i love it that you nerd out on toyota tercels and do all the work yourself and make the instructions clear! this is way beyond my capabilities, but watching you rebuild these cars is so satisfying. i will never want another kind of car than this. Mine's an '85.
Thanks so much for the kind words! I appreciate it.
I love them very much and don't want many other cars beyond several of these. Haha.
Awesome to watch this video now a second time. Since my Tercel SR5 4wd is now running, I can start thinking about having fun with this kind of stuff. And also scrapyard finds making their way to the Tercel project list.
Amazing video, funny transitions, love it! Just got an All-trac wagon and thinking about possible work I'll do to it, this was incredibly helpful.
Thanks!
Maybe an idea to use Owatrol on the rust, so you keep the original look, but it won't rust further. I have used it on my old scooters from the 60's, works really well!
yay! the lift kit video!!! :)
Thank you! I have been really excited to do this video. I wish it was a bit better but I can't exactly go back in time. I'll be better as I go!
Thanks for watching. I very much appreciate it!
Just bought a 1983 Tercel Wagon 4wd and I would love to see the HRG Offroad Lift kit installed... :)
I'm picking up a project car at the end of the month so it'll be happening soon! 😁
Hell yeah!!!
@@BeardedWrencher do you know of anyone that has done this HRG lift installation… ? I really want to try it, but I would really love to see if anybody’s got any beta on what to expect.
Thank you for this video, so helpful!!! Great channel keep the videos coming!
Thank you for watching! I really appreciate it.
awesome informational video! thank you very much for the part numbers also.
Thanks for watching! There's a ton of resources in the description and if you have any other questions, feel free to ask!
Looks great! Would love to do a 2-3" lift on our 4wd Tercel.
You definitely should! It's a great addition!
I used Rav4 shocks in the rear. No bushing mods required.
That's great information! What year range of Rav 4 shocks?
@@BeardedWrencher 96-05, the kyb part # is 343272. I'd give credit to the guy that originally figured out that these fit, but I can't remember his Tercel forum username.
Did you need to change out the rear spring with the rav4 shocks?
@@martypack8569 I used 4 runner springs
Update. Just did this rear lift install, with a few minor changes from Luke's, mostly to do with location of air line routing, tee, and Schrader valve etc. I plan to take a different approach on the front lift, using some home fabricated parts.
I hope it was helpful! I look forward to seeing your lift completed.
@@BeardedWrencher Very help, thank you. I am just struggling with getting that passenger side strut bolted back up. I did the driver side last night. You said something about, helpful to have a friend for this part? 8:45 LOL. well, yeah, doing it solo. :) 9:56 yep, the victory is hard fought. Should have a project-complete report in an hour or so, though.
Hey wrencher, great job, she is up there at least 3 inches on each corner is awesome, be safe my brother!😉
Thank you so much! Just wait until I get bigger tires on them!
New follower from Costa Rica 🇨🇷 👌 great video
Can you tell me the spring from pathfinder what year model works for this job
I believe they're 1988 springs.
So is it a pathfinder or 4 runner spring up front? What years for the spring? how much lift does it give? Loved your vid. From the CO. Mountain pass!!
Thanks
I did mess up how to say the parts, I should have refilled it when I realized it later. All the parts numbers are listed in the description of this video. Near the end I show a comparison with a tape measure for the amount of lift gained.
Cool video. Next time you go to run the airline use a metal hanger to pull it across. A small rope or string would also help. Is that a second grey Tercel behind the turbo Volvo?
Man I miss my Tercel, I have to re-do the clutch right now because well it’s not grabbing any gear
They're pretty easy to do! I think pulling the engine is probably easier than dropping the transmission. Especially if you have a Weber carb!
@@BeardedWrencher I do! We’re pulling out the engine instead of the trans, we’re praying it’s the clutch and not transmission
I'm hopeful for you as well! Feel free to email or message me if you have any questions!
@@BeardedWrencher alright! My girlfriends dad owns 7 more Tercel’s so I’m not worried
Does this process keep the stock rear springs?
Is there a way to do this same lift but not use the Monroe Air Shocks?
You lookin to sell one of these gems
Awesome video, I need to do this to my 83 now! Do you think you'll use up CVs faster because if the increased angle?
Thank you so much! I think it will cause some more wear. But I don't think it will be that bad. My 85 has been lifted and I've put over 40,000 on it without CV issues!
Это ОБАЛДЕННО!
love your videos, any reviews for the monroe MA700 since your install almost a year ago? Thanks
Thanks man! I appreciate it. I've been running MA700s in Spud since like March of 2019. Still holding up great! Currently at around 80PSI.
Awesome!
I might put these on my Ae95 corolla.
Why not run the air lines under and into the bumper?? Had a 70 el camino with air shocks and it was easy to adjust and no holes in the interior!!!
I ran them under the frame and to the bumper on a car in the past and they got caught on sticks and rocks when off-roading and I lost all air pressure on the trails.
I would like to see you put a Jeep in your tercel
I'd love to put a tercel on a jeep frame! Buy me a jeep and I'll make it happen maybe.
Dónde compra los repuestos para ese tipo de vehículos?
Rockauto! Most are available new fairly inexpensive. I posted the part numbers in the description.
Many parts in Australia!
Do you know if this kit works for a 1990 Corolla wagon?
I believe the Corolla wagons are an option for lift springs for these cars. I have heard of people using them to gain a little less of a lift.
hey man I just found one locally 1984 red color for $1500 but its the basic none sr5 or 4wd. you think its worth getting .?
If it's not crusty, runs and drives good and doesn't need a pile of work. I'd say $1500 isn't too bad. Obviously try and negotiate your way down!
Is it a manual car? An auto FWD only wagon is a good town cruiser but not the best for long distance driving
@@BeardedWrencher auto. Seems to just need the from bumper replaced as there’s a small pushed corner. Also from the image the right side yellow plastic of the turn signals and I’m assuming the black trim around the front grill unless it’s something else. The main black grill with the brand tag is there. But when I see the main headlights side to the grill I see 3 cuts that don’t seem align like your car does. The orange 🍊 color back latch it’s what’s I’m mainly loving. Car is red. Wish I could show her to you so can see what I mean. Also I just joined the tercel4wd group. Waiting approval.
Would this method work on an 88 sr5
Yes it does! If you have any questions, let me know!
Thanks mate, are you wanting to install a snorkel at any point?
