles can wait.
The main issue is people HATE being bottom tier, and they will throw away perfectly good ships because they for some reason think being 2 tiers lower somehow makes them useless, even though it doesn't. What makes them useless and thus have a bad game while bottom tier is their mindset. They need to love the matchmaker and it will reward them.

My average kill count overall is really low, I never go fr them particularly intentionally. There's always a flock of seagulls behind your back ready to swoop in and take it Kappa

Hm, i never got that much luck in my Atlanta getting into a tier 9 game and they would ignore me.
It's more like, i got detected and the next second 10 ships got me as priority target and hell brakes loose.
But it was a nice game to watch and i totally agree with your decision on the atlanta replay
