Great tips with the alt+c/x/z! Really changed my editing when I learned it. Just wanted to share another tip for you guys: Right click on timeline -> timeline settings -> edit tab -> uncheck the box called "select filler with segment tool". Then you won't be able to pick up "empty spaces" in segment mode.. A feature I've never understood the use for, but maybe thats just the way I edit :)
Consider using Ctrl + Alt + Extract (whatever key you have mapped) to expedite the removal of what you are copying into the source monitor to move. It's basically cut / paste vs copy paste.

Just upgraded to 2023.12 and as an AE I use segment mode a lot, but every time I click back in the timeline it turns off. Is there a way to keep segment mode on?
That doesn't make sense to me -- If I hit the red arrow and am in segment mode I stay in it unless I toggle the red arrow off. I just looked at various settings but didn't see anything. Email me avidbeer@gmail.com to see if we can figure it out with more info.
Sorry just trying to find the answer, Hello i have a question about the new avid that i just upgraded to. On my old avid i could grab the color correction filter and grab it and drop it on to a video clip and it would automatically auto black auto contrast and auto balance, automatically everytime. And then i would go and adjust the video file from there, it seemed to work great for me. How do i change it to do this? I understand you can create a seperate color correction and then save it and use that but im trying to figure out how to change the main color correction filter. PLease help thanks
Not sure why that is -- it could be something to do with new version, or if your running the "symphony" version, color correction stuff will act differently here and there...nothing to do but drink to ease the pain there.
So I think because I did it so fast with the keyboard it was hard to see but in that case I hit T (mark in and out) and then Z (lift) and then D (remove in point) so the outpoint was still there and then I hit extend. (I have it saved on the tab key). And then G to remove all in out points. All with my left hand fingers in like a second, it was so fast I think Avid kind of didn't have time to put the markers on the bottom. It can get like stenography after you do that move over and over for years. Cheers!

I"m sure there is a way but using the mouse with T is the fastest so you have more time to drink beer!
