I saw a statement saying "this must be how Katniss felt when they told her she would be returning to The Hunger Games" and Im not okay after reflecting on that.
To everyone who's life will be negatively affected by this election : just like Matt Bernstein said on insta, 70 million people voted to protect you. They may not have won, but 70 million people care about you and want to protect your rights. This will suck hard, but you're not alone. Also remember he is only 3 years younger then joe, he could start showing signs of dementia in the 4 years, that will cut short his time as president. @@Superbatmanbro My heart goes out to so many marginalized communities that will fare so much worse under Trump. I'm genuinely worried Gaza is dead now because of this.
My dad never votes. He always said that the elections never mattered. This year, he had requested a mail in ballot for the first time on his own. Solely to vote for Harris and purely because he had grown so concerned over my safety as a transman under a Trump presidency. He died before he could ever submit it. It kills me a little to think about all the parents like my dad that DID try to vote to protect their kids. All for it to feel like a moot point
We have a severe lack of education in more rural states. And the GOP plans on keeping it that way for this exact reason. Not surprised once the dust has settled, but goddamn what an absolute failure the Democratic party suffered this year.
Whole heartedly agree. Everyone I know who is a trump supporter is just downright uneducated. The party that has been cutting funding for education for years won, who would have guessed.
Oh you said that so beautifully I am literally having an existential crisis. I am black American. It’s my culture but the America part doesn’t want me. I’ve been studying to be in public health, but are we even gonna have public health anymore? The people said it they don’t want healthcare they don’t want protection. I’m not going to keep fighting to give people something they don’t want so what do I even do? What the fuck is my place here I don’t have one, so where the fuck do I go I don’t have any money.
This one comment. This is what I've been feeling for years. This weird dissonance of caring about a country that doesn't care for you. This comment embodies it.
Me too. It's at the point where I'm wondering if my body can even take four years of this. I can't even leave the us because I'm disabled. Just know you're not alone.
Same. If healthcare gets even worse- it may be over for me. Im sick of being in pain all the time and not knowing why because insurance is greedy and backwards, the whole system is awful.
Literally I do not care what his policies are, Trump should NOT have been allowed to run while they're still trying to figure out all his crime shit he did. The fact there are people who voted for that criminal makes me want to throw up.
That’s the biggest thing for me. People are saying “it’s just 4 more years with trump” but it’s not. I’m glad they’re hopeful and I am too, so if that’s what keeps them going then I can’t blame them, but it’s not just 4 more years. I don’t know how long it’ll be, but it’s not just gonna be his presidency

If we survive this, then we need to stop the electoral college, lobbyists, gerrymandering, and get rid of life long positions. If dont this cycle is just going to keep repeating. Make public servants, severe the public again. Tried of companies having more rights than people.
the cycle of voting democrats that rely on companies and expect them to change the system that gives more rights to companies ? I hope so, but seeing all the comments and the reaction to Trump's victory, I think americans would rather destroy that nation than give up their loyalty to the democrats, capitalism runs in american genetics at this point.
It always has but this time it’s more direct. I’ve seen several Trump 2024 flags, even a house that was fully decked out in Trump crap. There are Canadians who are watching the dystopian hell going on down there and going “yee give me some of that up here”

It’s cuz America is unfortunately not ready for a female president (especially one that’s not white). I honestly think Kamala not being elected saved her life…I don’t think it would’ve ended well for her if she won :/
Because she didn’t commit herself into serious issues, she lost minority voters such as Muslim and Hispanic. Many don’t understand how bad Trump is and voted him instead because of all the smoke he blows. 😢 the next 4 years will be rough.. USA’s decisions has an impact on the world.

What's interesting is that Trump doesn't seem to have to increased his vote total from 2020. It just looks like far fewer people voted for Kamala. On one hand, maybe that means Trump has hit his ceiling for actual support but it also means that there are a lot of people who didn't care enough to show up, which is another problem.

And while I think Kamala had some problems that influenced the poor result, I also think a lot of people just refused to vote for a woman of colour.
That's exactly it. A big issue is that so many Americans hold biases against women of color, and cannot bring themselves to support them as their leader. As a woman of color, it's expected but still really disappointing.

