- #Asuran is a Tamil action drama film directed by #Vetrimaaran and produced by Kalaipuli S. Thanu under his production banner V Creations. The film stars #Dhanush and Manju Warrier in lead roles for the first time. G. V. Prakash Kumar has scored the music for the film, rejoining back his association with director Vetrimaaran. The film is based on the novel Vekkai by Poomani.

I really liked Asuran and the music resonated within me even after I left the cinema hall. I would urge the producer to add English subtitle when they are releasing it outside Tamilnadu. Thank you Vetri Maran . Now, I am watching Vada Chennai in hotstar.
They played subtitle in PVR Bangalore.

Totally agreed! I found the thirunelveli slang a little difficult to follow bc I'm not a native Tamil speaker but I got the hang of it. Subtitles are always a plus bc anyone can watch and enjoy.
Absolutely loved Asuran. I liked the fact that Vetri Maaran made this a bit more commercial so this will reach the masses and not just a few elite movie goers.
Regarding the music in "Asuran", I liked 'Va Asura' song and the theme.
But the whole section during the chase just before the Intermission is lifted straight out of Zero Dark Thirty. Infact I felt GV Prakash used the 'Flight to Compound' from ZDT without much alteration. Because it's a favourite track of mine I immediately recognised it while sitting in theatre. It felt like an insult and betrayal to VM's trust in GV. If we want our movies to reach an international audience, people who plagiarise should be ostracized. There's huge freaking difference between"being inspired by" and straight up plagiarism. With a burgeoning English movie watching population in Tamil Nadu and India, I don't know why some makers still think they can get away with shameless plagiarism!

I really need a Vetrimaran TV series and a high budget movie.
Yah he's now like Anurag Kashyap for Tamil cinema. He could easily pull off a sacred games kinda series with his Vada Chennai touch and it'll be really amazing to watch. RGV tried this in Telugu. Seems OTT platforms like Netflix, Amazon, Hotstar should come out and produce more originals with these talents given the budget they can easily bring on the table.
Velraj's cinematography was amazing! GV's scores were awesome!

Prakashraj is not the mediator. He is a brahmin communist leader(As is the case with most communists in India), who wants to appeal for the oppressed through due process of law(very unlikely of a communist). They will never take a stand that threatens their location.

There is nothing novel about the story line. It is a masala movie made for commercial reason. Dhanush s performance is outstanding no doubt. After being impaled by spears repeatedly he gets up and walks away like terminator. VM lost control of this film and succumbed to producers time line and box office.
Cinematography was really good .. it's DI that looked like Snapseed drama filter .
Seriously yaar too much non sync in flash back portions.
But isn't the DI meant to simulate the tone and setting of the film? Cuz I don't think it would have worked that well with other colors.

Yeah.... I also wondered about the censor certificate when the dead body of the dhanush's elder son is shown in a raw way
Why not put audio alerts for parts where spoilers begin and pin a small "Spoiler Alert" card to those parts? This way we can fast-forward the spoilers and be able to watch every FC video.
There are some references to the time the movie happens like manju warrior asking her son to get some lentils etc which were the staple food of 80s or even before that.

Terrific! The only reason why this isn't hailed as great is because of Pariyerum Perumal, which was slightly better than this and Asuran falls shorts!

Very one dimensional movie , didn't expect this from Vetrimaran. Vada Chennai was superb but asuran sucks big time. It completely lacked the conviction that one would expect from Vetrimaran.
The younger son character is so cliched and it irritates and reminds me of the dumb guy in the mining crew in Armageddon, the young girl in Jurassic Park these characters are just present to do dumb things repeatedly .
Equality or treating every human equally is not a specific right
It's the basic attribute of humanity
That's how everyone should be brought up
