If you look closely that rubber mat was not all the way under the entire quick jack making it not evenly flat, it wasn’t the humidity or heat it was simply poor placement of the jacks it was just enough offset for any tug to rock the jack as it did
Agreed. I have a quickjack, the ZL1 add-ons adapters and an ats-v (same basic chassis). This was user error all the way. When properly used, the quickjack should actually be safer and more stable, especially on cars like this that don't have proper lifts points for both jacking the car up and then setting it on stands.
Your video did influence me to get the AWE touring version non resonated. I hooked it up this weekend and words do not do it justice. It was like night and day the sounds, the extra power, back to the sounds. The factory exhaust was so quiet, I couldn't hear the down shifts, the burbles, or much of anything. Now it is so much fun to drive and the head turning is so noticeable as others here me coming through. This one is in the sweet spot. Not crazy loud but, just right. I am happy and can't wait to drive it whenever I can!
I think it's nice to have others who appreciate more of a "tuned" sounding exhaust that is deep and adds actual performance than an obnoxiously loud raspy exhaust that could be heard miles away. Good to hear the family is doing well, and glad to hear you didn't die this past week! Many Blessings.
Those lifts and jack stands should NOT be on rubber mats. They need a solid surface. Lay down a 3/4 inch or better sheet of plywood if you need to protect the floor.
Besides the scare that you had I’m glad you made it out! The Camaro sounds so much better! And the exhaust looks amazing. This made me decide on going the same exhaust
I have AWE track edition but for my 17 5.0 and honestly I always get complements on it and its just so loud it pops and crackles best exhaust you made the right choice
FYI I'm here from a future video about this: Quick-jack... a previously super expensive scissor lift that could lift your 4,000lb vehicle but randomly decide not to is now $3000 rather than $15,000. I priced one out years ago, and thats what the price was to barely lift my 5,000lb truck, with a max of 6,000lb lol I've been around heavy trucks before, working with my dad on 3/4 and 1 ton trucks and heavy farm equpiment. Where if it can't lift 2.5 - 3 or 4 tons via a bottle/floor/ or jackstand, we don't buy it let alone have it under a truck. I've looked again in 2023, its only $3,000 for a 7000lb "full frame" lift. Funny because my Dakota has a 131" wheelbase and thats small compared to the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks we've owned curb weight at 7000 and run up to 11,000lbs with 142" WB.
I have a set of those quick Jacks. I have had zero issues with them and had them for the past five years. My Dad's 65 mustang he used to have sat on them for a good 2 or 3 months straight and never had anything be a concern. But anything can happen. Glad your safe and bad ass camaro!
My buddy Devin was always a car guy.. he was almost finished with his C10 twin turbo LS swap truck.. He even had a 2 ton lift in his driveway and always took precautions. Last year on Easter Sunday, his family member came over for dinner. They had an issue with their suspension. His lift had a project on it already and his driveway was full so he grabbed his floor jack and jacked up the car to take a look real quick. Something happened and the jack slipped. Car fell on him and he ended up passing away while his family was all inside having a good time. They came outside and found him dead. He should've used a jack stand along with the floor jack. He was only 34 years old. *ALWAYS USE JACK STANDS AND TAKE PROPER SAFETY PRECAUTIONS*
My car slipped off a jack itself while going up. I now have permanently mounted ZL1Addons pinch rail blocks and Quickjack 5000 with the extension bars.
Same thing happened to me with my crew cab gmc Sierra while rotating my tires. But I wasn’t under it. Crushed the jack stands and the jack. Harbor freight jack stands and aluminum jack. Upgraded to 6 ton jack stands and 3 ton steel jack now. 😂👍
Glad you were saved by the stands. I looked at a lot of options for my home shop to lift cars, including QuickJacks, and in the end went with a full-sized, ALI certified, lift.
Glad you and the fam are feeling well. I really missed watching last week. Uh oh, I feel an 80's song coming on..........don't know what you got til its gone.....
Been using my Quickjacks for over three years. Never a problem and have done engine and transmission swaps. If only using the blocks provided.. I only lift from the frame. I prefer lifting from the pinch welds for more space. Quickjacks make specific pinch weld blocks. I’d highly recommend getting those. Lol
Yup, rubber mats and the left Quick Jack was off the edge of the mat (@6:23) at the front inside corner..... Not really sure you can blame Quick Jacks on this one....
Did the k-member recently on my fox on my quickjacks. Shook the hell out of the car those rubber blocks don't move at all if centered on them. I have to agree it's the mats those quickjacks are on.
Wow that was lucky! I have the same AWE exhaust and also LOVE, LOVE it! Mine sounds even better with a stage 4 cam! Looking forward to the new spoiler install.
I’m exhausted just watching this video. I just paid $150 to get my exhaust swapped. I could, and have done it myself, but I guess I’m just getting older (and richer).
Super stoked you had FOUR stands underneath. A lotta folks will only use two. But either way, now that you’re not dead by way of the Camaro, cam that thing out!!
That was a scary shift. When and where did you place the jack stands? There are quite a few scenes of you guys going under where it appears that there no jack stands present. I didn't see any 6:22 to 6:24 nor 7:14 to 7:28 I see two in the distance down at 7:33 that are down and do not appear to be under the car and then right as the shift happens at 7:37 you can see two larger stands but it is hard to tell where they are located or if they are even under the car but they definitely are not touching the vehicle before the shift. I'm curious did the pinch weld bend over or did that contribute to issue? I have been using the QuickJack pinchweld blocks (on top of the medium blocks) for a few years and have never had an issue. But I am lifting a much lighter Miata.
I can add to this.. i got AWE touring black tips for my 18 WRX and the exhaust quality is great and those diamond black double rolled tips are best quality you can get!! Now you need some reworked heads and a bigger cam!!😈
There was an episode of Powerblock where they smashed headers on an engine why it was on the dyno. They actually picked up power (weird). I doubt that pancake section has any appreciable effect on the flow. That quick jack is pretty freaking cool though. Might have to look into one of those

Thats so scary! I have the lift jack pads and I think it takes me much longer to just make sure the lift pads and the rubber blocks are centered when i lift my camaro on the quick jack! Definitely need to ensure that the lift pads under the car are centered on the rubber blocks from the quick jacks! Glad nothing major happened and you are ok!
Yeah, I’m super paranoid, when it comes to my car falling off , I tend to keep it on jack stands if I’m under it and will also put a tire as a last resort safety measure is the car falls on that and not me

While I have yet to use QJ on my ZL1, did you use the tall or shorter blocks when it slid off (I think my QJ came with 2 sets)?
The shorter ones actually. After reviewing the footage the car actually moved very very slowly for two hours. It was scary to watch. After two hours it finally gave way. Blocks are now in the trash
@@LonestarHawaiian I've always been scared of the QJ doing just that, try not to leave it in the air overnight unless needed.
