RE Engine is one of the best engines right now on the market, my laptop is showing its age but it was able to run the demo without hiccups. I seriously hope Capcom would consider to let other devs use their engine in the same way Unity or Unreal does.
I agree. Phenomenal engine, and if they don't license it out I'd like them to oversee other devs reworking titles Capcom may not do, such as the Outbreak series.

RE4 has been released an infinite amount of times on everything but a toaster, but wouldn’t it be interesting if RE4 was remade with the new RE Engine? After a remake of RE3 and Code Veronica, of course. I’m seeing Leon in this game now and can’t help but see him in a leather wool jacket fighting ganados and chainsaw maniacs...
This is not far off from RE4. The camera system still shifts dramatically when you get grabbed and the game takes 100% control away from you until the movie animation ends.
I think thats more than half as long as you have people like ACG who gives honest reviews and have community trust. These guys practically drive sales. Hell, companies should be paying them.

For any budget PC gamers like me, the game runs between 50-60fps even on a 1050. The optimization and extensive feature control is fantastic so to be honest, I'm sure you could runs this on even older hardware.
So after sinking about 6hrs into the full game last night... I can say without a shadow of a doubt this game is fucking amazing... I don't really care for single player games and would have generally avoided this. However I mistakenly thought it was coop bought it and WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED.. except the fact is wasn't coop of course lol

Remake = entirely new mesh assets and programmed from the ground up with an in house or 3rd party engine. Remastered = same application, just with higher resolution textures, high polygon mesh etc.

It's not always that way anymore, there's really more then just remakes and remasters now, more like 4. Like a Remake that stays true to the old game, or a Remake that's completly different but keeps a few of the same things as the original.
The original came out when I was in middle school and was the first game that ever really scared me. So much so I used to play with the sound and music muted and would play the radio just cause the sound design was so unnerving for me then. Bought the remake last night and not gonna lie, the manliest of tears came manly rolling down my face. This was almost 20 yrs in the making for me. Thank you Capcom for showing the original respect with this game.
Resident Evil 2 is a prime example of what a remake should be. The game was rebuilt from the ground up and it clearly shows in the final product. Visually, this is easily the best looking Resident Evil title to date. Character models, enemies and the various environments are nicely detailed. Texture work is exceptional for the most. The game's audio is pretty good. Voice acting is actually impressive, which is rare for a Resident Evil game. I absolutely love the atmosphere, setting and level design. Movement, aiming and combat are very smooth. I'll definitely be picking Resident Evil 2 as soon as I can. Thanks Karak once again for another high quality review. You are the best reviewer on UA-cam. I wasn't at all interested in making the purchase until I played that demo, and then it was like "I NEED this game". Plus ACG's review being what it is now, definitely keeping my pre-order.
I picked this up today and couldn't wait to get stuck in. It's funny, in Resident Evil 6 I used to run at enemies trying to take them down with roundhouse kicks and melee combat, no matter what the enemy was. But the Resi 2 Remake really brings back the horror so well. Even a single zombie smashing through a window is enough to make me jump out of my skin. And don't get me started on the Tyrant!

I played the original about 100 times. Can't wait to get my hands on this once I get paid after the government shutdown. Edit: This wasn't meant to start a whole thing about who is to blame. It is what it is and I'm still doing my job. Pay is delayed, but will come.

Picked this up for $15 last week at a retail chain. I would say by the end of the opening cutscenes and the first area you control Leon I got my $15 worth. Impressive

I never really liked Resident Evil 3 that much and 2 was my favorite of the old games. But after seeing what they did here I think a remake of 3 at this level of quality would be great.
One of my all-time favorites I use to sit through and play through the entire game in one sitting. My brother was too scared to play so he loved watching. Such nostalgia!

This, MK11, Judgement, and DOOM: Eternal are currently my most anticipated games of the year. So glad to see 2019 is off to a great start with RE2 looking like it's living up to the hype. I just recently went back and played the RE1 HD remaster. since I had not touched RE since 1999 I had forgotten much of the moment to moment game play. So with them adding too and reshuffling things around RE remaster felt like a nearly brand new game which helped it recapture the magic of the first time I played it in 1996. After this review I am now completely avoiding anything about RE2 for the next 3 days(didn't spoil anything for me.) cause I don't want my mind refeshed on anything before I go in to it.

