I started using hair grease on my natural hair last year and it has been amazing. After trying every natural oil on the market and still having dry hair I decided why not try hair grease. Its the only thing that keeps my hair moisturized for 7 days and gives my hair shine. And your hair looks wonderful!
Im just baffled by the way people are SO SURPRISED it works. We were raised on that stuff. People get so caught up by being "influenced" by all these new oils and creams, lotion and potions! Smh people really need a reality ✔

I am 55 and greese made my hair grow like crazy .... what we did was always greese at least once a week for dryness .... my hair was healthy and long....
I'm so confused as to why we ever went away from this. Logically, I always knew that grease would be best for some, especially if you're protective styling precisely because of the petroleum. So many of us had long, thick, healthy hair as children and our mom's were all about grease and Luster's pink! It seems like the things that changed the most as we got older were our hair care practices and chemicals, when our products really weren't the issue in the first place . I'm all for progress, but let's not forget where we came from , especially if it worked. The issue with petroleum is that moisture can't get in, but it is the best at maintaining the initial hydration and moisture in your hair in the beginning. I have highly porous hair and this has been the only thing that has maintained moisture for weeks on a time for me. Not even shea butter is this effective. I think people's other issue with grease is that you have to use a sulfate shampoo to remove it completely. I disagree, as I've had success with many types of shampoos in removing grease. But if you're someone who believes in Co washing or very gentle shampoos, then no, this is not for you. Personally, I'm glad that the pendulum is swinging back towards the balance between natural and unnatural products. It means that the doors are open for people who cannot afford $20 for a sealant to try being natural because of the lack of judgment and the affordability that we are advocating now. It's awesome if you're someone who exclusively uses natural products, but I'm glad that we are more accepting of everybody's type of natural now.
I went out and bought some...And OMG!! My hair loves it!!! It came out sooo curly , shine and very defined..And has great hold..This braid out will last me atleast a week...Girrrl thank you so much!!! ..I have spent so much money in the past on natrual hair creams, butters, curl enhancers. And none of those products gave me results like this! ..
Blue magic is the GOAT. I have a friend she’s a dark skin woman with luscious thick long hair mid back waist length and she uses blue magic. Oils her scalp with and all.
My mom used this same exact grease on my hair as well. It didn't harm me then and it won't harm me now.Petroleum is found in the earth, so essentially it is natural, because it naturally occurs in the earth. The molecular structure of grease is too large to clog your follicles. So it would be fine to use on your scalp but it's ok to use other oils with better nutrients because petroleum doesn't have any and Our parents used it on our hair back in the day, we just have a tendency to follow other bandwagons and forget where we started from. BTW-Your hair turned out beautifully. Now you reminded me that I need to go to the beauty supply store to pick up a jar. Thanks
I use this on my hair and scalp and my hair is thriving. It works for 3 type hair as well. Who ever said its bad is full of shit. Think about it back in the 70s they didn't have all these so called natural hair products. Grease and water was all they used and people had big beatiful afros. I tried using just creames and oils on my scalp and it left my scalp dryer than before. If you grease your scalp use very little . I grease my hair and scalp only once a week and thats on my wash days and my scalp and hair stays so moisturized. I think the only reason they tell you that grease is bad so you can buy them expensive ass products that don't do shit for your hair .
Ginger Bingmon I think so! Before my mom ruined my hair with relaxers and other crazy products, my hair was so long I could sit on it! All she used then was blue magic, water, that sheen spray on top. It smells good and doesn’t make my hair feel dry. The only thing I do different now, is condition with cholesterol, and I use castor oil.
Ginger, true comment. The creams and stuff had my scalp itching just by putting a lil on my hair. The products have so many synthetic ingredients/emollients. Simple is better.
Yesss!! I use the coconut oil blue magic and ever since I started back using it, my hair has grown out a lot!! It also makes my styles last a lot longer!!
Let me just say this. The only reasons why grease got a negative rep was bc it came from an unsustainable source: crude oil. Crude oil comes from living organisms of the sea/oceans that have died and have been under lots of heat and pressure from layers of rocks. Therefore, if you ask me, it's very much a natural product. But, it's not sustainable. It takes many years to make crude oil, so we can't get it back quickly after using it. So "green" companies tried dissuading people from using it bc it's not sustainable/eco-friendly. It actually performs well (as you've experienced) as an occlusive (keeps moisture in/ does not allow water to evaporate out) that has a low comedogenic rating (0 to be exact) meaning it doesn't clog pores.
