I think Thor Ragnarok is a black comedy as well. Whenever a serious thing happens, a joke comes after that. Damn, most Marvel movies have become such comedies.

Hello Film Companion South community, I saw and liked the film. But didnt understand how the group has managed to take control of a metro train. Did I miss anything or is it just a cinematic liberty?
It's just a cinematic liberty. Every damn thing can't be realistic, right?!
The person driving the train also lost her daughter to this human trafficking thing. That person can be seen in the police station along with Dr. Varun's character. Redin Kingsley's character shouts at him when that person asks him about his daughter. That person helps hero and his team.
@@saisankar4691 bro what about SK's kidnapping of policemen daughter? I think they never showed it after bringing her to house.. There is no proper closure of that incident

To me, it looked like the central idea of the film was inspired from the Tarantino's Django Unchained.
I watched Doctor only this week. The main character is copied from Monk (buttoned up shirt and quirky). More importantly the train comedy with night vision goggle is copied from Monk season 3 episode 3 Mr. Monk and the Blackout. Our guys have to get inspired from something.

For some reason, I cant take away this thought of "working too hard to be unique" on Nelson's works.
Paris Jeyaraj is really an under appreciated film!
Varun is a calculated, robotic character who prioritises practicality - when he chooses to gamble with Chinnu's life and asks to have all 7 girls saved...that seems like an emotional, impractical decision. It felt out of character. And if it was his arc, it came out of nowhere. It did feel INORGANIC to me.

As you were talking about writing, Nelson mentions in every interview that he gives a lot of important to writing so that he can be cool while filming.. Spot on.. And another case that implies the importance of writing is the movie 'Vinothaya siththam'.. Decent movie which was elevated by very good writing as it was adapted from a play..
Imo, the influence of "Breaking Bad" can be seen in Doctor and I think it makes for an interesting watch. Especially with Alvin and Melvin who are alike the Salamanca twins, and also Terry(Vinay) who is very similar to Gus Fring.

This analysis was brilliant! I also loved how the lyrics of Nenjamae depicts a heartbreak between a guy and a girl but in actual fact is between members of a family and the girl. It really confuses the audience when they realise it works so well in that scene as well :)

BR is so matured to explain a movie and in recent times I really love his way of explaining things and he looks something unique from the story and screenplay. As he said, nelson, lokesh kanagaraj and other new directors have a unique quality in bringing out the Tamil cinema to the next level ( sorry vera level) and indeed they re making it unique from as usual hero drama story. I like his way of narration. Especially in recent times, nelson is no doubt a best director of the times. Hats off to his screen writing and off screen comedy. In all times, I ve never seen a director who is excellent in making a film on screen and being as a humorous character off screen. Such a wonderful talented entertainer.
