What a privilege /humbled
Why is funeral on bucket ?
Besides Buckethead being a master of his unique style; his lack of ego always fascinated me.
I love that he takes himself unseriously as he takes his music seriously. It's an awesome combination. I've even seen him hold his guitar out to let children in the front row strum some notes and push the effects buttons.
especially among guitar players.. When I was younger the EGO was so thick some people wore it like a cloak and you could actually watch it flap in the wind as a breeze came along. I ignore it today though.
We’ll said fam!!!!!!!!
Then why can't I hear the violinist .......
She is so cocked blocked
All these years, and Buckethead hasn’t aged a bit. Amazing!
🤣👍✌
Bucket does the song justice i feel. Doesn’t over play. Doesn’t hog the spotlight. Just playing in unison with these awesome artists.
Just what i thought!
Yeah
Yep agree 100%
Anyone that has not seen Bucket or doesn't know how many joints he's played studio on. Talk about missing the boat.. Plus nicest most humble guy ever..
Kina what he always does
Thank you buckethead
A fine tribute to Eddie. When I was in the military back in the late 70's a black friend of mine played Maggot Brain for me when he found out I was a HUGE Jimi Hendrix fan. To say the least I was absolutely blown away. I was stationed at March AFB in California at the time and immediately began searching for my own copy of that Funkadelic album in dusty old record stores in San Bernadino. I was eventually able to find it, and still have it. Back at the barracks the commanders and first sergeants office was down the hall in my barracks on the same floor. One day I had Maggot Brain literally blasting as loud as hell and noticed that the mirror on my door was shaking from someone banging on it. I had it so loud I couldn't hear the banging. So, I turned it down and quickly opened the door. To my horror the first sergeant was standing there. I thought I was in big trouble and then he told me that he heard it down the hall and just wanted to know who that was. I explained to him that it was an older album by the Funkadelics and that it wasn't in print anymore. He wanted it for his son. HOW COOL IS THAT. To top it off, years later I posted that story on an Eddie Hazel web site and got an email from Eddie's widow asking if she could use that story. Of course I said YES. Eddie and Maggot Brain will live forever. One of the greatest guitar solo's of all time.
I am moved by you story.
Buckethead would have been legend in the 1970's too. Thank You Buckethead for carrying the torch !
In a parallel universe, I still listen to Buckethead. There are many universes but only one *Buckethead*
Well said. This is the jam
Buckethead's section sounds so much like David Gilmour On An Island era, I love it.
Also, it looks like I'm spending the day researching Lili Haydn, what a beast. Woo!!
I was just about to say how this has such a Pink Floyd vibe to it.
Look out Jean Luc Ponty...
Saw her open for Plant/Page in ‘98. Personally, I think her cover of Maggot Brain (elsewhere on UT)is as good or better than any guitar cover version
Yep, got major Gilmour vibes on that
I was thinking exactly the same when I saw this!😂💜✌️
Bucket head is so versatile and Funk legend Bernie's keyboards outasight !
Lili Hayden is crushing it on violin. At first I thought her mic was cut, but then I realized the initial solo was all hers.
her mic is not cut, but the sound seems like it is only the wet channel. At least its all reverb and no main violin sound. It's genuinely a mixing crime
Her violin sounds like an electric guitar.
Oh shit. I see
She sounds like two seagulls fighting over a discarded french fry, simply awful. I've been to concerts like this and had to walk out, criminal.
Violin with wah-wah effect... on "Maggot Brain" solo... That's awesome!!!!
I'm a dinosaur from the 1970s who'd been despairing about the modern music scene, but have stumbled across this brilliance. Can't wait to chase up all the names (Buckethead, Eddie Hazel, Lili Haydin). If there are others of this talent please point me in the right direction and make my 2023.
Eric Johnson, to name ONE.
Joe Dart is a fantastic Bassist, The Beths are a great indie alternative rock group, The Mike Wheeler band are a funk/soul group who are all incredibly talented.
Bro you will get lost just listen to Buckethead 400 albums
Polyphia is pretty good also. Extremely talented
Eddie Hazel solo stuff is great aswell. I'm a big P funk guy tho. He had an album called 'Games, Dames, an Guitar Thangs'
As for new music, California Guitar Trio is pretty great
Soul is firing on all cylinders
WOOOO! Maggot Brain is considered by many to be one of the greatest solos every written on any instrument. 🤘 Eddie Hazel was a hell of a guitar player. And Bernie, on keys in this song, played on Maggot Brain, also. Yep. Hes PFunk for eternity.