My mom used this on my hair wayyyyyyyy back in the day! I started back using it about a month ago and my hair is so happy and hydrated. My hair looks better than it has ever looked since going natural 9 years ago. Not to mention I have less breakage and more growth! My hair staples are are few these days. I was contemplating relaxing until going back to BM!
Excellent! As a child my mom used blue magic and my hair was long and strong. When I got my first perm, that’s when I started having hair problems. I think as long as you wash your hair thoroughly afterwards, it shouldn’t be an issue.
Yup..I have that blue magic right in my bathroom!! That throwback never fails. My mom used to use it too for every style and my hair was super long when I was a kid. It keeps my girls hair moisturized too. The best.
Chiiiie, my mama put pink oil and blue magic (the blue the green the coconut) and that hot comb and my hair grew! It was so long. When I got older I stopped using that stuff and my hair fell all the way out lmao. So now I went back to using blue magic and my hair has grew back 💚 this stuff works wonders for my hair.
My mamma greased my scalp with castor oil or dax grease, used pink oil moisturizer on my hair and braided it up. Washed, conditioned with Lekair cholesterol AND BLOWDRIED it every 1-2 weeks in sections/knots. Hot comed 1-2 times a year for special occasions (Easter ect). Hair was to my butt with no ssk's! Yall, it's time to get back to basics. Ijs. 😑
I've been rediscovering the wonder of hair grease for months now. My mom used it a few times when I was a kid, and she hot-combed my hair, but I didn't use it until more recently because I've been natural for a long while, no heat application or anything for the past few years, just braid and twist-outs and sometimes wash-n-gos. I'm mixed and have 3B hair in its natural state. For these months, I've been alternating betwen Softee coconut oil and Softee mango butter, first applying a super affordable Olive Oil hair dress product (Lusti Organics, I think), then small dabs of the grease, brush out my hair, braid or twist and I've been LOVING the results. I used products over the years which were so much more expensive than the dollar pot of Softee I've turned to, and it did nothing for me. Then I started learning more about grease in the natural hair world and decided to give it a try. I'm SO glad I did!
I used some on my daugther's hair this weekend and her hair is still curly and manageable. Old school techniques work. They only reason I tried because I was out of oil, it works so good for her twist out.
My neighbor who is older mentioned that she started using Blue Magic on her hair again and I'd purchased a couple of jars and so far I love it. My hair stays moisturized longer than before. Since I wear wigs most of the time, Blue Magic is a lifesaver for my hair! Also, I use it on my scalp as my mom would when I was younger and had no problems with my scalp getting clogged. And it's cheaper too!! Great video and thanks for your honesty!
I think if a person has high porosity hair then grease actually helps as a great sealant, the melting point and boiling point is very high as well and that makes it a great heat protectant, hence the reason why we used it to press our hair back in the day..... I don't remember anyone having heat damage back in the day lol.
Mony E Thats very true.I was just telling my mom that.Whatever my mom did to my hair back in the day I’m going back to.My natural hair was flourishing as a kid and was always so moisturized. Now that I use Shea moisture and shit my hair is so dry.
I may try it, just to try it. What really helped my hair grow was Kemi oil back in the day. I am very green so I love organic olive oil. The other secret is for moisture is filtered water(topical and internal). Another secret is just to leave your hair alone in a protective style. My hair is lap length or tailbone length. The third secret is to eat pure, whole organic foods. You can get a high quality organic cold press olive oil from Wal-Mart for $4.14(or about). It can also be used on your skin foe beautiful soft youthful skin at any age.
my mama always used grease on my hair and my hair was always super moisturized, thick, long, and healthy. when i decided to go natural i stopped using grease because that’s what ALL the natural hair gurus said to do, so i did. since then, my hair is always super dry and i have to constantly add oil to it throughout the day. my mom still uses grease to this day and has been natural for over 15+ years. one day i grabbed some of her blue magic and put it on my curls and OMG 😮 when i tell you the definition, the softness, and the shine on my hair was unlike ANYTHING i’ve ever achieved with the tons of natural hair products i’ve used over the years! even when i want to do a sleek bun or ponytail, all i need is grease, water, and a brush and i’m g2g!!! it’s safe to say i’m ditching all these high end natural products and taking it back to my mama’s regimen! it may not work for everyone but it DEFINITELY works for me! thanks for the video 😘
You tuber nappy nazzi has a lot of hair. She uses grease all the time. Your hair looks beautiful! Natural products too expensive! I'm went back to grease.
