Anyone else notice how Winston stepped off of the property before shooting the adjudicator?
I really enjoyed this show! I hope they do another series based on a different time frame in the John Wick universe. Thanks SC for covering this, most of the other channels skipped it...
shows how smart he is. he KNEW he could kill her without any consequences
I did notice that Winston steps down .This show was amazing 5 star 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 17:13 8:05
I did notice that Winston steps down .This show was amazing 5 star 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 17:13 8:05
I saw that
@@ImotekhtheStormlord-tx2itwell technically Winston’s still in deep trouble with the high table since the adjudicator is basically the judge and representative of the high table and all it’s disputes rule breakings and crimes against the table and pew pewing them is a BIG NO NO when it comes to high table officials conducting their business.
Killing an adjudicator was kind of a big deal they were untouchable so I hope that season 2 dwells more on how Winston became or was forced to become a loyal dog of the high table, and maybe in the future though more light if he's related or not to John wick at all.
WHich is why I think it was a dumb character move. They'd just storm the place and kill him.
She did withhold Cormac killing on continental grounds to begin with ,keeping info from the high table has to have a punishment
@@unclebadtouched true, Winston didn’t know but if they do another 3-part, maybe they will work that in
@@garyfrombrooklyn I'd watch another mini series
@@HappyHighwayman me too! This show was awesome. The soundtrack deserves a room, it was killer.
Loved this show! I need more! Will never get tired of the Wickverse
I absolutely loved this series. That phone booth fight was TOO dayum dope. Amazin fight choreography…
The Continental is one of the few pieces of media that does different actors playing younger versions of characters right, such as how Colin Woodell doesn’t just do an Ian McShane impression for the entire show but just had an essence of his swagger in how he portrays Winston
I agree, he gives an unique style of the character, we are not the sames person that we were a year ago, so he is 30 year old winston, not the same old and mature winston we saw on the movies, same with the others characters, loved the series
Poor Lemmey was just trying to get some. Can't blame him. Rest in peace Lemmster! Be seeing you.
This show is super underrated, honestly surprised a lot of the main review channels are barely talking about this series. I think they F'd up trying to force it on Peacock. Should of just released it on normal HBO or something. Probable one of the best Shows we got this month.
Hey Ryan, you keep saying “Kay-Ron” for Charon’s name. However, it’s pronounced “Sha-Rón”. Named after Charon The Ferryman, in Greek Mythology. Charon was the boatman; whose duty it was to ferry souls over the Rivers Styx and Acheron. He received A COIN as payment for the price of entering the underworld (just like The Continental does).
This show was incredible. All three eps were bangers. Not a flaw in the series.
felt like a extended film, amazing 🎉
Agreed, it was fantastic
Had my doubts.
Thankfully those were erased by the first 10 mins of episode 1.
Great show. I hope we get more seasons
🔥
The best series of the year. Loved every episode/mini movie lol. I want more!
There is one that you guys might have missed which might be very important, after drinking the vodka in the end Yen puts down the glass upside down, which might be reference that she ain't going to drink anymore which might symbolize that she's pregnant, hence reference to John Wick being her son?
😮 I believe in Episode 1, she revealed to Franklin, she was pregnant.
hmmm.... that means john wick would be related to winston? this could explain why winston helps john so much. he sees himself in john and knows something john doesnt know
@@ImotekhtheStormlord-tx2itespecially after you watch john wick 4
The bank where Winston and the Bowery Queen are, is the same one in John Wick 1 or 2.
When the Bowery King helped John escape and gave him a gun with 7 bullets
7 bullets 😀
Tech geek addendum: The computer in the control room is a Commodore PET, one of the earliest Commodore home computers. By the time of the first John Wick movie, the Continental has moved on to using the Commodore 64, which can be seen being used by the secretaries.
I'm a little sad that The Continental was only a 3-episode mini-series. It was such a good watch. But I guess with the rumored Ana De Armas led ballerina spinoff film as well as answering the Akira question, the franchise is still on going.
I think the three episode limit kept it tight and clean. If they want you leaving for more, they did it right.
Over under on her character being raped? Because that's what Jennifer Lawrence did as an actor several times.
