Also the reason the game is so difficult is because that was how most games were back then, but I didn't have much problem with it because the difficulty makes you think out your next move, like filling your canteen, or pin pointing the right time to jump, games back then really pushed your limits but I was used to that so I had a blast either way
I think people started talking about it more because of the new Indiana Jones game announcement and this one going free on Games with Gold earlier this year. Glad it's getting a second life on XB1/Series S/X!
Best puzzle. Best adventure. Best story. Best combat. Best platforming. This game has everything. Saw all the movies and Beat this game multiple times. Played it last year after finding it on steam and had as much fun as I did as a kid playing it all the way through again. The Atlantis level with the giant octopus is insane. I loved stuff like that in my games as a kid. Plus everything around you being a brawling weapon. This was the first video game I ever owned and it always shocked me that most people had never played it. The level designs are classic, I would go back and play my favorite stages over and over as a kid. I remember being stuck on the kraken level for a few years. I played on a really small tv and the blurry graphics at the time made the swimming levels even more challenging. I wish Lucasfilm would've realized more Indy games!
This is my favourite childhood game. It is flawless, the game music, locations and buildings are beautiful. The story line and dialogue is flawless. The contrast between the fighting styles of various characters is wonderful. The next Indiana jones game better be just as good
I agree with you on the checkpoints! And I know what you mean on those later levels. The other thing that's kind of a bummer is if you go through with the infinite health and ammo cheat turned on you don't die when you fall Indy's body will lay on the ground and you can't move and you simply have to quit and restart
Great analysis on this game. I picked this one up recently and absolutely loved it. There were some frustrating moments but that made completion even more satisfying.
One note: the game's story takes place between the first and second movie. Spoiler: at the end of the game during the last cutscene, Indy's friend Wu Han mentions about Lao Che and the Nurhachi job which is the starting point of The Temple of Doom. Wu Han was the waiter/friend of Indy who got killed during the restaurant negotiations
You mean before the first and second movie? Not counting the flashback in Last Crusade this game takes place before any of the movies. Temple of Doom was a prequel to Raiders and this game is the adventure right before Temple of Doom
@@Spartablox100 Okay, I didn't know that. But yes, I'd assume this game takes place right before Temple of Doom, judging by the mentioning of the Nurhachi job at the end of the game
Great game. The fist fighting and brawling is fantastic. In a world where fighting in action games are largely just mashing a button to attack with maybe one counter button, Emperor's Tomb brought out a visceral hands-on fighting experience.
They really did capture that feeling of being in a fight, instead of one person just dominating. From the first fight to the last, you have to be on your toes or you’ll get beat down.
This game is legitimately underrated. Seems strange for such a big IP. History acts like it was just another cash in but it is the ultimate in post Tomb Raider, pre Uncharted gameplay. Great review man 👍 I love this game and still play it on my Og Crystal Xbox with the Madcatz Crystal Wireless remotes, I love that adventure feeling of being in another world like this, Tomb Raider and Gauntlet.
Even though I like modern systems, I'm so glad I was not born into the modern gen game consoles. I grew up with the older systems so I have zero problems going back to older game design. Otherwise I'd probably be too stuck up to give games like this a chance. So many great gems during the 6th gen.