I love your hair results. I have no problem with hair grease. i have no with petroleum. I have seen that it works very well on my hair and my daughter's hair. I agree that my hair problems started when I started coloring my hair and putting perms in my hair before that I had no problems with it just using water and Blue Magic. I tried a blue magic twist out it worked fine and all you have to do to remoisturize your hair is put water back on it. U don't have to apply more grease and the grease will still work. U do have to use a clarifing shampoo every coupla weeks. But i have no problem with that.
Us returning to the old standards (grease, castor oil, jojoba oil, etx) gonna put a lot of hair cared co.'s & beauty supply stores out of business. There's just way too many products out there making claims and most are just a lot of chemicals. Sorry but all those chemicals that you can't name are better than plain old petroleum? That's why folks have no hair. I think there was a campaign to disparage petroleum/petrolatum when the hair care industry wanted to make more money and take folks away from the ingredient basics which just happened to also be widely available and fairly inexpensive.
Blue Magic is wonderful. My hair is naturally dull. I've tried so many natural hair products that promotes shiny healthy looking hair, but my hair doesn't look any better. I have been using any and all products that my mom used on my hair and the products I used on my girls hair. Just as you said before about your mom using water with it, after you use it on your hair once, use water to reactivate the grease. Honestly, my hair always produce better results when I use what I know. Great video!
I use hair blue magic as a sleant after I put in my leave in and it works for me. I dont put it on my scalp but it doesnt weigh my hair down and its cheap, it great. 😃
There is nothing wrong with blue magic. My daughter’s hair almost waist length and I put that on her hair and scalp. I just washed her hair every week. It locks in the water that’s why it grows well retains moisture. It’s nothing wrong with that.
Blue magic is where its at!! You are just beautiful Miss. Lady... you did a great job! I regret dropping hundreds if not thousands of dollars on natural products! I will use my own common sense when it comes to hair and do what works not go along with the hype because that's what these natural products are about nothing but hype - They did nothing for me but give me a headache!
Right and we all had beautiful hair back in the day too. We didnt have all this new mess. Heat protectant "who" and I got my hair pressed on bvb the regular with blue magic. And my hair was way down my back.
Lol I got some grease from amazon and tried it out on one section of my hair and when I tell you I was shook 🤯 because the results where 10x more defined and silky than putting a ton of gel on my hair. I can’t stress it enough how I’m excited to have grease back in my life. Not to mention my hair only took 1-2hrs to dry vs a whole day🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
we all got the same story, when my mom used grease and water on my hair as a kid my hair was long and healthy. once i got older and started experimenting was when my hair growth and health tanked.
I starting using the blue magic and Dax again a few month back and my hair love them. My hair is moisturize for days. I have high porosity thick full coily 4b/4c hair. Finding a product that moisturize, smooth and define my hair is not easy. Back in the days, we didn't have all these products and our hair flourished. I'm using less products now and I went back to the minimal products I used when I went natural. And , my hair is getting healthy, longer, moisture and strong. Less is more
I went back to Blue Magic about two years ago. I love it, but I use other products a well. I am moving away from my product junkie days and just sticking with what works for me for my 2STwists: Blue Magic with water, Aphogee products alone, or I will use Aphogee leave in conditioner with Eco Flax seed/Castor Oil and seal it in with a little BM to seal. Love your vids.
It seems when I went natural and using natural hair products my hair dry faster. I have to continue to wash and wash every few days. I am buying this today.
When i was young they put it on my hair and scalp and my hair was natural long and my edges was thick, so im not buying its bad anymore ,i got all these shea moisture products and i could be saving coins
I’m 69 and I forgot that my grandma used to use Sulfur8 on our scalp and Dixie Peach or other hair grease. After years of spending thousands of dollars on natural hair products. I’m going back to basics.
I am using grease in my hair.. I have HIGH porosity hair.. my hair can't keep moisture in even if its life depended on it.. and find ONLy grease can seal in that moisture and keep my hair nice and supple
I’m going to try old school because my hair is naturally sandy brown so it always feels and looks dry even with the natural products I use. I love the results you got and it looks shiny and bouncy
Been using blue magic for a few months now. My ends have never felt better and my hair stay moisturized. I'm sticking with it. Also I haven't had a hard time washing it out. #bluemagicatitagain
jhibblerablly agree Im starting to wonder why we were told to stop using it especially since the products on the market often have the same ingredients
I really appreciate that you gave old school methods a try and broke another natural hair "rule". When I was growing up, my mom used Ultra Sheen grease on my relaxed hair. I went back to natural 10 years ago, and tried all kinds of oils, butters and creams. But I was still buying grease for my husband and son. About 6 months ago, I decided to give grease a retry. Why? Because I was unhappy about how dry and bleh my hair seemed, even though I was using all these products on it. Now, I use water and Softee Indian Hemp to moisturize my scalp and blown out hair. My hair is softer, my scalp is happy and my routine is way less time consuming. Plus, my pockets are incredibly thankful, because a $1 jar of grease lasts over 30 days. TFS!