@@picantepatricio true. they could do 6 episodes for 30min each but they did 3 episodes 1h each. really nice. it almost felt like 3 movies.
The critics are wrong. This mini series was awesome. Easily has a rewatchability factor like the 4 JW films.
they hate it bcuz of Mel. ofc its bcuz mel and many normies and imbeciles also hate mel bcuz mel has his own demons and views as if other people had them. he acted really good, he played a paranoid brute who couldnt accept his demise
What did you think of the series?
It was great. I wished the ratings were higher.
Is there gonna be more?
I loved it. I need more.
I mean it was great. It was action-packed, and the phone booth fight was absolutely amazing. Liked the backstory for characters i didnt know i needed and loved the new characters. Great show to only have three episodes.
John Wick prequels
Awesome finale ,and worthy of the wickverse.
Great job as usual Ryan and Doug!! I while like to add if no one has yet, that just before Winston shoots the adjudicator. He steps off the steps off the hotel because no business on hotel grounds!
He wasn't part of that world so it wouldn't matter to him to kill her on the grounds people were killed all over the hotel did u even watch it
@@MrKbassett17Because the red light was on... did you watch it?
I love how Winston steps off the steps of the continental to off the adjudicator as to not break the rules (no killing on company grounds) and the best part she didn’t even see it coming she thought she was safe working for the table but she was so wrong.
Winston also gave her a hint of his intention when he told her, "and I never killed an adjudicator before."
This episode was sick, some great fights. Was expecting to see it go to present day at the end showing Ian McShane in the final shot.
After seeing the relationship grow between Winston and Charon, what happens in JW4 really hits home
How did Winston survive the high table coming after him? This ending ensures more episodes
the adjudicator withhold the information that the manager kill inside the continental and let him live longer which is a no no for the high table. and she was killed outside the hotel so its ok.
He killed the adjudicator off of Continental grounds. He stepped down onto public grounds and shot her. Fair play.
@@pertallen8134she also failed in her task, so she was going to be taken care of
Well Winston’s not in trouble because he didn’t conduct business on company grounds by stepping off the steps of the hotel because the steps are still considered the hotel grounds but he is in trouble for the adjudicators dem*se. Most likely winston will appeal to the new adjudicator (because the table will have already replaced her before the bodies cold) and high table members and the elder (because the elder sits/stands above the table) and offer his fealty to the table and do all the duties and tasks for the table in exchange for keeping the continental under his new ownership and not having to pay the price for k*ling the adjudicator and taking over the continental with his life which most likely they’ll except his offer because he’s still alive in the John wick movies and has been in control of the continental for over 40 years otherwise Winston wouldn’t have been al*ve to meet John and become friends with him.
Kudos Ryan and the screencrush team for taking the time and effort to review these three episodes. I'm sure its a risk when you step off from Marvel & Starwars but you did a superb job and I thank you.
Gene pretending to be an exterminator also works because he’s literally an exterminator (of predators)
I thought the show was good. There's nothing else taking me to Peacock so it guess it accomplished the goal. Really glad this was done in 3 weeks and not try to stretch it out. I'm glad you reviewed the series!
The continental is awesome I hope season 2 two comes.
Three things I noticed. First the obvious one, is that the twins are a mixture of Neo, Trinity and the Agents from the Matrix.
The second one is that Winston DIDN'T kill the Adjudicator in Continental grounds, as we can he STEPS DOWN from the stairs, which has already been shown as a safe haven in other movies.
Third, the books piled up by Cormac in the table are foreshadowing his attempt to implode the Continental (defensionem).
Well Winston did unlawfully cause the dem*se of the adjudicator which he’ll have to appeal to the new adjudicator (because the table will have already replaced her before her bodies cold) as well as the other high table members and most importantly appeal to the elder (because the elder sits/stands above the table) and offer his fealty to the table and promise to honor/complete the rules responsibilities duties tasks for the table etc etc in exchange for keeping the New York continental hotel under his new ownership and not have to pay the price for the unlawful dem*se of the adjudicator and the take over of the hotel with his and his accomplices lives. Which they most likely do because Winston’s still al*ve in the JW films and has been manager/owner for over 40 years.
