Symphony of Science - 10th Anniversary Tribute
Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 вер 2019
- Celebrating 10 years of remixing scientists with a mashup of my earliest work. It all began with a goofy remix of Carl Sagan I thought nobody would ever see - I had no idea what I was doing or where I was going, but I was having fun. The response blew me away. I owe everything to you guys - my deepest thanks to everyone who has followed along on this weird and wild creative journey and made the whole thing possible.
I kinda cringe at the quality of those old videos, but the spirit is much the same, and I hope you dig this little nostalgic trip back through the past decade.
I always thought my dream job would be a musician or film composer. But this trip has taught me that filmmaking is where my passion is strongest. Exploring the endless possible synergies between visuals, music, sound, and thought will keep me occupied for a lifetime. I am slowly phasing out the use of auto-tune as I gear up for the next phase in this creative journey, which will be to deliver truly mind-bending, sensory rich experiences that explore the frontiers of human knowledge.
This journey is just beginning. Big things are in store. I would love for you to join me for the next 10 years.
Follow along for more deep thoughts and deep tunes :)
Peace and love,

Can't believe it's been 10 years. Thanks for being a part of this wild ride with me. To be honest, I can barely watch my old videos - they are so amateur compared to what I'm working on now - but I hope you dig this nostalgic trip through the past decade. Any questions? Thoughts?
When are we getting life beyond ?
Will you remake timelapse of the universe in 4k?
Always amazed at your content!
You're awesome
Feels like yesterday I saw the first video man I’m 17 years old and u convinced me to give science a chance and then u kept me going for physics all my life kept me intrigued and honestly don’t know where I would be now without you, studying physics at college and theoretical physics at uni.
Just as the physicists admire us to look further you admire us to try and keep us going because of the effort you out in for us
This gave me chills. As a current phd student struggling with depression and felling a bit disillusioned about how science is actually performed these days this reminded me of the pure excitement and wonder that inspired me to start this journey and that resonated so deeply in your symphony of science videos. Thank you so much for their creation. I have been watching for quite some time, I know all the words to a few of them and most of the words to the rest. Now to go watch them all again. :)
Keep it up girl! We are one
United we are
what do you mean by "how science is actually performed these days"?
@@sebastiannunez4943
Scientists today are all too often obsessed with publishing as many papers as they can in order to get recognition... this leads to a situation where they can't all be verified through the rigorous testing (and the attempt at breaking) that science needs to prove ideas.
+
Try to not confuse science with survival. We all appreciate your contributions to science and understand your need to survive. Ad astra per aspera.
I have discovered you in 2010 when I started my PhD. Your music made me feel so proud to be a scientist and listening to it, I felt like a part of larger community, of people in awe of nature and scientific method. I may no longer be a scientist by profession, but I will always remain proud of this community. Even though it has its faults (quite a few, I think), people of science continue to inspire me.
Thank you for bridging this gap between science and the arts.
🙏🙏 well said

I really appreciate your thoughts, I want to be a scientist too though I'm just 14 years old gonna be fifteen this year, I want to go to the beyond I want to see the unseen I want to do it now cause our life is limited it's very short, there are lots of things that are still need to be answered
So I want to experience it at a young age

We are made of star stuff. Never forget that my fellow humans.
The places we have been and the things we have seen, (or the atoms that make every one of us), have been is staggering. The distances those atoms and molecules traveled over eons of time. And then where will our bodies constituents eventually be? Our sun will eventually GO BOOM and thrust everything out and about once again.

10 years already? It just shows how timeless your work is. Congratulations!
How ten years have flown... I remember hearing "A Glorious Dawn" for the first time one night in late 2009. I was so enraptured with how you'd created something that expresses such a love of astronomy, science, and, of course, music. Over the course of the following year - the most turbulent year of my life - listening to these remixes helped more than I can say. I remember sharing one of them with my aunt one day when were stranded in a motel in California, and even though I'm sure it wasn't really her cup of tea, she could hear the beauty in it... Ten years later, I still get excited about whatever new upload comes out. Long story short, thank you so much for your work!
GOOSEBUMPS on my GOOSEBUMPS.. I'm sitting in the breakroom at work trying to hold back tears. Such a beautiful remix of the last 10 years
You're like the pink floyd of space stuff.. I love it.
"Symphony of Science" is, literally, my favorite music album. "A Glorious Dawn" being my favorite song.
S.o.S. is how I discovered Carl Sagan, his works, other great and fantastic scientists and my love for science. It all started with these inspiring, knowledgeable, intricately deep and musically amazing videos. Thank you melodysheep, without your work my life would be profoundly different.
Man I remember watching A Glorious Dawn and a few others for the first time in my 7th grade middle school science class thanks to a really nice science teacher I had. I believe it was around the time when you released the quantum theory song. I got home that night and listened to every single one you had put out and have continued to keep up with them over the last 7-8 years. Crazy how fast time flies, I'm in my 3rd year of college now. Thanks for all the work you've put into these man, and all your remixes for that matter. Best of luck for all your future endeavors my man
That was about the same time that I approached John Boswell (Symphony of Science) about going to schools and sharing his videos with science students as a non profit. John kindly agreed to let me share as long as I gave him credit of course. I wanted and needed some financial backing to start but never was able to come up with the funds and went to work for someone (the man) but my daughter was about your age at the time also. We watched the videos together and I saw how it affected her AND MYSELF. I wanted to share symphony with EVERONE your age because we need smart people in the STEM fields. I hope you are doing good, she's in her 3rd year at university to be a veterinarian. SCIENCE SCIENCE SCIENCE :D
Last semester I showed some of your work to my astronomy professor at my college and he loved it.

