My family had the arcade cabinet in my basement when I was a kid. I've spent years trying to find this game, I couldn't remember the name because I could barely even remember the game but holy shit this is it. Nostalgia+1000
When I was a kid I used to LOVE this game. There was an older bald man who hung around the arcade who looked like him and would sometimes give me quarters. After a few months he wound up molesting me for several years.
Summer, 1987 Wisconsin, Eagle River; some pizza joint had this game. Quite unintuitive; put a couple quarters in on my 13th birthday . Then fell in love with the Renegade cabinet. Never looked back. Also got introduced to Elevator Action.
Those are the best stories, man! The same thing happened with me, Pac-Land, Mat Mania, and Wonderboy back at the corner store in late 1987 when I was 7. They added Mario Bros, Double Dragon, and Splatterhouse in 1988. I didn't play Karnov until the NES version in late 1990. Great game!
2:49 This is the moment that stuck with me the most - I used to die at this exact spot whenever I would go across the road to play Karnov at the local fish and chips shop. I swear, I must have waste at least $20 in 1989 currency on this game.
Rare game where the NES port did a great job building on the arcade game and making it even better. The way Karnov would appear/leave a level via lightning was awesome.
Ahh, yes, Karnov!!. The first game to have a protagonist that no matter how buff or physically fit he becomes, he will NEVER look buff or physically fit lol
great gameplay! I remember this game was incredibly hard to finish on a quarter, like ghosts and goblins, it required hundreds of hours of play to understand how to kill the enemies and use all the special powers properly.
the stupid volcano's at the beginning of level 4 is the only thing keeping me from beating this guy without death. i got the pattern down to where it's easy but then it changes it's pattern to something else randomly. so theres two patterns that i don't know which one im getting. help.
Decent game. But I had a uncle that looked just like him. He would take off his shirt and chase me around the house trying to molest me while humming the theme song to this.
@@drachenzahne9262 he only caught me twice. Once was when I was cornered in the rafters of the garage (no way out!) and the last time was when I was 19 and he caught me hiding in the trunk of a car.
The final boss was never this easy to beat. Not sure if there’s a difficulty setting on this game but I’ve hit the final boss with double the hits than in this video and he still didn’t die. I even got a chance to use the boomerang right before the game was able to take it away and still, the boss didn’t die.
i was getting to the final boss without diying with all the weapons and buff , i was fighting him untill the timer runs out. i was never able to defdeat him. invincible
6:45 Karnov fights of the Infidels Templar knights on his home turf. Man you gotta respect this ottoman God of a man. Edit: lol, he's actually Russian. Makes sense
This was one difficult game at the arcade. Threw quite a few coins in this one.
The music is something else
I was obsessed with this game, almost died when the nes version came out.
Lol beautiful story. I love this game on the Nes.
I only knew about the NES version; this is the first time I saw the arcade version
Same for me@@mathewhorodner2000
I use to play this a lot when I was in junior high school. Very underrated game.
Well done!
Data East had arcade bangers in their hey day!

"My family had the arcade cabinet in my basement when I was a kid." My dream childhood!
You lucky bastard!!!
Then you had one AWESOME childhood
last time I played this was some 33years ago xD
Great video. Brings Back those years and memories
When i was a kiddo my brother told me this was super Mario for arcades.. but an older bald Mario
That's a good analogy really. Never thought about it that way.
this really was a very home consoleish arcade game. I can't really think of too many other platformer arcade games with items and all this going on.

@@deoglemnaco7025Yeah there was a guy like that from India giving us quarters but he never molested anyone.
@@harunmusa8693who was that?
Dhalsim?
This game makes just a little more sense seeing it this way. The NES version blew my mind. It was so confusing. I had no clue what was going on.

Those momies transforming into tombstones were my first encounter with the concept of bullet sponge.

Awesome run! Loved this game.
Miss this game....

Lacks BALLOOOOOONN
Probably didn't learn that until the Fighter's History series, several years later.
The Legend Himself!
I forgot all about this game.

Need to go back to my shift, but here iam watching karnov

Este juego fue unos que marco mi infancia🎉
This guy was the first boss in Dragonninja
Bad Dudes
and the final boss in Fighter's History and Karnov's Revenge
He was also the second level boss in CombaTribes, Data East really liked using Karnov in many games.
That happens after he blows all the treasure and is forced to work for a evil ninja network to pay the rent and child support.

He was the boss in the combatribes. The carnival.
nope
He was the boss in the first stage of Bad Dudes vs Dragon Ninja
Karnov has more appearances in other DECO games or other than DECO.
I had a tiger hand-held lcd of this game. nothing like the original, lol!
Memory unlocked.

Best game ever 😀😎❤🎉!!!!
Is it available at play store ?
Man I remember putting so much coin through this, now watching I was never going to finish this game
How bloody hard is it ?!
The ending was at least better than the NES version where all you got was a black screen that said “game over“
Why are the powerups ks?
very tough game
This game is up there in difficulty with Ghosts and Goblins and Ghouls and Ghosts.

The only appearances of the crane parade!

4 modes of difficulty:easy normal hard very hard. I checked on mame.
Yes final boss was not that easier never beat the final boss
How to download it and play it into mobile phone????
Que recuerdos 😢😢
I think this Karnov person would make great friends (or rivals) with #Wario.
I played this game on my youth, but i'd never been able to defeat the magician boss.
quite a change from the NES version; this is the first time I saw this arcade version
He was not a good guy. It was not about good slaying evil. It was a treasure hunt.
amaba este juego

1:15 We need more video games featuring fat bald shirtless fire breathing Russians fighting skeletons riding ostriches.
Who else hated the floating green and purple titty monsters in the flaming nests the most? 😡🤚🏽

GREAT GAME
CRAPPY BOSS
NOT AN EASY GAME

I never could beat this game. The NES version was a decent port.
with cheats?
You can always tell who uses save states, heh
So that's what Bald Bull was up to when he wasn't fighting in Punch Out.
Too bad it was never ported to the snes. Would have been closer to the arcade version
I could see this maybe having been ported to the Genesis. The SNES came out too many years later to be a relevant title.
I owned the cabinet and don't remember beating it... The end boss looked super disappointing.
So many wasted quarters...
Free masons making a game full of encoding
wheres BALOOOOOOON
The Arcade Version is a lot better
I hear Robocop in this game😅
Definitely the same company made both games
loved Karpov...shame he gets his ass kicked in dragon ninja