My granny used it on my hair growing up and I had BEAUTIFUL LONG HEALTHY HAIR, honestly when I got older and stopped using it is when my hair took a turn for the worst. ❤️😍
I third that fact , my hair was literally falling out and shedding because my hair was so dry and oil was just sitting on top of my dry hair , sealing in more dryness. Now I’m back to grease my hair is THRIVING!
I just went back to the Blue Magic Coconut Oil version. I bought it because I was out of everything and on a budget. I have a mixed bag of tricks when it comes to my hair texture. It’s mainly in the 3 type, but it is dense. The back is more loose and loopy. The top and sides just do their own thing. I knew just using conditioner wasn’t going to get it. I combine it with my Cantu leave in and my hair feels soft and moisturized. I do feel the need to shampoo more often. So I try to go light. And as you mentioned, I don’t put it on my scalp.
feeling that nostalgia? back in the day i was in Africa and i don't think they used blue magic on my hair but they definitely used hair grease of some sort and my hair was flourishing!
We allowed people with hair different from ours to tell us how to care for our hair. All that ever caused was damage. There was nothing wrong with methods we were using, and we need to go back to some of those methods to ensure the health of our hair. Back then all you needed was shampoo, conditioner, rollers, and grease. A pressing comb was only used for special occasions.
I like how the smell brings a smile to everyone's face. You instantly can see their childhood flash in their minds lol✨😊💜 Your hair turned out gorgeous!!🙏🏽😍
I just started using blue magic on my hair, like just recently, and it works SO well. I'm shook myself, LOL. I use it to seal in the moisture after using a little water and a simple, affordable olive oil hair dress product, the Lusti line. My hair's never looked better, the perpetual dryness I used to suffer from is pretty much gone.
so true!! I used to get my scalp greased with this and the indian hemp and my hair was always long and healthy back then. I think I'll revisit this when its time to restock my products. When I use it, I'll use a moisturizer or leave in first, then apply this because I read that petroleum ( and mineral oil) seals and locks in moisture.
Hello my name is shaunta Jackson and I just started using blue magic grease. Growing up my mom did my hair with blue magic and it feels good on my scalp. Its never greasy on my hair.
I saw your video the other day and decided to try it. I too remember using Blue Magic as a child. A aunt damped my hair once and applied Blue Magic and my hair was laid. She was the only person to ever do that to my hair and I never forgot. WELL - back in the day don't apply to me TODAY. This was a fail for me. You said that those were your individual results and that's the truth. I was very thoughtful of the amount of grease I was putting on my hair. I absolutely didn't want a greasy result. WELL - no matter how thoughtful I thought I was, my hair was TOO greasy. A moderate amount of this stuff is too much for me. The twist result was beautiful but just too greasy. I couldn't live with it and tried to wash it out but I couldn't wash it all out! After about 4 or 5 wash attempts that included my favorite shampoo and also clarifying shampoo, Blue Magic is still in my hair. I gave up, because I didn't want to dry my hair out with continual washings, but looks like Blue Magic protected my hair from drying out, because it is still coating my strands. How do I know? After a rinse, I work my hands through my hair and there is still grease on my fingers. When I grab a glass, my fingers slid along the glass. I now have a clay mask on my hair and I threw out the jar of Blue Magic. I wanted to try. I did. I will never do that S@#% again!! I was tempted to go for dawn dish washing liquid to get it out, but I know better. Your hair looked beautiful. I am glad it worked for you. FYI - My hair is in the 4s, a combo of 4a and 4b I think.
🤣🤣🤣 omfg.😂 I'm sorry Ik ur results were terrible but the way u describing it is so funny! I'm dying laughing rn. But in all seriousness I'm sorry you got such a terrible experience 😐....that you had to reach for the dawn😂 but really tho that sucks☹️ some people seem to like it and some don't. Kinda scared to try it🤔 anyway hope you got the grease out🙃
There are tons of greases out there. Blue magic is probably the thickest of them all. There are plenty of lighter greases out there like the Softee line or Nature's Blessing.