@@matthewdent1160 I was 19 lol I feel old
I was 17. The earlier songs give me high-school nostalgia!
@@Flyingtart Yes, me too! I was 15 and shared it with absolutely everybody I knew, teachers, students. The teachers all sucked and never played them, despite showing us the documentary that a SoS video used as source material, like David Attenborough's documentary Charles Darwin and the Tree of Life where he says, "All life is connected. And it enables us to construct with confidence the complex tree that represents the history of life. Our planet, the Earth, is as far as we know unique in the universe--it contains life. Here plants and animals proliferate in such numbers that we still have not even named all the different species."
I squirmed along as I loudly narrated David Attenborough because I knew what he would say from listening to the Symphony of Science on repeat for about 7 months at the time. To prove a point to my teacher that she could have also played a 3 minute video that was way cooler than her lame "science" songs that tried to make science look "hip" yikes
@@Ruintheus Hahah, I've been thinking it too. If you want science to seem cool enough to win over a few uninterested teenagerss, you should start by playing a SoS song for them. I have a friend who would sleep on the front row in science class, but who watched Sagan's Cosmos after finding this channel.
I just found your music a month ago, and I've listened to it on repeat for hours at a time. It's the most hopeful, worshipful music I've heard since I abandoned Christian superstition two years ago. Please never stop making this music.
Welcome to the Universe, man!
Welcome to reality!
Damn! It's been a decade already. Just came in to check what this channel has been up to and found this. Your remixes used to occupy my playlist in my pre-high school days. And I am still able to listen to each of it with same excitement I had when I first heard it a decade ago.
It’s crazy that your songs mean so much to me but they’re so beautifully grounding yet so optimistic xx
Woah you've gone so far and I hope you keep growing! I really love your videos!!
My daughter is 13 and grew up listening and watching all of your Symphony of Science videos. She can sing along with them all. They will forever be a part of her wherever she goes in this world.
Found your channel a couple years ago - Pure awesomeness! Thankyou!
I'm really glad you're getting all the praise you deserve, your time-lapse of the future left me speechless
Love your work so much you gotta continue it I wanna see more
Keep it all up!

Your creativity always blow up my mind !
No one had mixed between Music and Science and Space!
And the clips are incredible well done in everything cheers man
Been following almost the whole way, absolutely love your work, thank you so much for the amazing music!
That original video was what got me interested in astronomy and science in general; your series has significantly shaped who I am over the last ten years. And for that I cannot thank you enough!
I cant tell you in words ,how much i loved this track, thankyou
The Joy of Discovery was the first video of yours I watched and it had a profound effect on me. It was a dark place in my mind at that time, and I often struggled to find meaning for my existence, and that video specifically helped me come out of that place. A few years later I was talking to a friend who was in a similar state and was contemplating ending himself, and I couldn't seem to break through his apathy until I showed him the same video. He said it was the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen, and the overall message was the first thing to make him feel anything in months. He's still around, and doing much better, so hey, you can add saving lives to the list of things you've accomplished. Thanks for all the wonderful music.
20 seconds in and i already have chills! this has made my week, thank you Melodysheep!
Symphony of Science was a lot of what I listened to when I was younger. I'm glad you are still doing what you're doing.
At the first quote I got chills. I can't believe it has been *_10 YEARS ?!!_* MELODYSHEEP, You were literally the first channel I subbed to and became a regular of. Hearing Hawkins at the start made me pause the video and smile. It's like 10 years full circle. Thank you for enlightening me 10 years ago and for continuing to inspire myself and millions of other Melodysheep around the world 🌎 👽 🚀 🌙 🌞
Amazing work, your work brings science to life!!!
Keep up the GREAT work. I still look forward to these. Thank you.
The quality of that old videos are great, i always listened when i was in college, now i finish my career in physics and Symphony of Science inspired me to never give up in my science career.
Will you remake time lapse of the universe in 4k?

I always loved these videos.
Awesome work! Again and again 🌌✨
Thank you for your work! It's a regular on my playlist to this day. Science is amazing and here's to another 10 years of discoveries!
I knew today felt special!
I've been listening for a long time. when my first child was born I would play symphony of science because it sent him to sleep with abit of dads singing.
When he turned two he got really into quantum world, he always pulled a surprised and excited face each time it was played.
This tradition carried on to my second child and it still works everytime, I even have mum playing it.
She forgets and underestimates the power of symphony of science every, single time.
Thank you who ever you are you've been a big impact of mine and my families lives, being a musician myself you out do yourself with each song and it shows.
So once again, thank you X 3.1415926535

I stumbled upon your work years ago and it changed the way I look at the world for the better. My curiosity and enthusiasm for science is greater thanks to you.
Thank *you* for making some of the highest quality content I've ever watched on UA-cam.
I love each and every piece of your work !
I bet Carl Sagan is watching down on the Earth each day, looking if melodysheep has made him sing again ♥️
Carl Sagan would be laughing at irony here, he was a atheist.

10 years ago I was a teenager, and I remember having chills watching your videos, listening to your music... you were part of what made me love and have such fascination for the universe and the science of how reality works! Thank you!
I don't know how or why, but I got goosebumps all over my body and tears in my eyes. I love mashups and I love everything you make. A melodysheep mashup is the best thing ever. Thank you thank you. I look forward to an amazing new decade.
When you become one with the Universe, you want to understand and open your mind to all the knowledge you can. You feel Gratitude and Respect for Mother Earth. You Respect the Power of Earth's energy it releases. You realize how little we are in this big universe. Seeing the last picture of our planet taken by Voyager 1 in 1990. Named the family portrait by Nasa. Earth was a little blue spec, so tiny.
It made me put everything in perspective. It made me want to try and make a difference in this world. We are all equal, we all live on Earth, let's make the best of it.
Me: "This is going to be good, but I don't see how it could be better than-"
