Is it though it is scratched all over, rear wiper is missing, door cards marked. If that one is a beaut mine must be Concours! It even has two dump valves!

ST205, 3SGTE, spoiler riser blocks, Wrc didn't come with side skirts bit the 'normal' gt4's do, alot of wheels don't fit due to offset for front calipers been huge, the seats look like re-trimmed standard ones, and if memory serves me right they are one of not many cars that are a true 50/50 power split 👍

Yeah, it looks like a cheap re-trim kit, Australian delivered GT-Fours didn't have leather, they had black fabric with dodgy red pattern over them.

my mate (rip) had a fully built, lotus burnt orange st205 with about 450bhp, absolute animal of a thing so i have mega respect for these and the st185 carlos sainz which he had before it

Thank God someone's finally done a proper review on a gt4, so many half assed ones or just walk arounds. Such an underrated car my friend has one in similar spec and it's insane and I have the model down the st202 with a few mods it's a perfect daily for a second car and they're both brilliant b road bashers. Definitely an underrated car. I've got one in Alaska and it often comes out on top in our rally courses with cars much newer! Always a favorite when it shows up. I drive it hard and never trailer it...and always drive it home...so far!
I own a ST205 WRC edition imported from Japan to Australia and going to say it was the perfect decision I ever made in my dream car very nice cars only thing is people don’t know much about them until that one time driving than changing minds

A mate of mine used to own a Gen 5 GT-Four. It was mental :)
the engine in the st205 the 3sgte is capable of much more power in standard form than 300bhp its the fact that the ecu cant be mapped that holds people back but it has maps for different boost levels pre programmed upto the fuel cut
jimi kestell very true best is a standalone ecu i have link g4 storm on my st185rc my mechanic builds 3sgte well over 500hp they definitely capable of much more power!
Jamie FYD it's a JDM Import from japan and they have aircon as stock the UK ones don't, Nice little review I would say a bit more home work needed but I did enjoy it as GT4 is a wicked car. I give you a challenge to do a review on a Vert like mine :-)
Nicola Robynson JDM have climate control as stock, export models have manual air con as stock.

Rod Millen's Pikes peak Celica held the record up there for 13 years, wouldn't say its a forgotten relic.
I'm Aussie, not a Celica expert but I'm confident in saying this model GT-4 was never sold here, we did get the previous model with different headlights. I used to really like the castrol rally version of this car and was always sad they never sold it in Aus. Maybe the seats are out of a lesser model.

only 77 very rare . I saw are st205 forsale for 25 k start of the year . They sell for 24000 usd these days . Group a is like wrc in Japan . I see most above 1 million yen now I Japan . 12k aud

Decent review, very underrated cars. A real rival and better WRC credentials than the Escort Cosworth when new imo. Although the Toyota cost a bit more at the time, could probably buy 4 or 5 GT4's for the price of a Cossie now. Super strut suspension will need doing more like 60-80k miles rather than the 40-60K kilometres quoted in the video.

I have the ss3 beams celica (comessuper strut suspension) its only a 200hp NA but it feels like a giant go kart, also owned a st185 gt four which was a beast @ 400hp, my next stop is one of these :-) i cant let go of the celica because of its handling and when you live amounst rally roads over in new zealand hp isnt everything, but hey the 3sgte can still make 800hp like your 4g63's and so on.
Yes, an elder brother of supra & 3sgte engine such a beast. I was hoping you could review toyota caldina gtt with the same engine.

Yes Jamie!! I have a celica gt4 st205 aswell and in my opinion they are set up perfectly! The launch you can get from them is unbelievable. I have been waiting a long time for you to review one as they are very underated cars. I have a Dyno sheet for 311 bhp, with plans to forge!!

Wheels are off a Subaru and sit badly with Impreza's crazy offset... I agree you need GT4 dedicated wheels for the car to look good and drive proper (no idiotic spacers).

My Dad purchased a WRC homologation ST205 1 of only 2.500, running 280bhp Stock! Next year is a big year for performance upgrades!
Jamie_FYD if you had to choose between a late 90's sti, evo, gt4, all with just simple bolt on mods which would you choose. I am super curious for your opinion seeing as you have driven all three now.
P.S I have owned a 99 sti and now own a 99 evo 6 but haven't had a chance to try a gt4.

Ben Chesterman could you be more specific? Also wrx aren't really in the same category. As they are more of a budget car vs those others listed. Though the 97-00 gc8 wrx had the same power as the sti. But modern sti vs wrx have a much bigger performance gap.

Why do people say "Baileys"? It's Bailey! Those riser blocks (to raise the spoiler) look really cool. Only JDM 205 and 202 had climate control. Lovely unmolested one.

It's a JDM car with climate, UK & Aus cars have aircon + sunroof. Not seen grey leather before, possibly a re-trim.

If these came with a ford badge, these would have shared the same success as the Cosworths. Give it 5 to 10 years and people will start considering these the Japanese Cosworths and will see a price rise when people realise how special they are.... just like the Honda Integra DC2.
The funny think is the Celica GT4 won 3 world championships, while the Escort Cosworth never came close to winning even 1 championship. Strange the cars that are remembered as legendary and the ones that are not

The Toyota Supra is only special popular because it was in the movie made it special but the celica GT4 has a rally history also the celica it’s a 4WD and the minty Supra Rear wheel drive. Definitely the celica could beat the Supra any day on a race track especially the 3SGTE engine only needs 500 horsepower than easily can smash 700 horsepower cars + with 4WD better control handling

We never got the st205 in australia at all to tell you the truth only the st202 and st204 were available in that shape, you dont see any of them here unless its a genuine import. Those seats have been re trimmed and sent over. seeing one of these here is like seeing godzilla in LA.