Excellent series which told a great story with just the right amount of episodes! Not to long, which made it get right to the point. More please!
i enjoyed this show and yen fight in episode 3 was insane
I love how Winston steps off the steps of the continental to cap the adjudicator as to not break the rules (no conducting business on company grounds) best part she didn’t see it coming she thought she was safe but no she was wrong
Mad Mel deserves an Emmy, but because he is so evil irl he won't be nominated
We need a season 2
This show was amazing all 3 episodes gave you more than enough
@15:08 it’s actually Dinah Washington’s "What A Difference A Day Makes" 1959
I learned about this song from The Jamie Foxx show when he walked in and started singing in front of Francesca.❤❤❤
It should be noted the High Table respected, hated, and listened to Winston even though he is just a manager. The Continental Series gave a reason why it was the case.
Love this. I hope they keep expanding the WickVerse
13:22 don’t forget the classic LOADED from PlayStation1 😅
Would have been great if at the end when the camera pans up from the steps of the Continental to the top where Winston is drinking his martini, that Winston morphs into the Winston we know today.
kinda what I was expecting as well.
Same
Yes, but Continental is destroyed in John Wick 4
@@youmad7068 it would have been right before Wick 1
That phone booth fight was so good 😂😂
I’m way behind finally finishing these films but LOVED them and especially loved your coverage of them. Thanks!
Adjudicator was corrupt.
When she confessed to plotting against Continental and the fact that she did not ex communcardo last owner for breaking the rules, she was walking dead.
Winston putting a bullet through her probably did the High table a favour.
Loved it
Watched it a few times
Look forward to what's next.
Well done Gentlemen
I liked the series. The action scenes are really underrated and the overall feel really fits the John Wick universe.
All of the characters had some big ol' niche gimmick and I really get why they've made it their trademark. It's almost like how animated characters are written.
It was very well done, each like a movie, didnt expect it to be so excellent.
Yeah I really loved the series I don’t get why the critic hated the show other then well Mel Gibson (not gonna lie I think Mel Gibson was great in the series.) but overall I want them to do a season 2 plus I think with 90 minutes of runtime this is what a streaming series (aside Andor ) especially the Disney plus shows like marvel and maybe to a lesser extent Star Wars (although I do like Ahsoka.) should be?
I actually liked that it was a 3 episodes miniseries, which is fitting since all togheter were about 3 hours in total, like a feature movie with extended scenes.
Dragging it for more episodes would have been redundant, it lasted how it was suppose to last.
Try 4 and half hrs long mate
Decided to watch this after seeing in your feed. Amazing show! Thanks for the recommendation!
The hand to hand Fights were amazing,8/10 for the show
It’s pronounced “Sha-Rone”
Great series, so much crammed into 3 episodes! I really enjoyed it! Hoping for a season 2! Thank you for these breakdowns! 👍
After watching the last episode now I appreciate Winston's dialogue from chapter 2 you demand nothing of me this empire is mine and mine alone
Your momma! 😂🤣😂
Had me dying laughing when u said it!
Thanks for the breakdowns, I really enjoyed the show!
Phenomenal breakdown, I may watch all three 🔁 for a third time ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Underrated for sure i absulutly loved this mini series and i am extra exaited for ballarina
Just a theory. The kid who was in the orphanage can be the doctor that helps wick out. The reason behind why I say this is bc he grabs objects that can be of help later on. Which can be a useful skill if he is a doctor. He can immediately see what tool to get and how that can help. And when wick is in trouble and can’t help him, he sees where is it at and tells him what to grab. Bc if he grabs it, then it will be bad for him. It also helps that he works alone and has all the tools at his disposal when he is fixing wick
Did the doctor have two arms?
The orphan only has 1 arm. So he can’t be the doctor.
I didn’t see that he didn’t have one arm. Apologies.
he is too young to be the doctor, and the kid only has 1 arm, while the doctor has 2
Great Episode SC! Thanks for doing this mini series.
I learn so much from these that really add to the episodes.
Toronto native here (& more), yes, Chuck Spadina was a great Keanu nick name, and Spadina is a major street in Toronto.