The only reason I stopped using mineral oil, cones and petroleum based products many years ago is because after a week or so my hair would get really dry, frizzy, feels heavily coated, greasy and dull looking. I don’t like to wash often but with these products i would have to wash more frequently than I’d like. Plus since these ingredients tend to heavily coat the strands I can’t properly moisturize during the week because it feels like I’m just layering product on top of product without the hair absorbing anything. This explains the dry, dull look.
My hair was thirsty every night. 🤦🏽♀️ I started using the blue magic I’ve had for 3 years and my hair is moisturize and my curls are bouncing. I don’t need to moisturize ever night. ❤️❤️ no shrinking either
what$2.99,y'all better hit family Dollar for $2.35 a jar,my hair always been super thick and coarse my mom used it on my head and I'm 57 and I am natural going on 5 years,it worked for me than and still do,my hair love it.
I love hair grease I gotta have some type of pertoleum mines.i used I have very long healthy growing hair when I was younger.there was no flatiron diffusers or anything like that I used a hot comb and a simple curling iron no trims after my hair cut or no nothing and once I switch to trying these different oils and purchasing a flat iron I noticed that my hair stopped growing and the texture did as well.so I'm going back I the basics man forget this.
No one mentioned it but my mom use to use Sulfur 8 in my hair and it was always long and thick ☺️. I may try the Blue Magic; I can’t see the harm if I don’t put it on my scalp.
Blue Magic has lanolin as the second ingredient. Used with water, lanolin is amazing to make one's hair soft for days. I use is BM because of the lanolin and my twists outs are soft, shiny and lasts for days. Love Blue Magic!
@@thefactsaccordingtogabbie149 Hey there! With regards to applying moisture to my hair, when I twist with BM I sprints a little water, apply product and then twist. I think the product actually keeps my hair moisturized and conditioned. Do a little research on the qualities of lanolin. This may help you understand how it works to retain moisture. Good luck!
Greetings "D" 😊 Excellent video!! I've Been natural for Three (3) years (big-chop; half inch short). I currently use Aussie Moisture conditioner, Blue Magic for my hair (2 stran twist) and Olive Oil for my scalp. My hair is now 15" long. Praise Be! 😇 Blessings to you ❤ I LOVE "BLUE MAGIC"! #thankyouforsharing #thankyoufortryingit #yourhairislovely
I think it’s time to go back to the basics!!! I remember my mom using the same thing on my hair when I was younger! Hair used to be laid!!!! This is so bomb!!! Just gave me an idea!!.
I use blue magic hair grease and I have been wearing my hair natural for fifteen years and I love it my mother used on my hair as a child and I stuck to it and I grease my scalp once a week with it every week and I spray my hair with water and grease the strands of my hair with the blue magic hair grease and my hair is waist length hair grease don't clogg the pores and it doesn't clogg the hair shaff either that's a bunch of lies they're saying black folks used to have long hair back in the day now they need to get back to grease I don't care what they say about it I'm not going to quit using it ! I have long beautiful hair I have lots of our black woman asking me how did I grow my hair so long I tell them blue magic hair grease and water that's it .
I just recently went back to hair grease because my hair was looking dull and dry. Since I started using grease again my hair looks black, shiny and feels soooo SOFT! The only downside is that it make my face shiny. 😩 I don't even use as much as shown in the video. Any tips?
I was talking to someone and they shared that alot of these so called pricey products are just gimmicks. She had tried so many products, went back to hairdress and fine textures can use it, just use less on damp/ wet hair. I doesn't clog scalps / pores either. A light amount is needed, helps some ppl with volume.
For people who have thinner hair texture there are lighter hair greases available. We also should wash our hair & scalp. Hair grease never failed us growing up. Making lots of profit off of natural hair is the main goal with all of these product lines from these companies!
Really cute results. Would I try it? No lol but only because grease for me attracts so much dirt that I don't even feel like that build up. But I'm a firm believer in WHATEVER works so if thats mustard on your hair who cares long as its healthy and cute.
I use the yellow blue magic grease the hair food and it works wonders I stopped using grease on my hair once I went natural and my hair was breaking and wasn't growing so I went back to my root literally 😂and started using (grease) it again
Who makes these hair rules????? Can THEY hold a press.conference or something? Because my mama would like to talk to them about what does and doesnt work for textured hair. LMBO
Love V05! I use the Moisture Milks Moisturizing Passion Fruit Smoothie Shampoo & Conditioner. The conditioner works amazingly well for such an affordable product.
