    I find it interesting that grease was used for eons in natural hair community and all my friends had long natural hair. We used hot combs,afro sheen, and grease. We all had long and healthy hair. Now all of a sudden, it clogs the scalp. This new generation rather spend alot of coin. I'm going back to basics and see if old school practices will help me retain my growth.

      Yes Darcey! I am about to video on hair grease and hair growth. Grease is a great sealant and minimizes breakage thereby leading to length retention. I'm doing a experiment on my hair and will post the video in a few weeks.

    I was diagnosed with dermatitis and my dermatologist recommended I use hair grease on my scalp along with the medicated shampoo she prescribed me.

      Hey Pretty Eyes! I know the medicated shampoo helps to reduce the inflammation, and the hair grease soothes the scalp 🙌🏾

    I personally never grease my scalp. I rarely have scalp issues and hair grease seems to make my scalp itch for whatever reason.

      Yes! I don’t grease my scalp either! If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. The scalp produces natural “grease” lol.

    So when I had a scalp biopsy done, the dermatologist told me to put Vaseline on the wound daily. Interesting that Vaseline heals but have been told not to use it! Years ago, I used Vaseline on my the nape of my niece’s scalp because her hair wouldn’t grow there. Two weeks later, her hair started growing in. I started using a little bit of Vaseline on my scalp and it actually feels better.
    Any thought on this?

    • @KarenofCurlHouse
      @KarenofCurlHouse  Рік тому +5

      Hi Joyful77! It makes perfect sense to me. Vaseline really keeps cuts and wounds stay moist, or keeping them from drying out too much so the scalp can do what it naturally does over time -- heal itself. So Vaseline helps to lock in moisture. Think about chapped lips for example, applying vaseline on the lips helps to lock in moisture or prevents moisture loss. With your niece, I am not sure if the Vaseline is what is caused the hair to grow, but it certainly helped to reduce moisture loss thereby reducing breakage and encouraging length retention. I know that was long...lol! I can't help myself!

      Water and grease. I have extremely 4cde (lol) dry hair. Every morning I dampen my hair with water. I use a diy concoction of sulfur 8, Vicks, and JBC with lime and peppermint. . Honestly within 6wks my hair is growing back in the crown area and the rest of my hair is thicker than I remember it was when I was young. This is not for everyone but it works for me. I used to shampoo every other day because I shaved my head. Now I shampoo once a wk. but dampen my hair, and massage my scalp everyday. And yes I leave the product on my scalp and hair. It does not irritate my scalp. I also take supplements; D3, MSM, B-Complex. I need all the help I can get. Thanks for sharing. ❤

      Hey there! I don't think traditional hair grease made of petroleum or mineral oil encourages growth -- it lubricates and soothes the scalp (and hair) , but doesn't necessarily stimulate growth. Hope this helps, and thanks for the feedback!

      @@KarenofCurlHouse Thanks for commenting on my comment! My hair seems to be at a plateau, a standstill it's not breaking it's not growing and I've been greasing my scalp. I was raised in south and that's just how my mom taught me to treat my hair and scalp. But now I will only use moisturizer or grease on the hair shaft itself. Thank you so much and have a blessed day!

    I am so thankful for your videos. No other hair videos that I have watched have educated me so much on my hair like yours. Thank you. So if coconut oil clogs your skin, does that mean that coconut grease will do the same?

    • @KarenofCurlHouse
      @KarenofCurlHouse  Рік тому

      Coconut oil in hair grease is typically petroleum or mineral oil. It's highly likely that is very little coconut oil in the jar. so I'm sure its ok. Check out the ingredients list in the back.
