How is it 2022 and I’m still discovering SNES/SFC rpg titles I’ve never heard of? Keep up the great work!
vizzed is where its at
As a huge jrpg fan and an Arab, I'm surprised I've never heard of this game until now. That's why I like channels like yours, to learn more and enjoy more games.
It's always interesting to see how other language speakers and people from different cultures reimagine Arab folklore. For example the names of the characters; Ifrit means strong genie, and also means wicked and sly. Shukran means thankful, Zeitoon is olive...
Suleiman is the name of an ottoman sultan like you said, but it's also the Arabic name of King Solomon, whom God granted the ability to speak to Djinns and animals. God also gave him a magical ring that he used to enslave demons.
Thank you for the great videos. Definitely worth the sub.
Dude get it and make a playthrough on here, it would be interesting to hear your thoughts!
Suleiman is the name of king solomon in arabic, according to arabian stories, he was a prophet and a very wise man, he had supernatural powers given to him by god like ruling over the jinn, Ifrits and enslaving demons with his magical ring.
so the story of the game is inspired by the islamic and arabian version of king solomon.
the pixel art is really really nice in this, wow
Another I never knew existed, great job!
Thanks!
I'm a long-time rpg fan. I just started playing this yesterday, and I like it. It feels unique and fresh compared to other snes rpg's.
"This translation job seems a lot more solid..." *screen shows a message about The Evil Cult of Evil* Hahaha
But in all seriousness, this looks neat. I'd never heard of this game before now. Thanks for sharing!
Played the Japanese original a bit on an emulator in the late 90s but got stuck very early because of the language barrier. Glad to know there's a translation now. I'll add it to the ever growing list and might eventually get to it. You know, after I retire.
The encounter rate gets better as you get the carpet or the bird. The maze like quality of some dungeons were frustrating but exploring usually allowed me to not have to grind
Dude this channel rules you sound like someone in my lunch group from elementary school
Thanks, I think lol
Suleiman is probably also based in the biblical King Solomon, who tradition holds bound demons (and, in Islamic tradition, djinn) into his service with a magic ring.
Gonna try this on my SNES!
It's worth trying!
The weirdest thing about this game is there's no healing spells. You _can_ heal with cards, but they barely heal any HP, so you're stuck with buying a ton of healing items to get through the midgame. Then in the last few hours hours, it becomes super easy and you'll never need to heal at all.
Woah, wait, I'm 30 seconds in and that little snippet of the battle system reminds me SO MUCH of Ogre Battle. OMG O.o (haha, and you mentioned it around 4:30. Glad it's not just me!)
I love your videos. You have introduced me to so many different RPGs I didn't know existed before.
Thanks, many more to come!
Another great vid, you're on 🔥 keep it up man. The battle system definitely looked like it had an Ogre battle vibe like you mentioned which I is intriguing, loved march of the black queen
Looks interesting. I might really enjoy the card mechanic.
Dude that intro music is awesome, if you were to change it you should do something like overture from castlevania rondo of blood
The encounter rate is insane. And the game is a bit broken with how it replenishes HP and MP upon leveling, so you can feasibly grind the early game for a minute using auto battle and fast forward on an emulator and suddenly the rest of the game is a cakewalk. Unfortunate, it would've been nice if they lowered the encounter rate just a tad or made grinding kind-of less required. The airship can be had early as can the best weapon in the game due to cheesing this same system and it makes the rest of the game trivial. Excellent translation, as the video stated.
Today was the day I learned this existed. Seems neat.
I have done this game, really fun!
One of my fav JRPGs...Great game.
Awesome review. I played this one not that long ago, and really enjoyed it overall.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Looks interesting. It goes to show how many games we missed out on in the day.
Cib copies of this game are so ridiculously expensive and I generally only play physical copies... I may have to actually emulate this one. Great vid, man!
Binding Genies is Solomon/Suleimon not the sultan if going by traditional myth outside of game.
Uh, this game looks really cool! I gotta try it sometime
It's a unique one! Give it a go!
Cuz discovered cdromance, running through all the roms
Welcome to the club
We don't talk about fight club...
EXTREMELY HIGH encounter rate. Names are cool, I'm middle eastern so I understood it all, well chosen names. Played the game on zsnes on speedmode and still hated it for the super high encounter rate. If there was a quick way out of a dungeon like an escape rope it would have made it less frustrating. Mazes and high encounter meant the game had A LOT of grinding, intentionally or unintentionally. The first 1/3 of the game is hard and you need to grind to advance. Then the rest you're too strong from all the encounters that you basically become invincible to anyone except bosses, so it wasn't as balanced as it should be. The storyline is also pretty shallow and lackluster. SPOILER ALERT*** -the thief joins your party because he wants the treasure you're after, never gets it for himself but sticks around and will sacrifice his life for you and the world doesn't appear to be in any danger but you press on because a couple people were jailed to be sacrificed but never actually were and you want to fix everyone's problems because you're just nice? I'm sure they could've came up with something better than that. But kudos for going against the status quo and doing something different.
Cool a translation. I tried it once when there was no translation.
At that time it looked awesome for an jrpg and it has not that childish art style.
Also I don`t understand why there is so less games with arabic theme.
I hope it is not because of political reasons
🙃
magic of scheranide on NES is a zelda/RPG game that's hard to explain
it didn't seem to do well, mostly as the name is crazy hard to spell (likely mis-spelled it above) and the culture is different, so it takes time to understand unless you know the culture - and it doesn't have the japanese advantage of thousands of games with bits and pieces of the culture
tl;dr: the games are there, you just have to look for them
OST at the end of the video? Btw, just finished this game, it's amazing with the translation and random encounter patch!
Terra's theme from Final Fantasy VI
Pretty game, but i found the number of battles annoying. Looking forward to see your opinion about games like La place Demon, Dark half and Mystic Ark.
This video almost makes me feel guilty that I didn't even know it was a thing...
i always think this game inspires creator of bakugan
I got to get this
I disagree. The visuals are superb. I do think they are a good bit better than FFVI. This is one of the most beautiful games on the Super Famicom
Yo lo jugue a los 14 años en emulador con mas de 100 juegos incluidos.
Lo jugue con guias en ingles mal traducidas en Google 😅
Very random game but it looks cool.
I never knew about this game, will have to check it out, it looks way charming compared to typical cookie cutter JRPGs. Thanks!
I wanna play
I don't know why but it wont let me patch the rom
Finally a video game character that shares the same name as me
Bom rpg mano
Sounds more like Solomon instead of Suleiman.
He is still called Suleiman in Qur'an.