I was just checking in on you. I can’t imagine this election being one of your first. I have been beaten down and jaded. My heart goes out to the young people. I pray we rally 🙏 the educated and privileged among us have to help educate others. Volunteer, demonstrate, anything we can❤
I want to live on this planet. This planet is beautiful. I hate that I'm forced to state it with people who do treat this beautiful place with the respect and care it deserves 💔
I live in a swing state and was a first time voter. I was so god damn excited to go out there and vote because it felt like I was doing something. For years, as a half-black transmasc person, I felt so powerless, like I had no control over my own life and future. So to be able to vote was so empowering and wonderful, like I was going to save democracy somehow. For some reason, I had zero doubt in my mind that we would win and everything would be okay. I know my vote was important, but now it feel like it was meaningless. It's so disillusioning, especially since it was supposed to be something very special.
Wisconsin voter here. Kamala lost the state but Tammy Baldwin won-reelection by a percentage point. Your vote does matter. Your voice matters even more. Send any love you have to your friends today.
I'm not american but I cannot fathom how immense the change will be for every surrounding country. I'm terrified to see how this will empower other countries to lean into and promote ideals and beliefs that we thought were a thing of the past.
Imagine, a country failing so hard that they had elected a president which had been convicted, and had literal advisors write a project that destroys the education system and the literal meteorological study for the weather, and they elected that over a person who has expertise in government
All the way from Europe I offer my fellow humans who happen to live in America a big hug. It's not the result you wanted or needed, but you gotta stay strong and make it through. That's the best opposition and form of protest, just showing they can't get rid of you. I'm sorry things have to be this way. This stranger loves you. You matter to me.
not even american and im still so shocked that the election turned out this way?? WHO is voting for trump?? kamala is literally better in almost every aspect?? I thought most celebrities with huge fanbases endorse kamala (taylor swift, chappell roan, billie eilish etc.) which made me believe that theres no way she wont win but the results says otherwise ☹️
People didn't vote, that's how this happened. 40% of people didn't fucking vote, bc the propaganda convinced them it was doomed and they shouldn't try and they listened
This was legitimately the final push for me to start working on moving to Scotland, my father’s home, and a place I’ve thought of moving to for years. I started on it last night and have alot of answers for stuff I need and the paperwork I’ll need to do for a visa for work.
@ the benefit I have is my father being from Glasgow. The paperwork has seemed relatively straightforward. Biggest hurdle it seems I have currently is I want to keep doing my current job meaning I need my CDL to be turned into a DVG.
I’m Canadian, when I looked up the polls on my morning walk to the subway I stopped dead in my tracks. I closed my eyes and breathed out an, “Oh, I’m so sorry…” as if I were trying to comfort a grieving friend. America, don’t give up. Please don’t give up. There are GOOD PEOPLE in America. Not to get corny, but like Tolkein says, “There’s good in this world, and it’s worth fighting for.” You CAN’T stop fighting. You don’t need to march in the streets to fight back. Fight back through kindness, fight back through education, fight back through compassion for your fellow man. Refuse to let the world harden you, because America, you are a strong country. You endured a trump presidency during COVID. You will be okay. You will be okay.
We’ve never been okay. Minorities have always known this. Everyone else gets to see the ugly truth staring them down in the face. Can’t look away anymore.
Biden shouldn't have tried for another term and they should've held an actual primary. I know a lot of people who didn't vote because they despised them both.
Bingo. This is the exact reason she lost-the fact that Trump’s numbers stayed the same and he somehow managed to win the popular vote too proves it. The economy is bad right now, and ironically a lot of that is cause of Trump, but people aren’t going to look at it that way. They’re going to look at the people in charge NOW, because that’s who they perceive as having abandoned them and as being the reason they struggle to eat. People are justifiably angry about Palestine and how the Biden administration has continuously sucked up to Israel. It doesn’t matter that Trump is also a Zionist; the people who are angered by that feel betrayed and are unlikely to think clearly. So they didn’t vote. The democrats were never going to win, because they refused to fully abandon their extremely unpopular current administration. Frankly I think they like doing this shit because it gives them an excuse to go further right, which is exactly what they’ll do come 2026 midterms.
Understandable, I hope you have a better day. I’m telling myself this too. I’m living with trumpers and my mom yelled out “viva trump” as I was leaving. I’m moving out.

We have a severe lack of education in more rural states. And the GOP plans on keeping it that way for this exact reason. Not surprised once the dust has settled, but goddamn what an absolute failure the Democratic party suffered this year.
That's why the electoral college still exists. So the "poorly educated" can be duped into voting against their own best interests.
Whole heartedly agree. Everyone I know who is a trump supporter is just downright uneducated. The party that has been cutting funding for education for years won, who would have guessed.
If we can't fix the education problem, we're finished. Sadly it seems as if the problem is already insurmountable
Don't blame this on rural states or education.
For a full generation, people have not chosen education. Many educated people chose this.
Once they continue to defund education people will be forced to learn online. Following that then discussions like this may become illegal as well.

