Hey, just want to warn you: as I was setting up my iPhone 4, I realized the battery had swollen up. Upon closer inspection, I realized the battery was not only swollen, but also punctured. So, watch out for that!

Sadly, iPhone OS 3 does require shsh blobs. There's currently no OTA nor custom .IPSW method
Also, I know nobody asked me.

This is cool, I had an old 4 lying around so I wanted to try this only to find out mine is the 3,2 model - and this tutorial is specific for 3,1 and my MacBook is running the latest Monterey too so it’s a bummer. I was still able to find a way to do a tethered downgrade to iOS 6.1.3 with redsn0w.

It’s always nice to have the real blobs on hand
Most people don't have their old phones on hand, let alone save SHSH blobs every single time an update releases. Tools like this make the process accessible for everyone without having to have owned the phone since launch.
@@superstar64 that’s true, luckily on iDevices this old you can simply dump onboard blobs if you had the foresight to decide against updating it to begin with. The biggest benefit is not having to go through as many steps, functional only on the command line via macOS or Linux whereas iFaith work fine on Windows and can make a personalized IPSW easily restorable on an age-appropriate version of iTunes (or in the case of redsn0w, even perform the restoration directly through its own GUI).
When i try to make the custom ipsw my MacBook says: could not load IPSW. can someone help me?

Well, iCloud lock was introduced in iOS 7. So, even if your iPhone can't downgrade to iOS 4, iOS 6 will still be fine

@@iClassicI‘m currently trying to find a solution on how to unlock a passcode protected iPhone 5. It looks like it has iOS 7 too and the only software that can find out the code would be „Elcomsoft iOS Forensic Toolkit“… which costs about 2 thousand dollars o_o. What would you do?

When I attempt to save the first .plist file, I don’t see the file come up anywhere in the SHSH folder. Is this an OS issue since I’m running Monterey?

@@theameoww it is possible to downgrade iPod touch 4G, but it requires windows 7 and it’s tethered
@@cynthia0005 i meant fully untethered. Yeah you can do a tethered downgrade but you’d need to plug it in to your pc everytime you reboot or the device dies
Might be better to just buy it off eBay. I've seen a few floating around, some in the $20-$30 range.

Never mind, I know what an problem is, it was not compatible with the version, even it’s an 3,1 iPhone 4, 3uTools reported it was made in 2015
