Pretty good video, which helped me a lot in replacing the switch in my 09 Sonata. A couple of suggestions:
    1) Don't bother trying to disconnect the wires for the little speaker on the top. Just pop out the assembly, and have it hang over the other side of the door. The wire is long enough, and it's very lightweight so there' s no stress.
    2) The 2 back screws on the switch as well as the securing tab on its back side are very hard to get to (the video doesn't show how he got to them). Far easier for me was to take out all the screws that hold the switch/arm rest assembly, pop out the entire assembly, and THEN remove the switch. There are about 10 screws holding it together, but they were quick and easy to remove.

Great video still in 2023! It was very helpful and it pushed me to do the job myself on my 2009 Sonata. I agree with Mr. Maroney's comments: (1) those screws in the back were hard to get to, and (2) it's not necessary to disconnect the window speaker. Thanks to repairED and all who commented.

Thank you , the video was just the push I needed. I don't lack ambition so seeing video gave me a heading. Finished in about 35 minutes start to finish! Thanks Tom

Mine began to act up 2 days ago on my 2010 Hyundai Sonata and today it looks like a broken neck lol. Window will not go down and summer is coming. Good video and all looks simple and easy. I will have my daughter help since she has smaller hands. Thanks again!

Thanks for taking the time to make this video, it saved me a bunch of money. I was able to find a decent quality replacement switch on ebay for $20, while my local dealer wanted over $100 for the part. I'll take the risk of a non-OEM part for those savings. Had the door panel off, replaced the switch, cleaned up the coffee spill that likely caused the original switch to fail, and had it back on the car and working in about 20 minutes.
Echoing what others have mentioned, the hardest part is the getting those 2 screws on the switch assembly back in and tightened. Did not have to remove the armrest however (the fewer screws I remove, the fewer I lose). The drive on the screw-heads securing the switch to the door panel is pretty deep so your shortest #1 or #2 philips screwdriver should fit in there. Finding the hold can be challenging so wither magnetize your screwdriver or place the screw in the hole with some needle nose pliers first.
I'd avoid removing the cables on the door handle unless you need to service something there as well. It's not necessary to replace this switch. Also, be very careful when removing those little plastic button screw-head covers, they can go flying pretty easily.

Thank you for the video. 95% of the fix was very easy. The only hard part was getting to the back clip. You did not show how you removed this? I was not able to get my hand behind the control unit with anything I tried. Small screw drivers were not effective. I finally pried off the top and used a large pair of channel lock pliers to squeeze the top together. This popped it off both clips and it pulled right out. I did spend 25 minutes prior to the solution trying to get anything behind the control switch to pop the clip off. Hope this helps someone. I purchased a new one for about $20 on Amazon.

Great video though it didn't fix my problem - which was the intermittent operation of the passenger side window. Anyway, I left the new switch in there. Maybe I need a new window motor.
As others have pointed out, a crucial detail is missing in the video - He doesn't show how he got to the two backside screws on the switch. A small ratchet drive would help here. Then you can avoid removing the entire armrest assembly. Also, there is no need to disconnect the connector on the top right side near the mirror.
Get a switch with a plastic pry bar included as that will come in handy.
    thx,
    jose u

On my 2008 GLS, I had to remove the armrest to be able to access 3 of the small screws that held the window control switch. It wasn't difficult once I realized that was the only way to get to the screws.

THANK YOU, I currently rebuilding a 2007 Hyundai Sonata and you videos help me a lot. Please continue on this car whenever possible . Can you tell me how to replace brake light bulb in back window . I can't get to it . Thanks Again

Ike Drones inside the trunk there is a circle access hole covered in a sticky black foam by the third brake light. Punch a hole in it and you will see screws with your flashlight. Remove the screws. Then inside the car you can pry and wiggle the plastic third brake light cover off.
You will then see the bulb, you’ll have to play with it to get the connector off to remove the bulb. Repeat the process to put it back together. It’s a MAJOR PAIN in the A$$ Buy an LED bulb you don’t want to do this again trust me.. a 5 second job takes over 30 min and I work on cars everyday.. if you’re not mechanically inclined over an hour and a lot of swearing.
The engineers who designed this were retarded..

I finally got it. - no broken pieces! I used a tiny leatherman that had a flat head screwdriver and turned it 90 degrees to be able to reach around. Use the little holes on top as guides to tell where the clip is.