Hate voted for Trump and we've got a lot of that in America
Most voters aren't ready for a female president unfortunately
@@xnyuuzzn most of those fans of those celebs are too young to vote… and their parents… well…
People didn't vote, that's how this happened. 40% of people didn't fucking vote, bc the propaganda convinced them it was doomed and they shouldn't try and they listened
me too (as an american) and ive been fighting tears all day
This was legitimately the final push for me to start working on moving to Scotland, my father’s home, and a place I’ve thought of moving to for years. I started on it last night and have alot of answers for stuff I need and the paperwork I’ll need to do for a visa for work.
I hope this journey goes smoothly for you best of luck and much love ❤
@ the benefit I have is my father being from Glasgow. The paperwork has seemed relatively straightforward. Biggest hurdle it seems I have currently is I want to keep doing my current job meaning I need my CDL to be turned into a DVG.
Same for my family ❤️ hope we’ll both be able to get there
@@sari9645 see you in Glasgow?
Anyone taking spouse applications? I can see matchmaking services getting a boost from this result, people trying to leave any way they can.
Thank you, friend.
I’ve been despairing about this all day and your comment brought me to tears. Thank you
Thank you friend.
We’ve never been okay. Minorities have always known this. Everyone else gets to see the ugly truth staring them down in the face. Can’t look away anymore.
Didn't realize I needed to read this but the last bit made me cry suddenly.
I’m so tired, D’Angelo.
Understandable, I hope you have a better day. I’m telling myself this too.
I’m living with trumpers and my mom yelled out “viva trump” as I was leaving. I’m moving out.
Don't blame you for wanting to move
Please be safe 💙
Hope you find a decent place to stay, away from her.
Take me with you, same situation here
@@motomami2213 sorry that you having a weak mind is allowing you to destroy your family, I’m sure you’ll see eventually why you’re wrong.
As a future teacher istg if he puts ELON MUSK in charge of cutting funding for the department of education I'm learning a new language and looking into other careers 💀
Yeah it'd be a shame if he put the physicist, engineer, inventor, rocket scientist, neuroscientist in charge of education.
@@michaelmorrow607 you're actually the dumbest person alive, sorry. He's a business owner., not a scientist. He HIRED engineers, inventors, rocket scientists, neuroscientists, etc.... He's cracked out on ketamine according to everyone close to him, his family has essentially disowned him for being repugnant, he's tanked the stocks of Twitter faster than anyone predicted, Tesla is the laughing stock of the greater robotics world because he keeps missing his own self-imposed release deadlines for robots, and the only reason SpaceX is anything at all is because he has talented EMPLOYEES, not because he himself is talented. He's deeply uncharismatic, still thinks "doge" is funny, and champions AI that doesn't even work as a solution to our modern problems.
As someone currently studying to be a teacher I find it insulting that you think Elon Musk (who has absolutely zero education credentials) is qualified to tell me what funding I would need to do my job.
@@michaelmorrow607 me when i make things up
@@michaelmorrow607 he is NONE of those things LMAOOO do you think he is building the rockets and cars himself?? He is a business man, a really bad and lucky one. But hey, I wouldn't worry about him running the department of education, considering, you know, that they want to straight up eliminate the department.
We miss you.
I fell asleep last night so nervous and now I'm afraid for my wellbeing as an lgbt woman and I'm absolutely terrified what's going to happen to my rights. I'm just hoping orange man doesn't go power tripping and put my life at risk...although it already seems to be happening
The thing that scares me is that even if he doesn't push for any formal policies, the damage is already done because he has created a cult-like following of people who are binded together by how much they fucking hate other people. He doesn't even need any formal anti-LGBTQ policies at this point, because his followers will do the work for him.
@@chronic_loner7 I haven’t slept since they started counting votes 🥲 at first it was excitement keeping me up. Then it was dread. And then he won. And now I just feel sick and like I can’t breathe
acting like hes gonna kill yall or something, u dont realise how lucky u are in the west, imagine how its going over in the middle east for lgbt people

@@chronic_loner7 understandable, if ur worried about abortion rights just remember trump can't do a nationwide abortion ban, it would be rlly hard to do. remember to vote for abortion rights in ur state
Real. I’m so scared. I’m not white, not a man, and not straight. A lot of my friends are trans and I absolutely know lgbtq suicide rates are going to skyrocket so I’m just hoping it’s not them. Or me.
I’m white but same to the rest. And I live in FLORIDA

Please stay safe for us. So many people love you and value your lives. Queer people need to stay stronger than ever right now 💖
leave the red states, keep your votes there but it's the only way. many states are now actively hostile to trans people, people have to leave, it's so depressing.
It’s like being forced into your friends abusive relationship. I feel you.