I'm watching this again because I couldn't remember if you used a certain technique. I love how simple this is! My mom used Long Ade on my hair & scalp, no water though, and my hair was not only long, but healthy. I'm feeling like my hair is missing something, so I'm going to give good 'ol grease another try. 💜
I guess what I don't understand is, why we bashed it so much even though it had our hair long ASF as little girls. My hair was down my back too and all they used was grease and gel on my hair
Yesssss!!!! Blue magic is the bomb...I grew up on it and it actually grew my hair...just bought it again to start using... Your twist out looks amazing 😍
My mom used to call it "Bubblegum Grease". I used this and the Indian Hemp version on my daughter's scalp and hair, and she Always had thick, tailbone length hair. All 3 of us still have jars of this grease in our bathroom cabinets, though we don't use them. I guess it feels like an old familiar safety net. Lol. Thanks for sharing
What I think happened is that alot of us had perms for a very long time and when we went back natural (as community) we kind of put everything from that phase of our lives in the same category of being "bad". . .like I had natural hair up until I was liiiiikkkee 15-16. And then I got a perm. No wait I got my first perm when I was like 5-6 but I grew it out. Anyways alot of us got perms really young. I think everything is going full circle and having natural hair is the norm now so the hype is dying down. Now we're like picking up old practices that works. Imma go get some grease today. . .well if I can lol
I like old fashion 60s crisco and water on my hair and it works. I don’t use conditioner anymore because the new hair stuff has my hair dry. I used water and blue grease because my old ass dad has only buys Murray’s and blue grease. It works. My hair is pretty long too so there isn’t any breakage. You need water. If it doesn’t work. Girls apply it to dry fried hair and then blame the product!
Yessssssss SSG Gilda Wright you are taking me waaaaay back with the Royal Crown. Does anyone remember "Hair-Rep" in the black and white tin can with the red lid? My mother used that on me and my sisters when she would press our hair on Sundays after wash Saturday.
SSG Gilda Wright, Wow!!! Royal Crown 😊 Do you remember "Dixie Peach"? My mom used Dixie Peach on my hair as a child and my hair had fallen out (completely bald at 2yrs old). She then switched to "Royal Crown". I am pleased with Blue Magic 😊
Gurlllll I love it !!!! I used the green one tho !!!! My hair stayed healthy with it... I put it on my scalp because it’s the only thing that seals in my moisture.. because the next days my hair is back dry . My hair is porous af ..... I don’t know who decided what was good for our hair. My hair stayed moisturized , long, soft and defined... Isn’t that the whole point lol ?
Nealicious girl, me either I went back to grease by in December. Not only was that the best decision I made in my entire natural hair journey period. But I fix my problem I had with my rough ends which really was.....my ends was dream using just oil and cream wasn't good enough or right for me. Now my hair retain length so much better. Plus it cheaper and a bigger oz that would last long and I'll get more usage. The new stuff shit be $12-$15 but I can only use it 2x and I'm done 😒 which is also why I buy my products from the local wig store not Walmart or Target plus they have more products to choose from.
I remember putting my hair in braidouts sometimes during high school and college back in the days and using just water and hair grease, and my hair would look really nice.
I was using grease for a lil while but then I stopped and found a natural hair butter from Shescentit which is amazing, but i think I will go back to using grease just on my ends because it is thicker, and see if I retain more length that way.
Jazzy Jay maybe because it will lock in the moisture and your ends won't be dry, and i think when your ends are really dry thats wat can cause the splitting and knots, but don't quote me on that lol but I need to start takin better care of my ends, and i think the grease will help
I just spent $30 on all these natural products! I quit, I'm done with spending so much. Grease works perfect for me. Thanks for this video.

I started using hair grease on my natural hair last year and it has been amazing. After trying every natural oil on the market and still having dry hair I decided why not try hair grease. I am 55 and greese made my hair grow like crazy .... what we did was always greese at least once a week for dryness .... my hair was healthy and long....
55 where?! 👀😊
I use blue magic and I love it. Sometimes sticking to what we did back in the day is best.
Amen sis
I had short dry hair when I was a child. Grease has always been a fail for me. Dandruff, greasy hair, dry hair dull and crunchy...
@@LoXena So did I but now I know my mom wasn't using it right at all. I use it now correctly and it WORKS!
And none of those products gave me results like this! ..