Eddie was told to play like he’d just heard his mother died…….he did an incredible job. A VERY underrated player in my opinion.
Nice to see that the some of the greatest rock songs are appreciated even today. I remember this song back in the 1970's. Unbelievably powerful by the Funkadelics. Great Album. Nice to see a cover that does the original justice. It takes one on a musical journey. Love this.
Well the solo was played on violin... At least the first half of the song anyway
I was PFunk and White1975....Funketelecity vs the Placebo syndrome....and that...led me to this, I always thought PFunk was the equivalent of a black Kiss!
A real Funk circus,the original!
That B-3 is epic 👍👍👍
WOW! I mean DAMN!!, how can there not be more electric violins played in metal bands!!??? Lili Hayden has earned my complete respect!! The whole band really played perfectly. They all have such talent, I can't believe this is the first time I've heard them.
Check out Eddie Jobson in UK and David Cross in King Crimson. Prog, not metal. Then there is Jerry Goodman in the Mahavishnu Orchestra. Fusion. And Allen Sloan and Mark O'Connor in The Dixie Dregs.
Listen to iHigh Tide. Sea Shanties..I have heard a hard core band that had a violin Said I believe Other olde include be The Flock
Subrosa from Utah. They arent around anymore but they had two of em. God I miss that band.
Roxy Music -- Eddie Jobson, later Lucy Wilkins (Out Of The Blue), fantastic!
The version of Interworld and The New Innocence from this show is my all time favorite version of that song. Definitely a show I'd give my right arm and left leg to witness live.
I must have gotten something in my eye... Simply beautiful.
You need to hear Lillie by herself doing this, she isnt mixed very well in this version, can barely hear her.
Best comment ever for best song ever
@@edwardhaglin2322 yiex!
I am always suspect when I see "cover" of a great song. This is an outstanding version of one of the greatest often unknown guitar solo's in music history. We of the Funk Masters Society applaud all the musicians here. Bravo R.I.Music Eddie Hazel and Bernie Worrell
I always loved the song and I always loved Buckethead. This is a match made in Heaven.
The "guitar solo" in the first half of the song is played entirely on violin... In case you didn't notice
Not so unknow solo. Y heard this Eddie Hazel solo years ago. Makes me cry.
I loved Maggot Brain from the first time I heard it in the early 70's. Good job Buckethead. Thank's Mr. Natter.
Guitar Master for the 21st century, ur gifted by our Lord, now please gift the bucket head. Of the great state of michigan, can't wait to see u in concert.
Lili does an amazing job on this tune.
Cried the first time i heard it, still do, never wipe my tears for this song, I wear them proudly. Bravo.
Literally just had this experience. I was overcome.
Maggot brain gets me every time, back then and still today. Even when I play it myself.
I feel that!!!
Pure art of music
I love when Lili gets closer to Bucket and mirror jam. The whole thing one of my favorites. Tennesee YeeHaw
I was there, about 12 feet in front of the person recording. My first time seeing Bucket and on my birthday to boot. This song was one of the highlights of my life, and the show. I almost got tunnel vision watching her solo. Fucking epic. Thanks for the upload.
Lucky ❤️🤘🏼
What year was this concert?
@@fredsherrill3 2004 Bonnaroo festival in TN. Praxis went on at 2am, Mars Volta was the other band for that slot. It was top 3 greatest shows I've ever seen.
@@bens4295 I can't believe it's been that long ago! thank you for your reply !
@@fredsherrill3 You and me both man. No problem brother.
Man that took me for a trip around Mars, i just landed!!!!!!!!! Damn!!!!
I first heard Maggot Brain while in high school. Blew me away! I still have the vinyl record!
They would play it at 1am every sat morning. Supposedly time to go home. Why didn’t i know i was having the time of my life 🌹🌹🌹👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🦾🦾🦾violin
oh my god how many version of maggot brain i should listen, every time it gets better
Ever since I found out about Buckethead (recently ... what rock have I been under?), I've been thinking Maggot Brain would be a perfect song for him. Didn't disappoint! And wow! Lili Hayden was working that violin!
That girl is killing it on the violin!
Lili just rocking right out! Love it.
This is truly beyond words I have not heard anything like this since Zappa's instrumentals in the 70's like black page or peaches en regalia
Agreed. I think you meant to cite Black Napkins, not Black Page (which is a percussion piece)
And Watermelon in Easter Hay!
@@chestersgorilla8465 so true another favorite
@@peterdelaney7061 thanks
Kamasi Washington NPR Concert, must see and listen, nothing like it since Miles Davis
I can't say in words what this track means to me,funkadelic and this...the feeling is so deep n sad..it's beautiful and timeless
Cool performance.... this plays as i exit the building into the cold world
This is truly one of my favorite tunes by Funkadelic!!
