This machine was only slightly less confusing for me to learn than the 488. The input assign info was especially helpful even after spending quite a bit of time working with it already. Thanks for making it as simple as possible.
@@mikeymountain89 i have an MT4X which is the 4 track version. Both are very similar in operation, from what I see. Mine has 4 RCA Tape Out connections on the back. According to the manual, the main signals from the tracks are recorded to the cassette and sent out to these connectors. I would assume if you have 4 inputs (or with the MT8X, 8) into your audio interface, you should be able to record into the DAW at the same time.
Just grabbed one of these and I really appreciate the tutorial really needed that! One question is the 8 tape outs on the back can I plug those into an 8 channel mixer to use as instead of the on board mixer?
You don‘t have to use a separate mixer. There‘s one built into this machine (: Theoretically, you could record all the inputs (8 mic/line and 2 or 3 FX returns) onto one track. Or spread almost every combination possible onto the four tracks you can record at once.
Yeah, the ‘flip‘ bitton below (on the MT8X) or above (MT8X II) the pan pot. It switches between record (mic/line) and playback (tape). That‘s how analog recording consoles work if you don‘t have inline mixing.
I need some help with the mic preamps please! I'm not planning on recording something on a mic. I got a Drummachine with 8 Individual outputs. Do i still need a preamp then to get a good signal? thanks in advance
I have an MT4X but they are very similar. I would expect that your drum machine should produce 'line level' signals. Try it with the Gain control more to the Line side.
Hello, I am from PA.. I use to own one of these when my band was recording allot. I have about 30 tapes of us, just catching what we played.. My singer Steve, just passed away Aug. 29th, and I no longer have this unit to get the tracks down on the computer... Would there be ANY way I could rent this unit for about a week or two? I would love to just buy it but no funds for purchase. I know you don't know me from adam but it would mean allot to me, and his parents. If not, could I make payments? If not, I understand, I just can't find this anywhere, and the ones I do either don't work or playback... Thank you for your time. PS: I have mixed allot of bands, If thats something you would want to work with..? Sorry if this message is out of line for asking, I just dont have any options.

Do you know if i can use it to record directly to a daw instead of a cassette?

I'm actually using this to learn how to use it 😂
I dont see whats funny here...
Excellent 👍👍
Dude you rock, now it’s time to mix and master can you show outputs for that…
can you record multiple tracks at a time with this unit (for instance having individual drum mics going into each channel)?
yes it does, but only 4 channels. i tried to record 8 channels at once but that does not work. but yes it works.
Id recommend you use a mixer in front sent out to a single channel

@@TheWolfbass the mt8x only records 4 at a time
@@MilesthehumanmanDid you read what I wrote? 🤔
How do you work with stereo imaging on this if you have to use the pan knob to select odd/even tracks ?
Wondering this too
In record mode, they are use to select the odd/even tracks to record on. In mix mode they work as normal pan pots. pretty simple.
@@TheWolfbass mix mode?

My brain hurts
How come my signals weaker after it's recorded? >:|

See my reply to you up the chain...
Why does mine stop recording right at 9 seconds on the counter? What am I, or what is wrong with it?