Just FYI it's pronounced as Spad-eye-na. But a local joke makes fun of the 3 mis-pronunciation. (one of which you used)
Cormac was so grossed out by the adjudicators face but he watches people explode on the cameras and melts a dude's head with a golf club and is perfectly unfazed??
Loved the show. It definitely add something extra. Amazing job by Screencrush. So awesome you made this 3 videos. The action in this last episode was amazing imo.
Error. Carmac threatens to send Charon back to Zimbabwe. Rhhodesia didn't become Zimbabwe until 1980.
The Continental is set in the 1970's
good catch
to be precise the first time the name was brought up was in 1979 when a coup was held and the state became known with both names
great catch!
Absolutely loved it. Need more.
They have to make another season they can't leave me with that ending🤩
I feel the same
I love it! I never hear anyone talk about the SuicideGirls! My mom was one of the first people in that site I’ll have to tell her about this fact!
good vid. we enjoyed the continental series. it filled in the early history of wick series.
The Elixir, man the sniper is hilarious.
That 120 year old “The Great Train Robbery” pull is insanity
That was a great tv show , I just hoped we had more episodes
I love your Easter egg videos. Thank you much
4:18 thats a really fun fact. If you didn't know Spadina avenue is (was) a famously busy street in Toronto!!!
it makes sense that Keanu reeves would suggest it 😆
I knew it sounded familiar. I think I heard it all the time on Much Music in the 90’s
Yen is pregnant with Frankie’s baby. She will name it John.
Or she and Frankie already had the baby prior to the events of this series.
He is Belarussian
@@HappyHighwaymanis it possible he was just raised by Belarusians?
@@slicksterofstyle9161 Sure but he'd be too young. John Wick would have been born in the mid 60s.
@@HappyHighwayman Reeves was born in the 60’s, but do we know John Wick’s age? I’m not arguing with you btw, just discussing.
A really good short mini story/anthology... But as a connection to john wick series, its kinda all over the place and a bit too draggy at some point of the story... Whatever the next movie entry, i hope they build on the high table side of things in the next installment of movies..
Me saying charon name in my head correctly cause im trying to figure out who “ K ron” is lol
I’d definitely watch another 3 episodes series felt like mini movies so so good
I just saw this probably the best series ive seen since snowfall
The show was great. It far exceeded my expectations! Have you heard anything regarding future Continental shows / series?
I thought John Wick would be introduced in the end.
I thought 4 movies introduced him? This is the origin series!
Amazing video. Made it easy for me to keep up with what was going on in the show while giving some context to the scenes and hidden meanings.
Underrated show 💯
This show is awesome💯
Adjudicator still pronounces some words clearly despite having no lips.
Medicine that gives energy and helps with pain isn't plot armor. It's either amphetamine or a designer drug cousin-version of amphetamine. Not exactly "plot armor" ;)
Red Right Hand is also “Devine vengeance”
You guys catch the fact that Winston stepped off the continental before shooting. Making it within the rules.
And Jenkins has a perfect accent for someone from the 'Hollar'
I hope they continue this with season 2
10/10 series so far. amazing spinoff
Love the show hopefully we can get more !!!
10:30 my favorite reference
the little Chinese kid grows up to be John Wick, heard it here first
I remember defensionum had a full name but I forgot what Charon calls it the first time we see it though.
I'm glad u liked my style makeup
Just watched the series. Really really good show!
Twins was my favourite villains in the series
Even more criminal than how slept on this show was is that Albert Hughes has never been tapped to direct a Batman, Spider-Man, Daredevil, Moon Knight, Power Man/Iron Fist, or even a Doctor Strange project. I think he would bring this unique visual style, lived in but otherworldly quality, and darkness, to those comics projects that would just be perfect.
Awesome show!!
I would like to know what happened to everyone who helped him take over the hotel.
Great vid!
Loved the show!!!
9:56 did the nerd that talks to his dog just roast my moma??? i am hurt!
Very out of character to randomly murder the adjudicator
Best series thing i have seen in a long time. Definitely a cult classic!
This episode was an evolution in form for the whole genre and medium