Hm. Lol. Agreed
YESSS!! I ALSO LIKE ULTRA SHEEN HAIR CONDITIONER
@@followmeandshare I've never tried ultra sheen but I had my eyes on it for a while . Does it work as good as blue magic?
Ginger Bingmon I think so! Before my mom ruined my hair with relaxers and other crazy products, my hair was so long I could sit on it!
All she used then was blue magic, water, that sheen spray on top. It smells good and doesn’t make my hair feel dry.
The only thing I do different now, is condition with cholesterol, and I use castor oil.
Exactly. 😃 Because back in school that's all we used. Even relaxing days. I'm keeping ma grease. 😃
Girl I have curly hair and that Magic is really magic for me just add water
Namjoongirl1167 me too!!
Exactly !!!! I validate everything you said!!!
Boom. Dropped that knowledge on them 1 time for the 1 time. 🔥
@ Crystal O, I didn't know that. But I thank you for the knowledge. It doesn't get anymore" NATURAL" than that, WOW!
Ladies it will also grow those edges back if you don’t wait to long to use it 👌🏽 top secret.
@@Jackie-uc6np for real?
The best.
I used it and my hair turned out fabulous. Definition for days moisturized for days. Was soft and fluffy. 4b,c fine thick hair.
Jenzi I love nu-gro and crisco in my hair.
My mamma the same lol
My mamma greased my scalp with castor oil or dax grease, used pink oil moisturizer on my hair and braided it up. Washed, conditioned with Lekair cholesterol AND BLOWDRIED it every 1-2 weeks in sections/knots. Hot comed 1-2 times a year for special occasions (Easter ect). Hair was to my butt with no ssk's! Yall, it's time to get back to basics. Ijs. 😑
Natasha K My mom loved Dax grease and water
Wow that sounds similar to my upbringing as well. Especially that hot comb on special occasions lol
I got me some suave essentials shampoo and conditioner, some blue magic bergamot, and some ors castor oil lotion. So far my hair is doing fine
What shampoo did she use? Was it V05?
I swear. 💯💯. Back to basics
@M ah love this comment. So very true. What are some pomades that you reccomend? I recommend you try natures blessing hair grease. Works very well.
DAX Green Grease been a friend to my hair for over 48 years
I may try it, just to try it.
That makes sense.
remember that everything is a chemical. it's just the matter of whether it's bad or good
There has never been anything wrong with blue magic.. good stuff
Now that’s a word!!! FACTS
My thought exactly I’m 59 forgot I had some in the cabinet in the back Jesus Christ what am I thinking
I'm 63. I went back to the basics, grease and water.
My hair was past my bum as a child. All my mom used was hair grease. I still use it to this day.
#bluemagicatitagain
jhibblerablly agree Im starting to wonder why we were told to stop using it especially since the products on the market often have the same ingredients
jhibblerablly what shampoo u use to wash it out
KawaiiBearPaws well I usually just use any shampoo but every now and then I clarify
KeepingItKASEY what shampoo
KawaiiBearPaws I use Design Essential and I use Loreal Elvive Extraordinary oil Shampoo
Ditto. All my hair issues started when I stopped using grease.
My hair (also my family) loves Blue Magic. We’re a type 4 household, no dry scalps in sight.
The Truth so true
So true. The Curly Gurl Method was for white and Hispanics. 🤷🏽♀️
@@sophiarose7610 Yep!
I like how the smell brings a smile to everyone's face. You instantly can see their childhood flash in their minds lol✨😊💜
Your hair turned out gorgeous!!🙏🏽😍
I just started using blue magic on my hair, like just recently, and it works SO well. I'm shook myself, LOL. I use it to seal in the moisture after using a little water and a simple, affordable olive oil hair dress product, the Lusti line. My hair's never looked better, the perpetual dryness I used to suffer from is pretty much gone.
It works on loosely curly hair too?
Joshi, yep just use a little on damp hair works fine.
I've used Vaseline and have gotten excellent results. (Costs a helluva lot less too!) Thanks for keeping it real! Beautiful hair--btw! Ms. ECstreet :)
Hello my name is shaunta Jackson and I just started using blue magic grease. Growing up my mom did my hair with blue magic and it feels good on my scalp. Its never greasy on my hair.
Flashback for my mom used Ultra Sheen in blue or green😃. Itwork wonders for my press & curl!🙌
There are plenty of lighter greases out there like the Softee line or Nature's Blessing.
i use the indian hemp and my hair is growing and is fine my end are not brittle and break any more
The only reason I stopped using mineral oil, cones and petroleum based products many years ago is because after a week or so my hair would get really dry, frizzy, feels heavily coated, greasy and dull looking.