Capcom made a wise decision in how they offered the demo environment for RE2. Calling it a one shot chance and giving only 30 minutes got me to actually try it out. I was pleasantly surprised at the engine the game is running on. The game just runs as you would expect, it runs flawlessly, effortlessly. Reminding of games like Last of Us in terms of how the flow of the game and gameplay are designed while flowing from the capabilities of the game engine. I pre-ordered this game today....I've never pre-ordered a RE game before. Great job Capcom.

I'm loving the game, only things I'm not liking too much is how some zombies will go down with 3 bullets to the head but others will take 6 fall down and then start getting up again to take another 2-3. Love all the changes made though, I played the original dozens of times and again when it came out on the gamecube so it's a nice fresh feeling seeing all these new items and areas
This was my all time favorite game as a kid. So when I found out that they were doing a remake I was instantly excited. Now here we are days before the release, and my excitement level has not decreased. I'm glad you also gave a honest review on the pros and cons. It would seem that the pros largely outweigh the cons, which is what we all want in a game. So happy today RE2 could still be my favorite game.
Currently playing the PC version. It's similar to Resident Evil 7 in terms of visual presentation. Looks good. Runs extremely smooth. Gameplay is equally as impressive. Voice acting and motion capturing is top notch for this series. Hard to complain a product this well polished. Still, I kinda wish it was similar to the still "peerless" REmake (and its variations). I kinda miss the static backgrounds and wonky controls. It's just nostalgia talking, though.
I pre-ordered and downloaded it last night to my Xbox One X last night. After seeing the high praise from everyone, I figure there's no need in messing with physical on this. I won't be trying to sell it later. I love RE games and they are typically worth multiple playthroughs. Great review.

I never really liked Resident Evil 3 that much and 2 was my favorite of the old games. But after seeing what they did here I think a remake of 3 at this level of quality would be great.

This, MK11, Judgement, and DOOM: Eternal are currently my most anticipated games of the year. So glad to see 2019 is off to a great start with RE2 looking like it's living up to the hype. I just recently went back and played the RE1 HD remaster. since I had not touched RE since 1999 I had forgotten much of the moment to moment game play. So with them adding too and reshuffling things around RE remaster felt like a nearly brand new game which helped it recapture the magic of the first time I played it in 1996. After this review I am now completely avoiding anything about RE2 for the next 3 days(didn't spoil anything for me.) cause I don't want my mind refeshed on anything before I go in to it.
I havent paid full price for a new game in years. Played the PC demo and cannot wait. Nostalgia alone is worth $60

Capcom made a wise decision in how they offered the demo environment for RE2. Calling it a one shot chance and giving only 30 minutes got me to actually try it out. I was pleasantly surprised at the engine the game is running on. The game just runs as you would expect, it runs flawlessly, effortlessly. Reminding of games like Last of Us in terms of how the flow of the game and gameplay are designed while flowing from the capabilities of the game engine. I pre-ordered this game today....I've never pre-ordered a RE game before. Great job Capcom.

I'm loving the game, only things I'm not liking too much is how some zombies will go down with 3 bullets to the head but others will take 6 fall down and then start getting up again to take another 2-3. Love all the changes made though, I played the original dozens of times and again when it came out on the gamecube so it's a nice fresh feeling seeing all these new items and areas

This was my all time favorite game as a kid. So when I found out that they were doing a remake I was instantly excited. Now here we are days before the release, and my excitement level has not decreased. I'm glad you also gave a honest review on the pros and cons. It would seem that the pros largely outweigh the cons, which is what we all want in a game. So happy today RE2 could still be my favorite game.
Currently playing the PC version. It's similar to Resident Evil 7 in terms of visual presentation. Looks good. Runs extremely smooth. Gameplay is equally as impressive. Voice acting and motion capturing is top notch for this series. Hard to complain a product this well polished. Still, I kinda wish it was similar to the still "peerless" REmake (and its variations). I kinda miss the static backgrounds and wonky controls. It's just nostalgia talking, though.

I pre-ordered and downloaded it last night to my Xbox One X last night. After seeing the high praise from everyone, I figure there's no need in messing with physical on this. I won't be trying to sell it later. I love RE games and they are typically worth multiple playthroughs. Great review.
