You Guys are the Classic sound Tim a special thanks to you for bringing this group together! You Got Fossils who grew up in the 60'sand the next gen FOXES, who are totally amazing! The total chemistry is outta sight...

The Mamas and the Papas released their version of this song during my last year of high school in California. Shortly after that I did some serious "California Dreamin" while crawling in the mud at Ft. Polk, Louisiana, and for another three years traveling around the country and the world on an all expenses paid tour. Serious nostalgia hearing this song again. Too bad California has changed so much for the worse since then. Bittersweet.
I saw the Original Mammas and Papas do this live...They didn't sound better than this.

I rushed home thinking I was late to the premiere... instead I'm 23 hours and change early... getting old sucks!
I did that once; I was near the airport when it was announced that the French President would be in town, landing at 4:15 in a Concorde. A Concorde in Satchewan? I'M IN! Sat there four 45 minutes waiting for him before realizing the plane was landing the next day. And I would be at work... At least I wasn't the only one waiting that day.

I play a bit of guitar or rather dabble. The problem is here, there are absolutely NOBODY I can jam with, let alone any singers. None of my 4 kids are musicaly inclined or just don't don't care I suppose. When I see the young ladies in your video singing a song from MY era, gives me proper Goose Bumps. @TheDowner I think you name says it all as you don't understand what this group is about Perhaps you don't know the history of this band but it was started as a hobby for the girls but blossomed because of the brilliance of the group. The guys were professional musicians called the Mustangs and they played for many years. This group is not interested in touring or writing their own music as they are quite comfortable doing covers for fun. I'm a musician of more than 50 years and take it from me you will not see or hear a better tighter and vocally pure group than this.

@@leebrand3724 they are indeed good musicians but you also don't know what all they do post production or doing recording. For all you know some or all of the vocals is lip synced or modified in realtime by software. My point is that to state 'take it from me you will not see or hear a better tighter and vocally pure group than this' does nothing good for your reputation. I am also a musician.
@@marinelifer1752 From the videos you will see that the musicians/vocalists are not in one place except for the part when five of them are together. In that part it is extremely difficult even with modern technology to change the sound or vocals/presentation on each one so the balance has to be right. Sure as the band members are apart that Tim has done a fantastic job on the mixing but there is a limit to how much you can fudge any bad spots.What i have indicated is that the vocals by F&F are so good because the voices are matched and they sing in perfect pitch and tone. I have been in group like Lexington Lab Band where the musicians/singers are changed and i can tell you that there are groupings that perform better on certain songs than others. In F&F case these singers know each other and sing to their strengths..If you really want to see why they are so good go and look at the videos of their first performance and especially the first song Sweet Judy Blue eyes. This was in a shocking venue with the recording done on basic analogue equipment with no fancy gizmos. Listen carefully to the sound and voices and you will see why i comment that they are in a league of their own. It is unfortunate that they don,t do live concerts as you will then see what they can do. Perhaps listen to some of their carpark videos and you will also see the class as i have played in such conditions and it is tough.

Scott's virtuoso yet subtle performance brought me to old man tears. He is magnificent. Please tell me it's a dream and he is still with us. Scott, you don't know how much we miss you.

Well I hate to be one to say it, but I feel this wasn’t Tim’s song to sing. His voice was not the match for this particular song. I love this band and I love what they do for us on you tube but I have to be honest. Blessings

A trait that that Chase, Sammy, and Maggie have is that even though their harmonies are excellent you can still hear their individual voices. I'm glad that at the mixing board their voices aren't all churned together.

"Well, I got down on my knees . . ." Tim brings such energy, so much soul, just the right gravelly touches at the right times. This is just a remarkable vocal, as impressive a performance of the song as anyone has ever given. Really.

SPECTACULAR! The dual harmonized guitar lead for the instrumental is so much better than the original flute, and I never thought I would think that. Doing it with the guitars adds so much more energy to it and the song just spring-boards off the solo with even more energy because of it. Whew... vocals are beyond beautiful, and whole band plays with that perfect balance of delicate finesse and DRIVE that is so hard for bands to master.

It's so refreshing to watch and listen to a group that doesn't have to swallow their microphones. They have learned to project their voices. Also they are beat, on melody and just really look like they are enjoying the song that they are singing, not just singing the words.
Definitely. Although to be fair that’s likely because of the lack of ambient noise in the studio whereas on stage singers often likely use close-proximity mics to only capture their voice and not be drowned out by the booming band.

I love the way it starts with the two singing background gently then 'wham' ...the whole crew jumps in at 0:22. A great hook.
If the M&Ps were still around today, they could walk into a studio and sound no better than this and probably not as good as this. Seriously. This is absolutely the best cover band on the internet. Hands down.
Saw them live a couple of times. Some of the M & P were often so stoned (usually John and/or Denny) that they couldn't perform very well. This is much better.
I teared up immediately on the first notes, knowing what treat the song would be, then I was STILL floored by how it surpassed my expectations... what a guitar duet.... what harmonies and mixing.... what a great lead vocal! Thank you all for keeping at it!