I’ve watched this several times today, starting to think that Lili and Buckethead both come from another, more interesting dimension.
Praxis came to mind a couple of days ago, and this is just what the doctor ordered! Happiest of New Years, y'all!
He never gets old!
Damb is she matching bucket note for note.I dont know why I have tears in my eyes, just so god damb powerful. I need to breathe
Buckethead isn't just a shredder player but, crushes soul a lot.
Thanks NN.
And thanks for shipping my poster so quickly and it arrived in excellent shape. Got it yesterday! Righteous! Have a good Friday, you and your family! Blessings
My pleasure, friend and the same to you and yours!. And glad to hear it! Woo!! 🎄🎅
Buckethead and others are awesome but the drummer is really good too!! Love it!!
Indeed, Bryan Mantia is awesome, you might enjoy him beating the hell out of his drums on this one ua-cam.com/video/jfMGJXElUvE/v-deo.html
thats is the rockingest blues heavy violin i have ever heard, what a mindblower.
AND horribly suggestive, that crowd in the dark.
she must be on Nitrous Oxide , That girl rocks, full of energy and style !
Eddie Hazel would be proud.
.
I still have the vinyl! I still remember the first time I ever heard it I had to run right out and get the record.
Bluesy rock at its finest. If the rest of their music is like this I will gladly pay to download it. Takes me back to Robin Trower from the 70’s.
Now that’s called Jamming !!
Such a powerful song!
Awesome just awesome. I love buckethead and I love how he had all those members on stage performing with him. The song was great!
It`s like "Krautrock" in the 70`s. Like it.
Impressionnant !!!!👍👍👍
That was the best song I ever fucking heard.
This is the best way to enjoy time on youtube. Surely one of the best clip ever for me. It stays up there with Comfortably Numb, Pulse live, 1994.
5:02 Bernie does the classic double hands on head while witnessing a tragedy. Me too brother me too.
You mean Bill?
The 1st time I heard Maggot Brain was a few years back, I immediately thought of Buckethead, I think He pays homage to Eddie all the time.
Very nice!!
RIP WOO!!!!
Monday, September 25/2023 still LOVE ❤
One of the greatest guitar solo songs from long ago revisited👍
THE greatest instrumental ever written.
One of my favorite songs of all time played by my favorite guitarist. There's nothing better I could've asked to be played!
Agreed fam!!!
What a fabulous track 👍 Thanks NatterNet 🎸 The Guitar playing is out of this world 🌎
long live Bucket !
I'm glad I bumped into this! What a great performance. Buckethead has such feel in his playing, but technically can do anything as well. 🎸
RIP Bernie Worrell ❤️
That’s amazing
Lili looks as if she's hacking away at a totally different song - on another plain - at first but then comes back into sync. Great stuff.
Wonderful! Wonderful!! Wonderful!!!
Amazing. Buckethead is a true genius. Eddie was only 15 when he played this, and tripping on LSD, he was told play like your mother just died
Awesome concert!!
Such a calming trance.
Thank you Natter Net
For me, one of my favorite tracks. Great version, well done!!
Great cover💯 I think Ed Hazel would appreciate & approve too🎶
Killing it.... Outstanding...
They are so great!
Thanks for the time travel Natternet .
So great!
I think buckethead has some sort of fan in his bucket so he can stay cool while on stage during the summer. Perhaps a cool suit or something. He is absolutely stunning to see live if you ever have the chance to see him just go! It's worth it.
this made my day. Thank you
The best 10 minutes of my day.
Cosmically feeling blue, yea brother.
Just beautiful and epic. Happy Holidays!
Incredible organ working with Buckethead guitar 🎸 its a masterpiece of rock classical music
Not a rock classic but a funk classic brought to us by the great George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic
E minor is all you need. Beatiful!
emozionante! grazie!!!
Funkadelic das antigas era 10! Oldies Funkadelic!

Fantastic !!!!!!!!!!!
It's a beautiful feeling when you get into a sweet groove in a band - thanks for sharing
Man, what a performance. Im in love
Thank you for posting this. It is reminding me of when I was able to see Big Bucket of Bernie Brains with my father at a festival ( who has recently passed).
This has reminded me of a happier time
What an epic song to cover! That was awesome!
Omg I was there and stumbled into this. 1st time I had seen praxis. Those hot Tennessee nights, this one was cool.
wow. just amazing.
I like this buddy.. and it looks like mystery science theater 3000