Thank goodness a tub of blue magic lasts 2-3 years 😂
$2.99 for 3years=a win 💰
I agree!

I been using hair grease. It growing my hair it now growing past my shoulder ...got crochet now
Blue Magic has lanolin as the second ingredient. Used with water, lanolin is amazing to make one's hair soft for days. I use is BM because of the lanolin and my twists outs are soft, shiny and lasts for days. Love Blue Magic!
How can you reapply moisture back into your hair? Or do you have to rewash your whole hair back over.
Good luck!
Pamela Clark i use the Dax with added lanolin, the vegetable kind

Virtue Curlykj, that's awesome! It's economically affordable also.
That aussie is legit!
Hi love love love your videos. If you want to retwist you don't have to add more grease just dampen your hairbrush with water for each twist.
I think it’s time to go back to the basics!!! I remember my mom using the same thing on my hair when I was younger! Hair used to be laid!!!! This is so bomb!!! Just gave me an idea!!.
That's right, my mom did it to my hair and I still do it now with my natural hair. I'm old school.
I don't even use as much as shown in the video.
So true they are gimmicks. I've tried so many products and nothing has my hair feeling and looking as good as Blue Magic!
I wouldn't say they are "gimmicks" its just that everything doesn't work for everybody
For people who have thinner hair texture there are lighter hair greases available.
We also should wash our hair & scalp. Hair grease never failed us growing up.
Making lots of profit off of natural hair is the main goal with all of these product lines from these companies!
But it's black owned companies with the high prices 💯
@@curlynella1011 Well, use some hair grease. And white companies are in it to make lots of $profits$ as well...no matter what they're charging! "100"
Really cute results. Would I try it? No lol but only because grease for me attracts so much dirt that I don't even feel like that build up. But I'm a firm believer in WHATEVER works so if thats mustard on your hair who cares long as its healthy and cute.
i still use grease in my natural hair now. as long as you don’t use too much, i don’t see the problem. it also defines the heck out of my curls
Nika Walker waxy products defines my curls really well too.
I use the yellow blue magic grease the hair food and it works wonders I stopped using grease on my hair once I went natural and my hair was breaking and wasn't growing so I went back to my root literally 😂and started using (grease) it again
Jesy I just bought some Indian hemp 😆
Girl use crisco and water every 4 days. You’ll love it
Blue Magic is one of the g.o.a.t.s out here in these natural hair streets!!!!💖

I'm watching this again because I couldn't remember if you used a certain technique. I love how simple this is! My mom used Long Ade on my hair & scalp, no water though, and my hair was not only long, but healthy. I'm feeling like my hair is missing something, so I'm going to give good 'ol grease another try. 💜
,
I still use Long aid
I ALWAYS use grease for twist outs. It never fails me.
I guess what I don't understand is, why we bashed it so much even though it had our hair long ASF as little girls. My hair was down my back too and all they used was grease and gel on my hair
Steph Liliana the internet clogs Brains but If it worked then it works now your hair will grow with or without grease!!!
Grease was bashed by these so called natural Nazis because many were trying to sell a product.
Yesssss!!!! Blue magic is the bomb...I grew up on it and it actually grew my hair...just bought it again to start using...
Your twist out looks amazing 😍
Yes ma'am I've been using blue magic for 9 years now and my LOC method is Water, Coconut oil, and a little Blue magic.
Using grease to seal my leave in and cream has been a game changer.
Imma go get some grease today. . .well if I can lol
well said and i totally agree!
Water and grease! That's it! 🤜🏿🤛🏿
I agree with you on that blue magic...I don't know where they came from no petroleum...as a child my mom used Vaseline and my hair was beautiful
Yeah Gurll!!😂 Not only Blue Magic but, Royal Crown too!!🤣 Sometimes, we have go back to the old school. 😁
Yes for Crown Royal.Hair rep you to open with a butter knife. Lol
SSG Gilda Wright royal crown 🤣 yes! My husband still uses it.
GIRL RIGHT!!!?
I copped the green jar couple months ago and listennnnnn I'm happy I even bought some pro line comb thru Moisturizer
Vanessa Williams that’s a good idea. Imma try that. Do you think the grease will protect the ends from splitting?
Jazzy Jay maybe because it will lock in the moisture and your ends won't be dry, and i think when your ends are really dry thats wat can cause the splitting and knots, but don't quote me on that lol but I need to start takin better care of my ends, and i think the grease will help
